We spent 4 nights at Beehive. I'm given this a 5 star rating because on our last time, we talked to the owner, Takashi, and it was the BEST experience. He was really friendly, real and has a sense of humour also. All in all, the whole staff was extremely welcoming and really made this place feel like home. The room was pretty small, not much except for the 3 beds, a tv and clothing rack, but we had everything that was needed. The entire hostel is small and has that "family" feeling to it. Everything else was fine, breakfast consisting of toast and orange juice was provided. Also, free bike rental which is awesome !! The only cons about the room was that it had a pretty strong tatami smell and that if the bed is close to the window, the sun pertrudes inside a bit. However, you can easily get rid of the smell by opening the window and it removes the smell completely.

Set in a district of Osaka loaded with great restaurants, we found the proximity to the river, shopping, and consulates really handy. In terms of a hostel, this place is top notch. It is super clean, easy to access, secure, and the group dining space is comfortable enough to drink a sake and play some cards. The owners and their daughter are wonderful and knowledgeable people who we look forward to meeting again. If your plan is to prepare and cook your own meals, then this place is not ideal as the kitchen is not publicly available, however, there is a microwave and fridge and the breakfast coffee was free and quite good. But really, denying the excellent local selection of restaurant fare would be a serious mistake, so lacking a kitchen is a non-issue.

Nice and clean rooms. You can rent a towel and a toothbrush set here. A hostel with amenities like shower rooms, powder room and enough comfort rooms for all of it's guests. Friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee, milk and a really tasty bread for breakfast is a big plus. I'll be staying here on my next visit for sure.

Great spot for a quick trip! Cute hostel with rooftop and free coffee in the morning. Booked a room last minute with ease. Bikes available for rent. Concierge was incredibly helpful navigating the city and routes to Kyoto.

Very clean and lovely hostel, centrally located within short walking distance to Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, but tucked away from all the busy traffic in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The owner Takashi-San is very very friendly and helpful, always happy to help and chat with guests when he's not busy. Good breakfast is a bonus! Will definitely be back again, thank you for the hospitality! :)

Stayed Beehive hostel Osaka for 3 nights in a twin Japanese style room. The room was quite large which had a small TV and a split system. The staff are very well spoken in English and are happy to assist you with local site seeing and food. The reception/common area offers maps, tour & novel books, bike rental and much more. If looking for budget accommodation in Osaka - this is a great little gem!

Excellent cozy little hostel. Loved the convenient location and the friendliness of the staff. Super clean, comfy with strong wifi. Room is a bit small but all Japan hostels are like this so had no issue. Only thing was the walls must be a bit thin because I could hear person in the room next to me snoring. But I had earplugs so was ok. This hostel is especially nice to stay for concerts in Kyocera dome- less than 30 mins from door to door via train. Would definitely like to stay again.

Stayed one night while visiting Osaka. The location is a little away from the central bustle of Dotombori and Namba but for us that was what we wanted. The hostel is a charming, small place with friendly staff. The shared bathroom and shower areas are clean. The single elevator is quite small and slow but there are easily accessible stairs with a bathroom between every floor.

After arriving at the property at 3pm, I found all the lights were off and was left waiting ringing the doorbell for about ten minutes. Eventually someone (who I assume was their receptionist) opened the door having appeared to have just woken up from a nap. She then proceeded to check me in with such minimal conversation and details. I was genuinely very surprised. The entire property is very old and ramshackle. Don’t expect the washing machines to wash your clothes either. Feels like they may be shutting down the place soon and are just seeing off the remaining customers, hence the poor experience.
