I was looking to purchase a set of knives while in Japan and had gone to a few stores already, but with the language barrier, it was hard to know if I was purchasing the knife I needed. I was having dinner with a friend who lived in Osaka and he referred me to Tower Knives, as they also had English-speaking salespeople. I went to the store the next day and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service in English. The store takes the time to ensure you are purchasing the correct knife and how to take care of that knife. I was able to make my purchase and was confident it was the knife I needed

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A KNIFE THIS IS YOUR PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!! They sell high quality authentic Japanese knives — many different styles, sizes, colors, use cases and even can engrave it with your name on it. They let you try the knives out too and when I cut the sample carrot it felt like butter that’s how smooth it cut. All of the staff were also so amazing and helpful, but extra shoutout to Akari for being SO knowledgeable, great, and answering my a million questions with patience and kindness. Also thanks to Cho for the sweet engraving!! They are both lefties and they sell specific knives for lefties too 🥹 I bought NINE KNIVES lol - they make great gifts for loved ones. GO HERE!!! Thank you so much! A highlight of my time in Osaka learning about the knife craft 😍

I really enjoyed my shopping experience here. The staff are very knowledgeable about what kind of knives will best suit you. They even demonstrated proper sharpening and maintenance of your particular knife, which I am now excited to do at home, as this is my first nice knife. They have a wide selection of both right and left handed single bevel knives as well as double bevelled ones. They also have different steels ranging from classic stainless steels (made in Osaka), carbon steels, VG10's, and probably more I didn't notice. In photo: stainless steel 160mm bunka (6.3") double bevel knife with a classic Japanese octagonal handle I recommend their shop based on their thorough lesson and demonstration on sharpening and maintenance. Their staff are also very friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Great place to get Japanese knives. Staff are English speaking and extremely knowledgeable and will to help you get a knife you need and are more than willing answer any questions about the types of metals on the different knives and their uses. Highly recommended for professional and serious cooks who are look for a proper Japanese knife. Price ranges from $150-$700 for a standard sized chef knife so you know this is a serious place. I always end up here getting something whenever I’m in Osaka.

AMAZING! In the beginning, I thought the place was the typical tourist shop to buy knives in Japan but even though they were several tourists and they speak really good English. We came in and a guy came to find out our preferences and needs, he guides us with a lot of really good explanations about knives and gave us some time to look around. He came back and we picked 3 knives to try, we cut carrots and tomatoes while he was explaining all the details about the options we picked and then we decided for one of them. Then he showed us how to sharpen the knife and gave us several tips. Finally, he offered to engrave my name in Japanese in the knife for 500¥. The shop has tax free so if you have your passport they don't charge you taxes. They also have a youtube channel academy with videos on how to use and sharpen your knife. Prices are really good and they have a big variety of knives, scissors etc. Definitely the best place to buy THE knife. Also, they have another shop in Tokyo! The customer service is just AWESOME they did not try to sell me unnecessary stuff and he was really helpful.

This knife shop is an absolute gem! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to their knives and speak perfect English! The price are very reasonable compared to other places when it comes to the steel they use (VG10, blue steel, and the techniques used in making e.g. the Damascus patterns. Additional services: - they offer a free display of how to properly sharpen knives for beginners - they have display knives for most of their offers so you can try and cut vegetables with them which is incredibly helpful to find out if the grip and the weight distribution of the knife will be a good fit for you - they offer a free engraving service which is done masterfully!

Phenomenal service. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I bought several knives in the Osaka branch. The team were very helpful educating me on different knives, steel types, etc. I was able to try different knives and cut vegetables so I could test balance. The knives are out of this world. They are a sublime combination of form and function. To make things better, 6 months later the team helped me buy some knives remotely ( I live in Thailand). They then arranged to have them shipped to my hotel in Tokyo. Bjorn, Joe and Naka provided excellent and support via email to help me get exactly what I wanted. They also have a store in Tokyo. Thank you everyone at Tower Knives!

I now know why this shop is so popular. No matter your budget, the service is incredible. You get the chance to try different knives to make sure you select the one that's right for you. Turned out the one that felt the most comfortable was on the cheaper end even though I had planned to invest more in a special knife. Prices in general seemed very reasonable with several styles under ¥25,000. You can get a name engraved for free and they also provide knife sharpening demonstrations. We ended up being at the shop for almost 90 minutes! Can't wait to use my knife when I get home! Thank you!

Went with some friends who were visiting Japan and wanted to purchase a chef's knife as a souvenir. Even though I clearly wasn't going to buy a knife, they still took the time to answer questions and were very knowledgeable in all things related to knives. Picking the.the correct knife and testing it out was quite the experience. Allowing you to take it for a test run with carrots and tomatoes was pretty neat to watch. The staff are super patient, great with multiple languages, have a no pressure approach, and were super friendly. My friends got their knife engraved, and the staff demonstrated a quick "how to" for sharpening. A staff member also kindly recommended some local standing bars and places to eat, which turned out to be one of the best nights of our trip.

Amazing shop with very friendly and helpful staff that speak English! Loved the way they explained us everything and provided us with samples to try the blades, explained how to sharpen them and showed the contents of the handle. Very very very patient staff! Was amazed! They also do engraving of whatever you want, and we decided to engrave our names on the knifes and saw how they do it. Great experience! Also saw how they make the knifes. Thank you dear members of staff for our experience and we are happy with our purchase! We also loved the way our knifes were packed in a present wrap with cute golden stickers!

A mandatory stop for anyone visiting Osaka. The customer service here is exceptional. I knew I wanted to get japanese knives during my brief trip to Japan. Towers knives was highly recommended so I brought my family along. It’s in a great area with lots of entertainment and food. The staff greeted us immediately and walked us through the buying experience. We ended up with three multipurpose knives, nail clippers, and scissors. The demonstration on how to use and sharpen the knives made us confident in our purchases. Em answered all of our questions easily and even gave us recommendations for where to eat after. We had the knives engraved for free after posting on instagram and they packaged the ones we were giving as a gift beautifully. My dad was on his last flight as an airline captain and this was a great way to memorialize the trip. Since coming home we’ve all been enjoying using our new knives. It has really elevated all of our cooking!

Looking for a Japanese knife for a gift and found this place based on reviews, it definitely lives up to the hype! I came in and was immediately greeted by two helpful associates, not too soon after a large group of Danish tourists came in but I still was able to get quality assistance. The product range is very wide and I’m sure there is a knife perfect for you here. Unfortunately I didn’t catch any names but the 3 workers that helped me that day were very kind, attentive and well informed. 100% recommend coming here to experience a quality product and service experience.

Tower Knives is the perfect place to find your perfect knife. The staff were friendly and provided excellent information on each style and use of every unique blade shape - you are able to test any knife you would like to try and also have your blade inscribed for no additional cost. Definitely come here if you have the time on your trip.

We Shopped here back in 2022 Winter, Staff are very knowlegable, learn about your habits on cutting and how you hold the knife and they will let you test their knifes cutting tomat/ carrots. They will also show you how to take care of your knife, we learned a few tricks on sharpening. Staff speaks perfect English, 0 communication issue for us, we did engraving on the knifes too, also this shop is eligible for tax free, huge plus! Would LOVE to come back next trip

Great place in Osaka for knives. The staff are extremely helpful, speak English and give good advice. There is a large range for different budget. Ask for 'Lamb', she was fantastic in helping me choose the perfect knife.

My son and I walked into Tower Knives this morning with an hour before having to depart Osaka. The Owner was incredibly friendly, helpful, and able to convey his vast knowledge in a meaningful way to knife laypeople. In 35 minutes we left with a beautiful knife. The engraving was equisite. And we got a quick and helpful knife sharpening lesson. We purchased a reasonably priced whetstone as well. A thoroughly satisfying and enjoyable buying experience. If only purchases back home could be like this. Thank you!

Very happy with my new knives. A big store with walls full of knives up to the ceiling. The guy was very informative and I decided on a coupe of knives in no time. Engraved my names on them as well which was a bounce!!!

Wanted to buy a Japanese knife and ended up getting a Santoku knife here. The staff is very friendly and speak fluent English. Name engraving is free if you follow them on Instagram. Also very nice to get information how the knives are made!

I have to say, I am absolutely impressed with the whole experience and service that I received. From the wide range of knives on display, to the live demonstrations with knives on some veggies and the in depth expertise from the staff. Tower Knives is the place I recommend to anyone looking for high quality Japanese knives ~ Thank you to Bjorn (it was a pleasure chatting with you!) and the team at Tower Knives for making it such a pleasant experience!~ :)

Probably the best representation of japanese hospitality. No pressure in buying, took time to understand my needs, shared information on the maker of the knife and sampled multiple knives of the same range to ensure I got the right pick (probably sacrificed alot of carrots.). Excellent English correspondence too. Could not recommend enough.

I heard about Tower Knives in Osaka from my Kyoto guide. I had been looking for a few knives as i am an amateur chef and my family also likes to cook. I spent some time researching knife shops in Tokyo Knives always came up as a great place to shop. The Bad: There are tour groups who come in from time to time and crowd the place. They look and touch and rarely buy anything. But I guess this is normal for a high end shop that has so many selections and English speaking salespeople. The Good: There was zero pressure to buy anything. Hiroko, my salesperson, patiently explained all of the features of the different knives available. I mustve spent at least an hour asking questions (and comparing prices on my phone...) I ended up buying three gorgeous knives- 2 santoku and 1 vegetable knife called a nakiri- from Tower. I couldnt be happier with the purchase :) THANKS HIROKO! THANKS TOWER!!

We bought a couple of knives from here after a bike tour and we were extremely impressed by the level of service we received. Custom knife handles, engraving and advice. Really nice store, honest staff. Go here if while in Japan like me, you envied a knife.

Beautiful shop with an excellent selection of Japanese knives to suit almost any budget. The quality is through the roof and all of the staff speak English very well, so you really understand what you’re buying. Good knives are an investment, but they make a world of difference, if you like to cook. Spring for the small extra charge and get your new knife engraved with your name or other meaningful words. That makes it truly one of a kind. Extremely friendly—they even have produce for you to practice on before you buy! Highly recommend. Around the corner in the back is a petite showroom and shop with the very fancy (think opening your own high-end sushi restaurant) knives. Totally worth a look see while you’re there.
