It’s an incredible tour! The tour guide is really really nice and professional, walking us through all the key spots in both the commercial and residential areas of the slum, and he knows really a lot about the industries, people’s life and the history here. We were given all the necessary tips throughout the walking, and really got the chance to see what it’s like to live and work here. Learnt so much! Highly appreciate the effort the tour guide put in, and this is an unforgettable and down-to-earth experience. The guide even buys us great chai tea which is not part of the tour, and helps us in every way he can. Amazing person and tour. Totally worth it.

We booked this guided tour at the last minute through our hotel, and it was genuinely the highlight of our time in India. Rahul’s knowledge of the city was incredible and his secret access to the Dharavi slums was something we couldn’t have dreamed of. Couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough, we loved it. 10/10, 5 stars, everything!!

I really enjoyed the tour and got a little glimpse of India I don’t usually see Review of Small Group Dharavi Slum Tour MUMBAI Reviewed 30 November 2019 I joined this tour and the guide was Sagar, who is a student and lives in Dharavi. Sagar started the tour with a quick explanation of the itinerary and aims of the tour. I thought Sagar was, knowledgeable, informative, spoke excellent English and polite, and the tour interesting. The most interesting thing was that the word slum is perhaps a misnomer. The Dharavi Slum is really just like most of India, just more densely populated, and almost like a self enclosed community with shops, markets, textile, recycling and pottery industries. Overall, I really enjoyed the tour and got a little glimpse of India I don’t usually see. When I see how hard people in Dharavi work, it makes me grateful for everything my country has given me.

Incredible tour with knowledgeable local guides. You can be sure that this isn't a foreign company trying to profit from the people. Run by great people, helpful friendly. The tour itself was enjoyable. The slums are better and more organized than most. So for tourists not used to some rougher sides of India but wanting to experience what some have to live in everyday this is the tour for you.

Honestly the best Mumbai experience you can get if you have one day in the city. Don’t bother to try go on your own. Rahul is a very friendly guide with a lot of knowledge and strong local background. Tour is highly recommended for anyone who wants to see all sides of Mumbai in one day. It was well planned and organized tour with few highlights: Dharavi Slum, local bazaar, Gandhi Muzeum, local souvenir shops or lunch at famous Leopold Cafe. It took around 8-9 hours and was truly great experience (100% safe, fair and professional).

Great experience with Raul..the place is unreal and thanks to the guide we found out how people live and work here. I definitely recommend! The money from the entrance fee is given to the children to study, so at least you will do a good deed❤️

Rahul was absolutely incredible. We are 2 young girls who were a little nervous and we felt very safe with him. We also saw many different parts of the trade and the residences in the slums. Rahul grew up here and is very knowledgeable about everything, including when you can and cannot take a picture. If you are in Mumbai you HAVE to do this tour. Unbelievable, I will tell my grandkids about this.

I was picked up in a comfortable place by Mayur. I had a 1:1 tour and was able to ask everything I wanted and got very good explanations. The tour took me to the washing and drying facility and this was very interesting to see. The tour in the slum then was also very interesting. I got to see the commercial and the communal area and was told everything I asked. Mayur is a very nice, knowledgeable guy who makes you feel safe to travel the area. Would definitely do it again!

Super interesting tour! My guide Rahul showed me the industrial and residential areas of the Dharavi slum. We went there by trein. I told Rahul that I like traveling by trein and he was so friendly to bring me to the slums by train even if this was not part of the tour. Rahul is a very nice person to be with. He knows a lot about how people work and live in the slums. He explained how they recycled plastic, made soap, suitcases, etc and he showed me the very small streets and rooms where the people live. The slum is like city within the city of Mumbai. I really loved to have Rahul as my tour guide. Next time when I’m in Mumbai I will ask him again

Amazing tour. It is done by a local reliable guide so there's nothing to fear about that. You can actually walk in the streets and allies of the slum and see how people actually live there and more interesting- How they make a living. Our tour guide was Raul- Very nice guy, kind, friendly and funny. He made the tour terrific and I can't wait to take another tour with him!

At first I was hesitant to take a tour of the slums only because I it would be disrespectful. However, I felt better since Rahul is from the area and he was proud to show us around. It was very interesting to see how Dharavi is a self sufficient mini city. Everyone was working hard at something in harsh conditions, by US standards, but it was nothing to the locals. You definitely appreciate your own life more and if you ever feel self pity, memories like this tour gives you perspective.

I couldn't recommend this highly enough. We were invited our hosts home, where are helped us make the most authentic Indian food we've had our entire stay. It was great being able to meet and interact with everyone, and we got to know the family and meet everyone. At the end of the night, we all shared in eating what we had cooked up. If you're thinking about going, it's a must have experience.

The tour was really awesome! Kamlesh did a really great job. He explained everything about Dharavi of course but we also had a great conversation in general. Of the three different tour guides we had in Mumbai, he has been the best of the three.

Rahul is such a great & helpful guide, he is very knowledgeable & has an outgoing personality. this tour took around 1.5 hours to drive to from the hotel area in south mumbai, but the travel is well worth it. there are wild monkeys which are AWESOME, the views & caves are amazing as well. thanks to Rahul ! 100% RECOMMEND THIS TOUR

Great trip with Rahul as our guide and Acehchlal as our driver. They were friendly and attentive and also shared experiences and local knowledge throughout the day 👌 From the start we were told how the day would run and what experiences we would have. It was a private tour out of season so we were the only people there which added to a more authentic immersive experience. We sang our own song in a recording studio and had a private dance show with different cultural dances, whilst learning about the history of bollywood and its role within Indian culture. We moved about the sets and we're able to see some live shooting and the complexities with it. It gives you an idea of the industry and a better understanding. Great to experience, punctual pick up time, smooth from start to finish and hassle free. The food at the restaurant they took us to was awesome. Recommend this trip if you want to understand a little bit of bollywood.

My favourite tour guide experience in life so far. Mumbai seen through the eyes of local was something I want to experience. Rahul is the guy. Pro, intelligent, kind and very well spoken. He is all you need from your tour guide. I hope he will be another slumdog millionare. Kudos!

I definitely recommend this slum tour! It was a very interesting experience to see this city within a city. Our guide Rahul was very knowledgeable and told us about how everything works within the slum. It was amazing to see all the business and manufacture that was happening within the slum. I was very surprised at how organised everything was, and how much was happening inside the slum. Seeing how the people lived there was also very interesting. Without a knowledgeable guide like Rahul the experience would not have been so great. As well as the slum tour, I did a city tour of the biggest points of interest. Again, having a guide made the experience so much better than just going around without a guide telling about all the places. I highly recommend both tours. Taina from Finland

I am posting my review from TripAdvisor here! It also contains review for combined Dharavi Slums + Bollywood your which you should definitely check out! Slums and Bollywood work great in combination. Review: Me and my girlfriend were staying for a week in Mumbai which is huge and 7 days is hardly enough… But fortunately we were lucky to find this tour. Guys, believe me, it is amazing! You need to see those two sides of Mumbai life. A private slum to see one end and a Bollywood for the other one. In combination they work perfect, giving you an almost complete (for luxury one - you can go for high-end luxury restaurant in some of the 5* hotels, like The St. Regis and it’s top-floor restaurant By the Maekong) and rich experience beautifully aligned in 1 day. The private slum is very informative and Bollywood activities are so much fun - do not by shy and try dancing with the actors as well as try signing the song of your choice! And keep asking all the questions about Bollywood movies - what is counted as a secret in Hollywood - your guides will amazingly explain everything in detail if you wish! You guides - Rahul and Kamlesh - fantastic guys. They have a very good English, they are cheerful and super supporting. You feel safe and organized with them. Don’t hesitate to reach with all possible questions about Indians and Mumbaikars - they know a lot and are always with you to share. They will never hurry you as well. In addition, I will mention that, they will never stress or hint on tips or whatever, but one super detail I liked about them (during our conversation) is that they consist in a supporting organization inside the Dharavi Slums where they try to gather funds to keep teaching children and organize courses for frowns ups. The one who reads, you are not forced to , but if you will leave a tip - you can be sure it goes for the better as well. Why I mentioned this - is because the biggest part of the tickets price goes for the Bollywood tour (not slums) as of brand and extra tickets- but this tour is incomplete without Dharavi slums and guys do very great job in addition to volunteering! Rahul and Kamlesh - thank you guys and best of luck!

We really enjoyed the slum tour! It was good to get to know about the life in slums and walk around the area. Vishal is a great guide and was happy to answer our questions. It’s also good to know that they support some educational program through profits from the tours so that people in area can learn new skills. They have a classroom for the projects. Overall it was an unique and colourful experience to get to know a bit more about slum life- recommend as a must if visiting Mumbai. Vishal also kindly offered us some chai which was delicious! Thanks! :)
