This tank was said to be built by the governor of Shilahara of Shristanka, (Thane) during 11 century AD. Pls visit this place early morning to experience the calmness of the area. One need to get down at walkeshwar best bus stop which is only 2 mins walking distance from the baanganga. If anyone coming from csmt, take 108 best bus.

I consider it as a very spiritual place in Mumbai. Don't know the water flows into the tank but the vast structure looks magnificent. The tank is surrounded by temples from all sides nd offers spectacular view during the evening hours. A must visit place if you are an artifact lover. You can see swans on this tank. You cannot step down into the tank as it may be risky.

This holy place is not getting that much of attention by the government in terms of cleanliness and also not being recognised as tourist attractions. Water of the lake is degrading day by day and nobody bothers to stop people for making the lake from polluting.

This place gives vibes of Varanasi. Near to Raj Bhavan. But place is not clean, the people staying in surrounded area are not taking care of this beautiful gem. Also government is taking care/neglecting this place.

Banganga or Banganga talao as it is popularity know has a very old legend attached to it right from the days of Ramayana. must visit to this very old heritage site, it is surrounded by a lot of temples including the famous Shiva temple, kawle math, Kashi math, Mahalaxmi mandir to name a few, people around are helpful. There are small snack and food joints nearby which provide you with sandwiches, pizzas, bhel, and other stuff. This place gets extremely crowded during the holy days as people and tourists from all over the country come here to do pujas and other rituals. Banganga is also known for the the famous Banganga festival which promotes hindustani music.

Very peaceful in evening and do being food for ducks when you visit. The steps near water are slippery due to algae so take care of that.

The Banganga Tank is a lovely place to visit and also see the many temples that surround it on all four sides. There are two sets of Deep Stambhas or Pillars of Light on the two corners. The famous Walkeshwar temple is on one of the banks of the tank.

Though having historic importance, least maintained however one can surely visit to experience peace and energy winds. Walk towards the lake will take you to little back to the Era of 90s.

Should be maintained ... It lacks maintenance and cleanliness, otherwise it's a very surreal and calming place to be at. People visit the place for various reasons, some visit the place for ritual purposes while some for photoshoots and some to just spend time by themselves.

BANGANGA located in the bustling city of Mumbai, is a serene oasis of spirituality and history. Nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking the Arabian Sea, this temple holds a significant place in the hearts of both locals and tourists alike. Steeped in history, the temple is believed to have been built during the Silhara dynasty, making it a repository of cultural heritage. The intricate carvings and architectural details showcase a fusion of styles from different eras, offering a glimpse into the city's past. As one steps inside, a sense of tranquility envelops, providing respite from the chaos of urban life. Devotees gather here to pay homage to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity. The main shrine, adorned with traditional decorations and offerings, exudes a sense of devotion and reverence. The temple's location near the sea adds a unique dimension to the experience, with the soothing sound of waves creating a soothing backdrop for prayers and meditation. The temple complex also includes a small garden area, ideal for quiet contemplation. The blend of natural beauty and spiritual significance creates an atmosphere conducive to both introspection and seeking divine blessings. While the temple's age brings a certain charm, it might not boast the opulence of more modern structures. However, its historical significance and the sense of spiritual connection it offers outweigh any shortcomings. In conclusion, Shri Walkeshwar Temple is a gem tucked away in the bustling heart of Mumbai, offering a slice of history, tranquility, and a spiritual haven. Whether you are a devotee seeking solace or a curious traveler exploring the city's heritage, this temple is undoubtedly worth a visit.

Good place if you want to be at peace. Cleanliness needs to be maintained. Kids here keep playing or swimming, there are also some swans here. Public transport is also available so the place is easily accessible.

as we all know this place is a historic place and always connected with us in the purest form . We go here to perform rituals for our ancestors. The worst part over here is the local, you can spot few ( 01 or 02 ) who will be drunk and will be the reason of disturbance. Many just ignore them. overall it's a good place, surrounded with shops and lots of temple 🙏🔱

The source of the lake is very sweet it goes and meets into the ocean. However it is good if you want to go and so pooja path or shradh related rituals. Situated in the middle surrounded by temples all around.

The lanes and the place feels like you're visiting someplace in Varanasi. Its quite and peaceful. You can see ducks and feed the fishes. I recommend not to visit this place alone as the lanes can be quite confusing, if not followed properly. But you'll end up there that's for sure :)
