Absolutely fantastic hostel, I extended my stay in Osaka because of this lovely place. The staff are fantastic and the vibe in the cozy bar is a wonderful mix of travelers and locals. Would not stay anywhere else and look forward to returning someday.

Nice and cozy place. Owner is a nice guy and build everything by himself. The bar is awesome. You can drink local beer from Osaka for an reasonable price. I can highly recommend to stay at the Backstage Hostel because it also have the perfect location. You can reach the Dotonburi Area in a few minutes. Enjoy it!

Overall review: an amazing cozy place to stay at, to drink at, and to socialize at ! Atmosphere: very friendly owner who will not hesitate to sit and talk and make your stay fun and active, nice seating area with very friendly diverse staff. Football games available just ask mike if you can watch it and also a ps4 is there. Rooms : for the shared rooms the bed are wide and spacious and the room has its own shower in it plus one more outside of the rooms , you are given a towel (where other places charge you ) and you have a socket next to each bed and a night light and and a room heater Showers and bathroom : hot water always available and the toilet has a shatafa (water sprinkler) Area : very nearby of Dotonbori ( a 10 minute walk) and metro station that is a 5 minute walk. A Seven Eleven that is 4 minute walk and a coin washing room that is 4 minute walk. Also free Wi-Fi ;) You would truely enjoy the atmosphere.

Hey everyone, Im backpacking for around 4 years (Australia,New Zealand, USA , Europe and now Japan. I highly recommend this Hostel ! Mike and Denny became friends to me and there is always someone to talk to in the hostel. If you're looking for a great Hostel in perfect location that's the one.

Best bar in osaka, owner is extremely hospitable, easy going and always up for some friendly banter :). Good Mixed crowd of locals and international guests to mingle with. You can feel the fanfare right when you enter. And this all coming from a Non regular patron turned regular

I stayed at this hostel twice around 3 years ago in November of 2017. As I was travelling solo it was pretty nice to spend quite a few evenings chatting and drinking with the owner who was a french guy. I believe his name was Michael. I remember the hostel being well equipped, clean and having a bar downstairs, which is always a plus. Salutations d'un Quebecois en Allemagne.

This place is for me the best hostel in Japan ! Really cozy bar with a large choice of beers. It is also very easy to meet people there. Beds are amazingly comfortable and you are not disturbed by people around, thanks to the curtains around your bed. The staff is really nice and helpful, always here if you are looking for information. So if you are traveling to Osaka, don’t hesitate to book at Backstage Osaka Hostel & Bar !

Very nice hostel, clean, comfortable beds and great staff. There is a small bar downstairs with draft beer, whiskey and Espresso Martini (their signature drink), customers are expats and Japanese, very good mix.

Best hostel I have ever been. Everyone went out of their way to help me out as I was in a bit of a sticky situation. Could not recommend higher. Great owner great people great vibe. Will 100% come back.

Micheal has made a really special bar where everyone feels welcome and everyone has a great time. Micheal, his wife and his friends show you amazing hospitality even if you are just there for a drink and not actually staying at the hostel. We are so happy we found this great little bar and highly recommend it! Micheal has a huge range of drinks and can give you great recommendations of what to have. He has very reasonable prices and is open late. Definitely pop in if you are visiting the area!

Fairly new and affordable hostel. Memory foam mattress beds really make sleeping comfortable compared to other places I've stayed at in Osaka. There's a supermarket nearby. If you're like me and don't mind a bit of a walk to Dotonbori, I'd highly recommend staying here. The owner, Mike, runs the bar downstairs and is a super chill and easy-going guy.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. The beds are memory foam mattressess and the beds have curtains. I made a ton of friends and this hostel helped make my stay in Osaka unforgettable. The staff are awesome and the owner is a great guy, so fun to talk to. He will go out of his way to help you and make you feel accommodated. It's also within walking distance to donttenburri walking street where all the shops and food stalls are. Osaka is an amazing city and this hostel made it 10x better for me. I'll never forget my time here for sure

The best hostel ! The host, Daniel is super friendly ,he try to make sure that the customers feel good staying here, and i feel so safe as a women solo traveller. They provide everything you need , shower gel , shampoo , towel, hair dryer, and the bed is so comfy. Especially the location is just 3 mins walk to metro station. Downstair is a bar which is you can get high quality of Kirin craft beer and good price too. I will definitely come back here again.
