Stopped here for breakfast on our way out of town after hearing it was a great breakfast spot from some locals . Have to say it they were on point . The atmosphere is typical diner which we love . Simple menu with breakfast and lunch items that are all reasonably priced . Our server was great and the food came out quickly despite the place being packed . My wife ordered her eggs over medium which most places cannot get right , Carmen's kitchen cooked them to perfection ! Son ordered the French toast and it was probably in the top 5 best French toast I have ever tasted . The bread was not flat and soggy like most french toast but fluffy and full of flavor. It didn't even need the syrup ! Would definitely stop back by if we are ever in the area again .

I would have given the Cafe a full five stars after my first visit, but I insisted some friends and I go back for breakfast. The first time I went I got biscuits and gravy. My daughter got the Ruben. Both meals were really good and there was enough to take away for a small lunch the next day. The second time I went I got the corn beef hash. AWFUL!!!!! Not only was it a pile of canned hash on my plate, it didn't even seem like a quality brand. For the price I paid, and for it being a small private owned cafe, I expected made from scratch hash. After that second trip, I feel like I will not go back. There are plenty of other places in town who have a better breakfast.

Credit where it is due! The portions are great - easily will fill the most demanding & hungry stomach for under 10$. However, if you see going to a restaurant as an experience and not only a fuel for your body, you may be disappointed. The omelette was under seasoned, lacking fluffiness of a proper dish. Sorta slapped together with bunch of ingredients. The water isn't filtered but straight from the tap carrying a strong taste of chlorine. No WiFi, regardless of having the wireless network ( 'we don't give it to customers anymore' ). The staff was great, but had zero interest in masks or basic PPE. Overall, it is a bag of mixed emotions but next time I may skip it and head somewhere else.

Despite being short staffed our food came out quickly and our waitress was very friendly. If you’re stopping by Muskegon and want a local place I’d definitely recommend :)

I love this place! Staff is super friendly and the food is good and priced good. They have great bread, quality ingredients and you can tell the fruit is fresh and cut up that day. It’s become one of my usual spots. I go at least once a week. My only complaint is that I wish it was open on the weekends so my hubby could try it.

If I could give more stars I would. Food, quality and quantity, is fantastic. The service is the best, and the atmosphere, from the hilarious signs on the walls to the friendly staff is great. IMO, it's in a class of its own.

What a great little hidden gem with GREAT prices and EXCELLENT food & service!

Do you remember the breakfast sandwiches from birds of prey? Add a sausage patties and a thick slice of ham and if you like it runny order your egg over medium (it's served with scrambled egg). If your mouth is watering like mine order the three little pigs sandwich. The homemade breakfast bun it is served on is light and crispy and perfectly buttery. The portion sizes are just right to start your day on the right foot. A big shout out to the wait staff for being friendly and inviting. Defense one of the best breakfast stops in Muskegon!

Great spot to get breakfast. I recommend it to all tourists. Their homemade french toast was amazing and filling. The staff was very friendly and catered to all our needs. I’ve done a lot of reviews but of all of them this might be the easiest five star review I’ve written.

Great little old school cafe close to the lake. Food was amazingly good -- home style, with no holding back on proportions. Service was fast and on point. We'll be back again

Food is always good and prices are reasonable. Personally my favorite place for breakfast. Two things I don't like are the location because it's on street parking in Downtown Muskegon. Second is they are not open on the weekends. Otherwise a great choice for breakfast or lunch. Keep up the great work.

It's always a great place to eat. The food is great but the wait staff is the best. We go every Thursday morning, and you always see the place full of new and long-term patrons.

Great food for pretty cheap. Staff was on point, never had an empty coffee cup, food came out hot and were really friendly. If you come solo grab a spot at the bar and enjoy the company!

First time there and will definitely go back. Fun atmosphere and great staff, service and food. Had a yummy breakfast with the best potato pancake 😋.

With their hours, I can only get Carmen’s during my lunch hour at work. Although I can’t speak to the dining in experience, the staff are always nice and helpful when I get food to go. Get your fries extra crispy with ranch! They also have good gluten free bread!

Our favorite local choice! I always go with the waffle, scrambled eggs and bacon, but my husband likes to try the daily special for something new each time. Carmen’s is a must-visit when we have friends and family in town.

Nothing fancy here including the decor just really good diner food. Servers work quickly to seat you and take orders. Super affordable. A new favorite for our family of 6.

The same as always may not sound flattering but when you are on top, just don't mess with it! Happy place with great food, atmosphere and service! Breakfast and lunch only so don't delay!

A lot of good here! Fast seating, attentive and friendly waitress, my coffee was never more than half empty, prices are fair, omelette was fantastic and decent sized portion, and the atmosphere was overall very friendly.

I’m convinced that I will never have a bad experience at Carmen’s. Their entire staff is so knowledgeable and friendly, the atmosphere is very welcoming, and their menu covers every base. Easily my favorite breakfast/lunch spot downtown!!

Fits all of the above as far as customer satisfaction, customer service, quality and temperature of food, etc. This is our new go-to for breakfast/brunch in Muskegon.

This is the best classic diner in Muskegon! The food is great every time and the servers are all good too. Even when they are short staffed and things take a bit longer I don’t mind because they keep my coffee cup full in the meantime and once the food is served it’s hot and fresh. I also appreciate the selection of hot sauces they have.

The food was excellent. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our server Gabby made my 60th birthday extra special. She was a very friendly, wonderful person that really made you feel that she was happy that you were there. We’d definitely eat there again when in town.

First time there..Not impressed. Menu description for veggie omelet suggested many different veggies. The omelet was huge but contained almost completely hash browns and onion. (Occasional glimpses of mushroom, peppers, spinach) Seriously, i kept hoping the next bite had something besides hb and onion.. Basically had no taste except for onion. Wish I'd gotten my other choice, oatmeal. Thought I was being healthier with the omelet...was there with good friend so that was the positive. Get something else if you go there.

By far me and my husband's favorite breakfast spot. The fried potatoes are to die for. 😋

Can't believe I've never heard of this place, been living in Muskegon for 11 years. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, potato pancakes, and Belgium waffle. I wanted to try a few different items. I usually do that when I try a new place. Just in case I dont like what I ordered. All of them were delicious. The price was awesome and the staff was friendly. Will definitely be back. I would rather spend my money here than some corporate place where the food is not even half as good.

I wish I had found this diner earlier in my week of training. What a great place. Like most everywhere, light on staff but all of the employees were up beat, fast, efficient and so friendly. P.S. the biscuits and gravy are terrific!
