This market is open only on the Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and it offers a lot of craft work and indigenous items that would appeal to tourists and culture enthusiast. It's located at the car park of the supreme court and was quite busy on both times I went there. Ingenious clothes and materials, carvings, woven items, wood work, bags, slippers, jewelry, I could go on and on. The sellers are quite courteous and friendly. One must be prepared to bargain as the sellers are well equipped. It's a must visit location for all tourists

Walk around and find out the prices first. The first price isn’t the fixed price! Go early in the morning before the sun becomes too hot and the market too crowded, there are beautiful items here that work well for home decor and gifts. It’s amazing seeing all the talented artists working on their art as you’re making rounds In the market. The market feels relatively safe, however just keep your eyes open. Shop and enjoy!

If you’re a tourist you should probably skip this market, because she thirsty. After being aggressively hounded by every shopkeeper (and I do mean every single one), I was exhausted and depleted of energy within 30 seconds. Even if I wanted to purchase something, taking out my wallet probably would have made the situation 100x worse. If you’re into being bombarded by over 10 people at once while trapped in a small space looking for an exit, you should check it out. If not, most of the shops nearby sell similar items.

Please don’t go here and waste your money!!! You will most likely get ripped off. We went to the one near the court on Saturday. Getting harassed by sellers. The prices are way way too outrageous. Better to go to Utamaduni Market with very reasonable fixed prices (I compared the prices for the same items). At least we can say we went here. I got some nice things but at a dear cost—sisal tote bags, mask, Masai bracelet, wall baskets.

The place is a good stop to do all your Kenya trip shopping. If you can bargain effectively, The prices are the best compared to any tourist place across Kenya.

Hubs Kenyan talent. Beads , jewelry , paintings all under one roof. Expresses Kenyan culture and art in different categories. Interested to acquire unique aesthetic pieces this is the place to go. Usually open on Saturdays at the parking opposite reinsurance plaza.

This is a pop up market that is open on Saturdays and Sundays at the parking lot of the Kenya Supreme court. It features a wide selection of original authentic crafts and curios made in Kenya by Kenyans. If you need to bring a gift that will remind you of Kenya for yourself and for others you will find most here from crafts to clothes to fabric to paintings... all manner of wall hangings... its recommended if you're not Kenyan you find a Kenyan to take you there otherwise you will be overcharged

come prepared to haggle! make sure to confirm the location before you head out. it can seem aggressive, as the shop owners will approach you to buy. a lot of the same items, so be sure about what you want and look around at everything BEFORE you buy!

Great place to find souvenirs. Unfortunately there are some very pushy middlemans at the entrance targeting for tourists by saying "we have a new management style - you will only talk to me and not to the actual dealers". This leads to a bad experience since they not stop following you. Additionally this leads to higher prices on costs of the dealers (and extraordinary profits for the middlemans). Be aware!

Great markets but you still have to bargain hard in some stands as they will try to take more money. Be aware the market is moving around the town and won't be every day at the same place, check online. Don't go on Tuesdays as it is taking place in a not safe area of the town.

Most of the items are not handcraft. But if you look enough and have a dervish patience you may find what you are looking for. And also you have to haggle the price. Never accept first, second, third even the forth price they offer.

The Maasai Market is quite a unique experience for anyone within Nairobi, it attracts tourists as well as locals, here you can get a variety of accessories and wares. It has a number of characteristics that make it unique, first, all the merchandise are locally sourced. Another interesting thing to note is that Maasai Market is only open to public only on specific days, this makes it more attractive as this surges for the demand of the goods sold. Everytime I get around, I make sure to collect something from the many stalls, they are quite affordable and is a way to promote the creative artists.

Could give 5 stars if I didn't have to bargain so hard to still be charged double the real market prices and all while being continiously pestered to buy everything my eyes laid on to. Sellers please let the buyers/ tourists peacefully look around and not have to bargain so much.....they will end up buying more for the benefit of everyone! Asante!

BEWARE! Beautiful arts and craft, but an absolute scam. Men outside will tell you they are “guides” and their service mandatory. They will follow you and not leave you alone, all to rip you off at the end, take the vast majority of the money, and give the vendors only a small portion of proceeds. My advice: refuse any services, shop on your own, ask for a price for everything and haggle (extensively), and don’t get ripped off. This is a true scam city and they will take your money if you are not careful. Richard and Joseph were our “guides” and are skilled scammers. They wanted to charge us $300 US dollars for a small wooden craft! Beware.

I visited the market when it temporarily shifted near Kenya High Court. It is a decent place to buy souvenirs from Kenya. The place offers variety of souvenirs at affordable rates. Rates vary significantly, so feel free to negotiate but while negotiating, do remember that many of them earn less and payments for souvenirs should be made based on your own assessment of products' worth rather than how much you could squeeze them.. I do not regre the payment I made even if it was more than what I could have got it for because in my home country, I would have paid somewhere equivalent for something similar.

Good experience at the market. Venders do ask you to look at their goods but were very respectful when we said no. Our trip was fun with me even dancing with a lady vender in the market and my sister trading her hat for a wooden sculpture. We bought a few masks and felt we got a very fair price. I found the people very lovely. No one was rude to us when we didn't buy from them. No one tried to act as our guide and we walked around without hassle.

A great range of handmade souvenirs. Expect to need to bargain heavily and deal with friendly (but determined) sales banter, but still a really good place to get gifts etc. Do check which days it’s operating here (eg for our visit it was here on a Tuesday) as the market moves around the city each week.

The Maasai Market in Nairobi, Kenya, is a vibrant and culturally rich experience that offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions and craftsmanship of the Maasai people. Having visited the market myself, I can attest to its authenticity and the memorable experiences it provides. One of the standout features of the Maasai Market is the wide variety of traditional Maasai crafts available for purchase. From intricately beaded jewelry and accessories to colorful clothing and footwear, the market is a treasure trove of handmade items that showcase the exquisite artistry of the Maasai community. The craftsmanship is impressive, and each piece tells a story of Maasai heritage and culture. What sets the Maasai Market apart from other markets is the opportunity to engage with the artisans themselves. Visitors can interact with the Maasai sellers, learn about their craft, and even watch them create their works of art. This personal connection adds a depth of meaning to the items purchased, as you gain insight into the cultural significance of each piece. The vibrant and lively atmosphere of the market is another highlight. Traditional Maasai music and dance performances add to the ambiance, creating a lively and festive environment. It's not just a shopping destination; it's an immersive cultural experience. However, like any bustling market, haggling is expected. Bargaining is part of the fun and allows you to get the best deals on your purchases. Additionally, it's important to exercise caution and be aware of your belongings, as crowded markets can be prime spots for pickpocketing.

The people were just short of barbaric! I was here in 2018 and the service was good! Today they harassed, stood in our way, shoved items that we didn't even want into our faces, and it was a disgrace that this behaviour will only deter people away. My hotel suggested we visit Galleria or Karen which we intend too, because the sort of madness witnessed today, albeit the tough economic crisis presently due to corona, was the worst experience in any Kenyan market! They should stop the harassing, shouting, surrounding, bullying and all round craziness! 😤

The market with traditional curving and the maasai tribe beads. Very well decorated beads with a fine art of work.

Very poor experience The place is scary, with no police or security around or inside, not enough daylight. I do not advise you to go unaccompanied And you will need to bargain because prices for non residents are just incredibly expensive 🙄 It is impossible to confirm articles' origins, for the sellers, it is all massai made 🤔

Big rush but good quality local hand made items are available. Price is ok if you are good in bargaining.

We visited the Masai market located near the high court. They have a variety of African themed decor pieces, clothes and different types of beads. We met quiet a few friendly venders. One thing you need to keep in mind is to negotiate especially if you are a foreigner. Also be careful of your surrounding when you are in this area. Overall we had a good experience here

Everything Kenyan!!! Beautiful artefacts and clothing, loved the kiondos, jewellery and clothing the most. Be ready to bargain for your best price :-) My partner is all for supporting local talent so this was the perfect place to spend our afternoon shopping.

We did some research and found that the Maasai Market is in front of the supreme court building on weekends. When we entered we had 2-3 men try and walk around with us to be the middle-men for the vendors. We were polite and consistently told them that we were just looking on our own. After a while they walked away. The vendors are all passionate about what they do and are creating beautiful things. Some are even building/painting/making as you shop. I was overwhelmed with how large this market was and how many incredible pieces of art there were - intricate beaded jewelry, clothing, textiles, paintings, bags, wooden carvings, soap stone carvings, masks, the list goes on. I really enjoyed looking at everything. But it is true that you will likely be approached on a constant basis because people are trying to sell you their items. If you keep this in mind and come with the right expectations you will have a good experience. I found a small beaded basket that I really liked and negotiated a price with the woman selling that we both felt was fair. It is definitely a market to visit if you're ok with negotiating and being approached.

Very vibrant market. Definitely worth visiting. Keep in mind, the market keeps moving. So, make sure to ask locals before heading out. Bargaining is a must if you plan on buying. Make sure to start with 1/3rd of the asking price.

Best spots for hand craft items. We had purchased beautiful handmade jewelry, bands and bags. worth carrying the cash in KES, would definitely recommend to try bargaining skills as it really helps. If you are a solo travelling woman recommend visiting prior to evening hours, definitely worth visiting. Closing timings of the market is around 7pm

If you love Art especially African Art please come closer this is for you. For lovers of African art, souvenirs, artefacts, jewellery attires and home decor trust me this market will never disappoint. On different days, different places get to experience the market's beauty. I never know why the market moves, could it be because of the space for the artists to set up their displays, or is it because the artists want to reach the clients where they are, I don't know but I will make it my mission to find out. The artists are very friendly and they have very affordable prices depending on the product.
