This is the highlight of my whole trip. We were so lucky that we are able to catch the local Ikutama Matsuri which is held every year 11 July- 12July. I highly recommend if you have not experienced and japanese matsuri before. Even though the food there wasn’t amazing but it’s still a great experience to have. The taiko performance is truly amazing and it show how crazy osaka people can get.

Large shrine complex with classical architecture and many original structures. Several hundred years old and still used for its original purpose means that there is a truest authentic spiritual sense to the place. Lovely go-shuin to mark the visit. Calm and peaceful place in the center of a very busy city.

Quiet little shrine away from the bustle of other tourists and traffic. There are benches for a more relaxing experience. Architecture and gardens are well maintained and neat.

While you're in Osaka , you might as well visit the shrine. It's a little bit outside the popular places for tourist but you can still visit the place if you walk a lot from one place to another. For example if you walk from the zoo to Dotonbori, then it's possible to visit. You might as wel visit Kogu too

This is one of the oldest shrines in Osaka. The main deities enshrined in it are Ikushima-no-Okami and Ashishima-no-Okami, who are also honored as Yasoshima-gami (the god of the Japanese archipelago). He is also called Naniwa Taisha, but in the Kansai region he is affectionately known as "Ikutama-san". In this sanctuary several festivals take place during the year but lately many are being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The closest train line to the site is Tanimachi Station.

They had some of the biggest Koi I have ever seen. However, there is currently a lot of construction going on so some of the grounds are not as well-maintained as other shrines I have seen in the area.

Even though it might not be the highlight of Osaka, it is still very nice.

Ikutama Shrine, or 生國魂神社 (Ikutama-jinja) in Osaka, Japan, holds a rich history dating back over a millennium. Established in the 3rd century, it venerates the deity Wakumusubi no Kami, known for fertility and safe childbirth. Originally located near Osaka Castle, the shrine relocated multiple times due to wars and urban development. Its current site in Tennoji Park was chosen in 1873 during the Meiji era. The architecture showcases a harmonious blend of Shinto and Buddhist elements. Ikutama Shrine hosts various festivals, including the vibrant Plum Blossom Festival, symbolizing the arrival of spring. Pilgrims and locals alike visit to seek blessings, particularly for familial prosperity and well-being. The serene surroundings and ancient trees contribute to the shrine's peaceful atmosphere, inviting visitors to connect with Japan's spiritual heritage in the heart of Osaka.
