Nice airport and the people here are quite friendly and also different from how people usually paint them. From the immigration and airport staff are always willing to help. Had to stay Amin one of the lounge for my layover which was a lovely experience. So I think I’m going to officially visit Kenya to enjoy the safari

Definitely not the best Airport in Africa but I’ll applaud them for trying to be. Despite being one of the popular airways in Africa, they still lack a thing or two. The infrastructure looked so old and rusted. Their professionalism wasn’t quite impressive at all. I wasn’t so happy with the passport control officers at the departure terminal. However their security checks is definitely okay for me. I don’t think I would ever depart with a Kenyan airways. These people are just extorting money from COVID tests and stressing people unnecessarily

The airport requires you to remove your shoes during security checks. There is free airport WIFI. There are available arm chairs to seat on during waiting. A TV for entertainment. They also have recline chair for deep rest and sleeping. There are led information boards everywhere which makes communication easy. There are spots for soft drink purchase.

Nairobi's International Airport. The services are good and fast. The only standardised airport of Kenya. The lounge facilities and duty free should be improved. Too much hassle for the long lay over. The don't have places to retire or eat much inside the airport. Overall its an average airport. Kenyan Gov't should improve the facilities for the travellers as its a hot tourist destination.

Certainly! Here's a review for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport: "Jomo Kenyatta International Airport stands as a significant travel gateway, offering a well-equipped and expansive infrastructure. Travelers are greeted with a spacious and organized terminal, facilitating a relatively smooth check-in process. The airport provides a range of essential services and amenities, allowing for a comfortable experience while waiting for flights. Staff members are generally accommodating and contribute to the efficient functioning of the airport. However, during peak hours, the lines at security and immigration can be a bit congested, but the overall experience is positive due to the airport's facilities and functional layout, making it a convenient travel hub in Nairobi."

The airport can get to be chaotic very fast depending on the number of flights and passengers travelling but overall the staff do an awesome job of controlling the crowds. The Check-in process could be better streamlined for smoother operations without compromising security but having passenger inspection twice at entrance then check-in to me does not make sense and makes for an inconvenience to the traveller and no doubt an operational overhead.

My first advice to all do not offer any money to airport officers. When you are in arrival terminal queue to get the endorsement from immigration officers, some of airport person come to help you and finally they ask money... apart of that Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi is the largest and busiest airport in Kenya, serving as a major hub for international travel in East Africa. Here are some tips to make your experience at the airport more comfortable and convenient: Arrival and Departure Process: Arrive at the airport well in advance, especially for international flights, as check-in and security procedures can sometimes take longer than expected. Plan to be at the airport at least 2-3 hours before your international departure and 1-2 hours before domestic flights. Visa Requirements: If you need a visa to enter Kenya, ensure that you have obtained it before your trip. Check the latest visa regulations and requirements with the Kenyan embassy or consulate in your country. Currency Exchange and ATMs: There are currency exchange offices and ATMs available at the airport, so you can exchange money or withdraw Kenyan shillings upon arrival. It's advisable to have some local currency for small expenses and transportation. Luggage Security: Keep your belongings safe and secure. Use TSA-approved locks on your checked luggage, and keep valuable items and important documents in your carry-on bag. Duty-Free Shopping: Jomo Kenyatta Airport offers duty-free shopping options. If you plan to buy any duty-free items, make sure to check the allowances and restrictions for your destination country. Dining and Refreshments: There are several restaurants, cafes, and food outlets at the airport. While waiting for your flight, you can enjoy a variety of cuisines and beverages. Internet Connectivity: The airport provides free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected during your time at the airport. Look for the Wi-Fi network and follow the instructions to connect. Lounge Access: If you have a long layover or want some extra comfort, consider accessing one of the airport lounges. Some lounges offer amenities like showers, refreshments, and quiet spaces. Transport Options: Depending on your accommodation and destination, there are various transportation options available, including taxis, ride-sharing services, and shuttle buses. Always use authorized and reputable services. Travel Advisory: Check for any travel advisories or updates related to Nairobi or Kenya in general before your trip. Stay informed about any potential security or health issues that may affect your travel plans.

I was pleased to return back to home after a break away. Much has changed, infrastructure, shops and security. Am a proud citizen , I found enough gift shops and great prices . Comply with the requirements and proceed to the sitting area . Clean washrooms was a plus as the airport is busy!! I recommend this airport to all

One of the best airports in Africa. I've used this airport three times, it has modern facilities required to run modern airport, good choice of restaurants/cafes/bistros at the food court, etc. The staff at the health port are however corrupt and extort money from passangers.

I only dropped it to a 4 because of construction. It’s a good sized airport with plenty of duty free and eating shops. If you have a lounge club card there is a lounge down around gate 1 that is very nice. The airport is a semicircle so gate 1 is the far end of the semicircle. Security is good but you will drive through one area that is before which is a security stop then baggage and body scan in airport then again to get to gates.

Inside the airport shops nothing is fixed price. When I requested for the receipt, several cashiers told me that printer not working. I checked the price of packaged mineral drinking water in 4 different locations with 4 different prices for the same bottle!!!! $3 or 350 Kenyan shelling or $2 or 300 shelling goes on. Airport officials should do something about it. Cheating inside the international airport is not a good sign.

Large airport, with well maintained facilities. Relatively nice duty free section, and a thoughtful - though insufficient - plan for layover travelers (sleeping benches, charging docks, etc). The main drawback of this airport is the way things can get messy with a huge crowd of passengers, depending on how many airplanes land at the same time. This notwithstanding, it’s a really nice airport.

Beautiful in the night. Relatively fast service at the security checkpoints. I wish there was a place for loved ones to stay together even after checking in because those last moments before they leave matter a lot.

Sim cards and atms available. Only one ATM and it wasn’t working. Get safaricom sim cards are recommended. Fast moving lines at immigration. Good and hassle free wifi. Sim card places are open 24/7.

I still don’t understand the logic of stepping out of the car and joining in ahead after a search that does not make sense coz that search machine beeps any way. It’s a struggle to check in with kids coz you really find help. At a point we had to struggle with the twin stroller at the final checkin after passport control. The kids changing room is so unpractical. There was only a sink that has no water and a mirror. No Changing space. The room had also censored lights which was very unnecessary. Imagine changing your child and you need to move backwards every 1 minute so the lights can come back on. Generally the airport looks so clean and well organized.

The Kenyan authorities should feel ashamed by this airport and the non-sense going on with security check after security check. Nowhere in the world passengers need to leave the car 5km away for a security check while leaving the luggage in the car. Absolute non sense. More: stupidity. After an amazing stay in Kenya, a modern country, full of lovely and intelligent people, the government wants tourists to go home with a last image of a third world airport. Insane. Stupid. Non sense.

The airport environment was clean also with cleaners at every point cleaning. Washrooms were clean and accessible between gates. There were charging stations for phones, i only recommend they put as part of the seats or close to them. There is a need for better technology in their security control to reduce traffic when travellers are going to their gates. They had Dutty free and a food court.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is an international airport in Nairobi, the capital of and largest city in Kenya. The other three important international airports in Kenya include the Kisumu International Airport, Moi International Airport and Eldoret International Airport. JKIA is located in the Embakasi suburb 18 kilometres (11 mi) southeast of Nairobi's central business district, the airport has scheduled flights to destinations in over 50 countries. Originally named Embakasi Airport, the airport's name was changed in 1978 to honor Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president and prime minister. The airport served over 7 million passengers in 2016, making it the seventh busiest airport in passenger traffic on the continent. There are two terminals. Terminal 1 is arranged in a semi-circular orientation and is divided into four parts: 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1E are used for international arrivals and departures while terminal 1D is used for domestic departures and arrivals. Terminal 2 is used by low-cost carriers. The original terminal, located on the north side of the runway, is used by the Kenya Air Force and is sometimes referred as Old Embakasi Airport. Figures from KAA indicate that the airport's Terminal 1-A has a capacity of 2.5 million passengers  The Kenyan government is targeting over 25 million passengers annually by 2025 on the expansion of JKIA's terminals. In 2016, JKIA accounted for more than 70 per cent of overall passenger traffic in the country. It also had over 7 million passengers pass through it. Domestic travellers through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) made up 40% cent of overall passengers in 2016. This is an increase from 32% five years prior (2012). The main entrance to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is on Airport South Road, which can be accessed by an exit from the A109 highway (Mombasa Road). Passengers can also travel to and from the airport via city Bus Route Number 34 Taxi and Car rental services are well represented. A link to the Nairobi Commuter Rail network has been proposed.

Security is definitely their strong point. I respect that though. Before entering the airport you'll have to provide a PCR test (with reciept) and your passport. After that is cleared, you will have to go through a preliminary security check (bags, electronics go through the scanner) . Then you'll enter the main check-in hall. After that you'll go through the general immigration/passport check before going through yet another full security check before entering my favorite part of the airport - Duty Free shop! Then you're all set. People were mediocrely friendly, but what can you expect??

Well marked roads, although the rubbles as you approach inhouse parking are quite unforgiving to shocks, I wish they could redesign. Parking fee quite high particularly after 1hr. No resting chairs for waiting passengers.

Having been to quite a few airports across the globe I found the onboarding of this airport to be very fast and good. It was seamless, unlike others where it takes a lot of time. In fact I found it better from a security perspective as well & despite having an international flight the onboarding was seamlessly done in half an hour. Also the airport is well maintained and the staff here was helpful. It is definitely one of the best airports I have been to so far.

Big - modern and very clean airport in Nairobi. Very easy to find gates but lot of workers asking for money (specially when you are an stranger). They insist to support for money. Lot of shops where you can buy SIM cards (arrival) and gifts (interesting duty free).

The que was long but the service at the security desk was quick and hassle free. There are major improvements. Leave early as traffic is really bad getting into JKIA. Also be ready for long queues. Due to Covid, and social distancing, things move slower. Get there early to avoid missing your flight.

JKIA terminal has three sections catering for both arrivals and departures. Sections one and two are used for international flights and section three is used for domestic flights. Check-in occurs through section one and two depending on destination and all the check-in counters operate on a CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment) system. There are eight gates in the departures area and the aircraft are boarded via boarding bridges. International arrivals disembark via the same gates into the A concourse which leads to the immigration counters on the first floor before they are directed to the baggage hall on the ground floor. Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) and signage are in place to assist the passenger finding their way around the airport.
