Idli House has a variety of idles. I had the Masal Idli, Mysore Idli and the Sada Idli. All three were just average. The sambar was pathetic, it looked and tasted like dal. Besides, the staff is ill-mannered. A waiter was standing opposite my table and ogling at me. I gave him a disgusting stare thrice, yet he continued to do so. Finally, I reported it to the person in-charge. I've been to a number of restaurants in my life but never has the staff made me feel so uncomfortable. I chose not to order anything more and had dessert and coffee at a neighbouring restaurant. So this place not only serves mediocre and sub-standard food but also have ill-mannered staff where a womon won't feel safe and comfortable. NOT RECOMMENDED! BELOW EXPECTATION! NOT ACCEPTABLE! We got Idli House idli’s for breakfast today. Tried out - Khotto Idli and Mysore Rawa Idli. Came with generous portions of sambar and a yummy fresh coconut chutney. And though it came from Kings Circle to Bandra it was hot! Great portions and totally delicious. A true weekend breakfast treat Strongly recommended

The Idlis are really delicious and so are the Sambhar and Chutney! Only issue is they are only accepting cash and no UPI/Cards.

Idli house has been a go to place for yummy and healthy breakfast. The service is super fast and the food is amazing. One very good initiative they have undertaken now is that they charge you if you waste food, which I think is necessary these days when people are pretty casual about wasting food in their plate. You will get authentic idli varieties here and with a perfect portion.

A small place with some amazing varieties of Idili. You can experience authentic South Indian idli style here. Cons: They don’t have enough seating area. So it’s better to take parcel.

This quaint place recently moved here from King's Circle. There are a variety of options available, which make for a South Indian food lovers delight. Tried multiple items and liked all. Though I feel the Sambar & Chutney can be slightly improved. Overall a very good authentic experience.

Another South Indian restaurant close to Matunga Circle. They serve the best idlis and ONLY idlis. We tried their, 1) Kanchipuram idli (for the lover of cloves) 2) Rasam Idli (for the lover of rasam) 3) Pepper Idli (yum, lots of black pepper) 4) Filter Coffee (light and milky, this coffee was the biggest dissapointment out of the South Indian Restaurants that serve filter coffee) Ambience is simple with hardly any seating, but could be cleaner. Service is fast and rates are reasonable. This is a Non-AC eatery. The menu is displayed on the wall for you to choose, they also have a menu card.

Best place to have Idli & their Mangalorein type Idli are super in Taste, on Top Filter Coffee!! ❀️ When you are Matunga never miss to have Idli's here. My personal Favourite is Rava Idli

  • 4/5 Raja Rajeswaran M. 1 year ago on Google
Different varieties of idli. We tried almost everything there. For spicy type, only masala idli available. Otherwise, all other idlis are more kids friendly, I mean not spicy at all. But our favorite is Jack fruit idli. Yummy taste. It's taste like sweet. Most of the dishes are within range of Rs. 45 to 70. We will get chutney, sambar and Idli podi served. They could have more tables to sit. Can understand it is near Matunga Station and space will be an issue.

This is one restaurant / eatery where I can boast that I have eaten every single dish on the menu including the accompaniments, unless any new one have been introduced in the last 3 months. Idli as a dish is not new to Mumbai. Idli House introduces you to some specialties from the Karwar region of Karnataka. I appreciate the owners for their sheer conviction in their offering and their guts to start a restaurant only for Idli's; for Idli is not a "Up-Market" dish like Sushi with a niche clientele and premium pricing. For the record, the menu card boasts of 13 different types of Idli's. Every Idli prepared here is unique in its preparation. You get the regular Steamed Idli, Khotto Idli; idli steamed in cups of Jackfruit leaves, Mudho Idli; idli steamed in cups of Kevda leaves, Oondi [meaning laddoo in Kannada; idli served with freshly grated coconut & topped with mustard tempering, Kakdi Idli; idli batter mixed with grated cucumber & coconut. Some Idli's are available on certain days only. I had the Idli Dalitoya, again a Karwari speciality. Idli is served with simple homemade dal with a mustard tempering. The dal is simple & delicious bereft of any spices even the customary chilly. Also tried a Vegetable Idli which has some grated carrot, a couple of french beans in it; nice to taste. I personally didn't like the Sambar they serve its a bit sweet and less spicy for my palate. But what I love all types of chutneys that they serve; white, green, red and also the dry powder chutney. A hard-core Southie will mix the dry chutney with oil, either coconut or til and have the Idli with it. If you are an Idli lover, then you must come here to enjoy the variety on offer. The staff is helpful with the ingredients in case you a have doubt what to order. I am quite sure that "No one can eat just one"

Taste is 10/10. Lots of varieties of idlis. Try their filter coffee. Low to moderately priced hotel. There's a penelty for wasting food and for sharing a plate of idli. They take this very seriously. Overall a good experience for a scrumptious, tasty & quick bite.

They have multiple varieties of idlis available which is a plus. I tried the cucumber idli which was tad bit sweet than my liking but my friend loved it, you could taste the cucumber and there was no compromise on taste, they also serve idli with red chutney and green chutney, ghee and podi is also available. I also tried ukdicha modak which was excellent. The seating area is small so a takeaway is a good option

  • 4/5 Sujay R. 1 year ago on Google
Good variety of idli's are served hot. Post pandemic they serve sambar and rasam in small plastic cups and staff is generous to offer extra chutney or sambar multiple times. We went att exact 7 am so all idli varieties were super fresh and hot. We tasted vegetable idli, mysore rava idli, idliyappam (served with coconut milk and chutney) and super super tasty Kanchipuram idli. Rasam was watery, not so tasty but sambar was very good in taste. Ideal joint for hopping in for quick bite of idli of your choice and go.

  • 4/5 Sridhar C. 1 year ago on Google
Great place if you want to try different varieties of Idli's which are rarely available elsewhere. I had mysore rava idli it tasted good, cost is bit high considering open dine in option with just two tables and people roaming around but the uniqueness makes up for it. Also tried filter coffee, except for serving it in brass vessel just felt ok and is too expensive at 40/- considering it ordinary taste. Highly recommended for Idli but not for filter coffee

Idlis with a difference and a message. If you want to try the best idlis in Mumbai and also with varieties, this is the place to be. Also don't waste anything else you have to pay for it hence the message of not wasting food which is the nice touch from the restaurant. Jackfruit idli is a must try here. It comes with a dollop of butter and is sweeter side but not overpowering on the sweetness factor. Again this is a seasonal dish, so the best time to get it is between Jan to March. Puttu is a cyclindrical rice cake which comes wrapped in a banana leaf and tastes awesome with the orange chutney. Kanjivaram idli is another good idli to try comes in yellow color because of the presence of turmeric in it, with shavings of carrot in it. It tastes good with the white coconut chutney. The seating space is on the smaller side and that can increase the wait time for getting a seat which is the only turn off about this place. But if you want to taste Mumbai's finest idlis then this place in Matunga is a sure shot place to visit.

  • 4/5 Rahul G. 3 years ago on Google

The food served is very delicious and if you are a South Indian food lover you should definitely visit the place. In Idli House you would be getting varieties of Idil's. The service is also too good. This Idli House is not to expensive for food. The service is too fast. In this Idli House Jain food is also available. So all the Jain South Indian food can rush here.

A small humble south indian joint serving piping hot idlis. If you are craving for some mouth watering idlis at a reasonable price look no further. ? What I tried: ? Idli sambhar: 5/5 Origin is always the best. Soft and steaming indlis dowsed inΒ  ?Β Khotto Idli: 4/5 Quite similar to authentic idli but with an additional herby flavour which it gets from the jacfruit leaf in which it is steamed. Texture is soft and spongy just like a regular idli. ?Β Kanchipuram Idli: 1/5 I personally wouldn't recommend this one. But itΒ seems to be an acquired taste which didn't suit my palette. Overpowering aroma from the clove with raisins and cashew just isn't my thing. ? Service: 5/5 Don't expect anything special and you are good to go. Orders come extremely fast as the dish served are always ready. ? Ambience: 3/5 A tiny place with few tables serving some piping hot idlis. ? Overall Verdict: 4/5 If you love idlis look no further. I won't say it the best I have had bit for the price and the old rustic feel its totally worth it.

  • 5/5 Rahul P. 4 years ago on Google
An out-and-out "idli only" place that unpretentiously and unabashedly promotes only idlis. In fact, there are at least twelve distinctly different varieties of idlis with matching numbers of accompaniments. The idlis here are made to perfection always served - freshly prepared, piping hot, and fluffy. The sambars, the rasams and the chutneys are neither sweet nor overpoweringly pungent, just the way they should be, and generously offered again if required. Of course, they rightly take their preparations seriously, as seen from the fine levied if one happens to waste any food. A sister concern of the legendary A. Rama Nayak's of Matunga, Idli House is located near Maheshwari Udyan on the very busy Dr. Ambedkar Road, not too far away from Rama Nayak's. One can easily have a heavy but healthy breakfast for 100 rupees. Other items include kesar sherbat, various packaged South Indian snacks, sambar & rasam powder, and the recently introduced paan poli. Last but not the least, the filter coffee here is as good, if not better than that found in any South Indian home, and made strong to perfection.

  • 5/5 Dhruv N. 5 years ago on Google
The Sambar & chutney are phenomenal in terms of taste. ( They let you have as much as Sambar and chutney as you want for no cost). The filter coffee is also a must try.
