Very interesting and holy place to visit. From top part of this pagoda you can see almost the whole city of Kayan state.

Taung Kwe means broken mountain. It is also called Thirimingalar Taung Zedi as it was built on the hillock called Thirimingalar. The pagoda is 380 ft high and it was built on 9 natural hillocks. It is called 'Phaw Pye' in Kayah language. Loikaw, Kayah State

Taung Kwe Pagoda is one of the tourist attraction in Loikaw city. It is located in Loikaw city area. The pagodas are built the rock hill. The rock hill is combined at the bottom and separated at the top. We can use elevator to go to the main mountain top. We can also use staircase to climb to the mountain. If we want to go to other separated rocks, we can use small bridge and stair that connect between each rock. We can see the view of Loikaw city from the top of this rock hill. There is a small four storey wood built on the mountain and we can see their building technique. There is a myth regarding this place and most of the local people who live in Loikaw city can explain about it. Some local poeple also believe that if a couple visits to this place, they will break soon.

This is the most famous landmark of Kayah State. There are 9 karsts, the tallest of which is over 350 feet. This is why it is called Taung Kwe (Separating Mountains) Pagoda. It is located in the south of Loi Kow city.
