We visited Dakshinayan after a longtime. The feel of the place still remains the same. The quality of food is consistently good with proactive service. They take pride (+vely) in what they serve and make it very comforting for you to enjoy your meals. We had their masala dosa, onion rava dosa and filter coffee. The masala dosa was crispy, masala warm and filling. The rava dosa was very well made though I do feel the size of rava dosa has gone a bit smaller as compared to my past experience (or may be it was one of case). The filter coffee was perfect and quantity was good as well. Overall it was good to re-visit Dakshinayan after a longtime and we hope to visit them again soon! Cheers!

A South Indian restaurant. Serves delicious variety of idli, dosa, utappa, rasam, and not to forget, filter coffee. Every dish is cooked giving attention to detail, and tastes of perfection. The service is quick and the staff, hospitable. Since located on a main road, parking may not be readily available. The area is not huge, so expect some amount of waiting before you get a table, specially on a weekend.

This place is like tooo good for South Indian cuisine. Must go and try it. Ambience is decent not great but food is amazing. Fast service and good quality. Parking available near by. Should definitely try the garlic dosa and malgodi idli like it's fantastic 😍. The price is a little overpriced, it would be great it the price is little lower but quality is superb.

One of the few authentic south Indian kitchens in south Mumbai. The sambhar idli and upma are delicacies where they've got their act right. The filter coffee also just had a "hint" of sugar and was very satisfying. Attentive service and they're liberal with chutney servings which adds to the overall experience. Worth a breakfast visit on a sunday morning.

Very small place and much crowded. Seating is very much congested. When coming to food you will forget all the cons and enjoy the taste completely. Great food and would love to visit once again. Sweet Thayir idly is my favourite one.

I recently had the opportunity to try a dosa in this restaurant and I have to say, it was absolutely delicious! The dosa was thin and crispy, with a satisfying crunch when I took a bite. The filling was flavorful and well-balanced, with a nice blend of spices and vegetables. The presentation of the dish was also top-notch - it was presented on a beautiful platter with chutneys and sambar on the side. I couldn't resist trying a little bit of everything and I was glad I did - the chutneys added an extra layer of flavor to the dosa and the sambar provided a comforting, spicy kick. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the dosa at this local restaurant. It was a true delight to eat and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Amazing South Indian food! The malgapudi idli was yummy so were their dosas! Ragi and Rava sada dosa was excellent! Their rasam vada was good as well! Such a nice restaurant in the vicinity of isckon with mind blowing South Indian food! Really appreciate their simplicity and humble food! Filter coffee was a bit ok as compared to other authentic South Indian outlets!

Good standard South Indian Food. Small place but the only one available in this area. Gets busy after 8 pm and waiting starts. Items are standard with good taste. Lots of Jain options available...

It's a small elegant south Indian eatery right at the confluence of Teen batti. The place seats about 30 to 40 people comfortably. A large variety of good southie food. From dosai and idli to the different rices and beyond. Found the Air Conditioning a little lacking. Decently priced. All in all a nice place for an evening tiffin or a light dinner. Recommended 👍👍

Ordered a rasam idli, sada dosa, and a Malgapodi dosa. The rasam idli was terrible. Extremely sour and salty. The sada dosa and chutney were okay, had requested for Jain sambar and non jain was served. Bad service. Highlight of the meal was when I left the restaurant. Felt at ease.

South Indian (filter) coffee was alright, as was the tomato-onion uthappam. However, it's somewhat pricier than the typical Udupi restaurants and without any uptick in quality that I could discern.

I had a quick lunch here and it was awesome. The looks are simple but aesthetic, the service is prompt and the food is wonderful. Authentic South Indian cuisine that tasted really yummy. The vadas were crispy outside and super soft inside, the dosa was mouth watering and the chutneys were tangy and tasty. I need to mention that the sambhar I had here was one of the best that I have ever tasted.

Food is good, but it's quite a small place having no restrooms. And this is the first restaurant I have ever visited which doesn't have a wash basin for hand wash; finger bowls only 🫣 Seating could have been better as they have mostly benches, no chairs /sofas Ghee sada dosa was too good. Onion rava sada dosa was sprinkled with too much onion. Mini idlis were good.

  • 5/5 Jasmina K. 8 months ago on Google
The service is on point. The food served is also of good quality. On weekends there's generally a waiting of around half an hour. We ordered steamed idli, Dakshinayan 's speciality - Black Pepper Dosa (don't remember the original name) and lemon soda. The experience was good and would love to visit again.

What an amazing experience! This South Indian restaurant in Walkeshwar is a true gem. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that authenticity was their priority. We sampled a wide range of dishes, and each one was a delight. The dosa here is a must-try; it was crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. The service was not only great but impressively quick. This restaurant has a certain charm as an old joint, and it's a testament to their consistent quality. Don't leave without trying their surprise item, the Malai Kulfi – it's an unexpected delight. The only drawback is the lack of parking space, but the fantastic food more than compensates for it. They cater to vegetarians and Jains, which is a huge plus. We personally enjoyed the Tamarind Sevai, Curd Vada, Podi Dosa, and of course, the Malai Kulfi. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic South Indian flavors in a cozy setting. This place truly delivers on taste and variety.

A newly found south indian food (with maximu. tamil influence) in Mumbai through a very good friend and food connoisseur. Barring the atmosphere which is very noisy due to loud mouthed indiaciplined people coming out here, every aspect was very good. Chutneys are exceptional. Quick service was very refreshing change. But surprisingly serving water to clients was always an aspect which was ignored greatly. Car Parking can be a tricky thing while visiting this place. Slightly on costlier end of food prices but it is expected to be slightly more costlier than other restaurants due to its unique lacation in South Mumbai.
