Superb place to know about the tribes of Arunachal. Only downside is that the maintenance is not good enough as several displays could not be seen due to malfunctioning lights. It also has a North-east gallery and a good library

The museum is at a 10 minutes walking distance from Zero point, Itanagar. There are no Signboards on the main road for it. Look for SBI Branch and enter the same street, and then take left from T point. There is an entry ticket of Rs10 or 20 per person. Timings are 10am to 4pm with weekly off on Sundays and Mondays. The ground floor displays information about various tribes, masks across Arunachal Pradesh, those exhibits are really beautiful and worth spending some time. There is a small book store with great collection too. The first floor has a new addition about mountaineering achievements by people of AP, photo gallery of various personalities who have visited AP, clothing from different decades and of tribes. There is a lot to learn about the culture of AP in this one museum. The toilets are neat and clean. There is free parking outside. There are sufficient number of restaurants around it. If you like coffee, muffins and cakes, I highly recommend Hotel Arun Subansiri. Even the restaurant is reasonably priced and offers good quality food. Enjoy your day!

We had been planning for the past few days that we should go somewhere at the coming weekend and we were pretty confused about going where. Then we were looking at the maps and searching for which place might be good for spending time. Finally, this is the place we choose to go. The proper name of this place is Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum. The man at the reception asked us to pay the money for the ticket. Then we asked if there were any concessions for students. Then he told us it was there but we'd have to show our ID cards as proof of being a student. After that, we showed them our IDs and got our tickets and went inside. On the ground floor, the whole section displays the different tribes living in Arunachal Pradesh. It also displayed the various crafts, ornaments, weapons and even utensils of different tribes. It was truly amazing as we were able to know so much we were unaware of. Then we proceeded to the upstairs where there was the gallery showing the archeological sites that are spread across the state, then there was the section where the mountaineers climbed the mountain peaks and made it into the pages of history. There was also a section showing the fabrics and attires of the different tribes as well as a gallery showing the paintings and motifs of the Twang Monastery. Later on, we moved to another extension of the building where there was a whole displaying the culture and heritage of the North-eastern States in India. After spending some time there, we decided to make our way out and started walking to the exit. The caretaker of the museum was so nice that when we were about to get out he enquired whether we explored the whole premise or missed anything on the way. He also told us if we hadn't seen anything then he could keep the doors open for sometime more as it was near the closing time. Fortunately, we saw the whole place. As we bid goodbye to the museum, we started our way to our place. Therefore, it was worth the time we spent there in the museum for a whole day.

If there is any variety left in a preserved environment. You might want to take a right into the allley opposite of Drodel. The small single lane will lead you here.

We had an unplanned visit to the museum. To be honest, we were impressed. Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A warm lighting is soothing to the eyes. The place is clean and well maintained. Knowledge: ⭐⭐⭐ The showpieces depicted the culture and tribes. But a wide description/history chart would be highly appreciated. A curator 👩🏻‍💼 is warmly welcomed. Artefacts: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A completely wrecked plane 🛩️ outside gives an interesting insight of IAF back in the days.
