I loved the sushi and the prawns here oh my days. The prawns had a lemon butter taste to it super juicy too probably the best grilled prawns I have had in Nairobi. The ambiance has a good buzz to it. We order the prince prawn and the quantity was really good and I loved how scrumptious they were. For sushi we ordered the California roll with coriander bomb, California roll with crunchy athena and California roll with with fried prawn they were all prawn filling sushi and was really delicious. I love the Garlic, Mayo and green chilli dip it adds a lot off flavor to the food. Ocean basket has opened in Westgate mall and it has an amazing buzz to it.

Always wanted to try this place. I had the sticky rice with prawns and mussels. Also had a serving of rainbow sushi (tuna and avocado). My companion had salmon with fries and calamari. I liked my sticky rice, although the temperature was not as hot as I like. ( I like piping hot food) The dish was also a bit heavy on the citrus for me. It wasn't overpowering in any way. My taste buds expected something a bit more savory and "seafood-like". But the sushi was very good. My companion said her salmon was perfect. Some idiots at a nearby table decide to start smoking. But fortunately it was near the outside section. Still, the smoke stunk up the area. Overall....nice little seafood option in Nairobi. Was in and out for under $40

If you’re in the mood for good seafood, this is one place I would definitely recommend. No fuss no muss just seafood

I have eaten at Ocean Basket over 30 times now. This place is definitely a hotspot for seafood. Wesly knows me as Mohammed. Pros of ocean basket: - Delicious food ( I recommend their sushi, mussel soup, fried fish). I eat here everytime I am at westgate. - Good portions. - Great ambience - the restaurant brings out the chill, ocean vibe. - Clean restaurant. The 1 thing that does need improvement is the time the food takes to arrive. I think the staff need improvement as they are slow. Besides this, this is an amazing restaurant and I would recommend their food to any fellow seafood lover in Nairobi! I would rate them 10 stars ⭐️ for their food! I’m hoping they add Lobsters and oysters to their menu 😆

One of the best sea food restaurants around. The set up is intimate and perfect for conversation. Not too loud. They have a variety of sea food options and they have a sushi menu too. But their 10/10 meal are their prawns. Highly recommend this place for all your sea food cravings.

The sea food was amazing! Well cooked and tasted great! I’m particularly picky with sea food since most places leave them uncooked fully, ocean basket is an exception. Everything was well done and the juices were on point too!

Great ambience with soft background music. My first try with sushi was worth every coin and the waiter taught me how to use chopsticks. Great sea food, calamari, octopus,prawns and more! and good customer care service!

Great service plus friendly stuff. Had their sushi platter which I would rate a 3/5. Washed that down with their Mojito which I will also rate a 3/5 (first one was a bit too weak for my liking but improved on the 2nd one)

I loved the food as always, ocean basket is the place to be when it comes to seafood. But the thing I disliked when I was there last, was the way the staff were flipping chairs over the tables while we and other customers were still dining in. It wasn't right because they made us feel we should eat faster and leave. I hope they change this behaviour. But otherwise all else was perfect! 😉

It's a good place to have some good sushi however their platter can be much better. The fish was not fresh at all! Service is mediocre... When we requsted to see the manager, he flatly refused! If you Want to spoil your evening then go here otherwise order sushi take out and enjoy it at home! Place is not worth it

I got a takeaway Sushi for one, service was impecable and the maître d helped me choose sometbing suitable. Food was fresh, loved the amounts of ginger, wasabi n' soy sauce. Great also for groups.

Randomly walked in and thought the nautical decor was interesting, the welcoming nature of staff got me looking at the menu. Great selections of seafood including sushi and interesting selection of drinks. I found the sushi, prawns, calamari is be excellent. Even the bread appetiser at the beginning comes with an interesting selection of dips which is worth a visit just for that alone. I liked this place so much that I came on consecutive days. The apple and mint cooler although sugary was very nice.

Tried the new mango cucumber salad which was excellent. The whole fish red snapper was not upto expectations. It is value for money but the pili pili sauce was very sad.

This is my first time to this location. The terrace is nice, but it can be hard to catch the waiters attention as they group near the kitchen to chat. The food was really good; we ordered a platter for two. My only gripe is that it wasn’t very hot- presumably there are too many items to cook so they didn’t mange to finish them all at the same time. I would order a smaller dish to make sure it’s all piping hot. We also ordered the house white wine, which was good enough.

Had the seafood platter for 2 the food was fresh the quantity was good and the taste even better. The COCKTAILS,HOWEVER, were watered down af. We ordered the pitcher of cosmopolitans and it just tasted like seltzer water. I was extremely disappointed. Next time am just coming for the food coz the alcohol is not worth it.

Intimate little restaurant, has the most beautiful lighting in the afternoons; the sun is gorgeous. Ordered their fish and chips, was super tasty. However did feel their portions are a little on the smaller side. However their prices are decent.

Ocean basket, a South African franchise in Nairobi Kenya. I visited the one in Westgate Mall. Food is of comparable quality with the ones in South Africa . Price is a bit on the high side. A cool place with well mannered staff.

They have the best seafood platters in Nairobi. The fish was my best on the platter a 10/10 Their complimentary bread basket has one of the best breads i have had in Nairobi

Horrible experience. 20 minutes to get a high chair for our baby. We found out 30 min after placing our order that they hadn’t even started preparing our meals. They then brought us 1 dish out of the 3 we ordered and after another 10 min we found out they were still preparing our other dishes which were just salads or sashimi, not requiring any cooking. We lost appetite so we just decided to pay our bill and leave the place. Not even an apology received. Very poor service.

Came in solo on a Saturday evening. It started out well, pleasant servers greeting me with smiles. Sat down, ordered and had a delicious meal. That was the end. 45 minutes after finishing my meal, I was still waiting for my server to show up. Don’t know if she had gone on break, didn’t care. Was too annoyed at this point to even order a dessert. Just asked a different server (Diana) for my check. Paid and left.

I had calamari and salmon, my partner had sticky rice, i definitely enjoyed my dish- the calamari esp was gorgeous. I would def recommend. Only downside is they close a bit too early and we had to leave earlier than anticipated.

Going to restaurants in Nairobi is an extreme sport. Many a time I have gone out for a meal only to have my heart broken and my taste buds disappointed.. Today, I am happy to report is not one of those times. Ocean Basket is in a word, wonderful. Forget the decor, forget the service, forget the location, the food itself is divine. If food was the only criterion, then this would be one of the few five stars I have awarded. As it is I had to lop off one star because the service was merely adequate as opposed to excellent. Don't let that stop you from visiting it though. The food makes everything worthwhile. Deeeelicious.

Speaking as a tourist, the place is pleasant, nice location and ambience, well mannered staff, place settings etc very good for relaxation in between exploring and shopping with the family. I only wish that they had a menu accompanied by sample pictures of the meal to make choices simpler

The ambiance and service is very well done. Food was very tasty and well portioned. I was disappointed with the cocktail (strawberry daiquiri) barely had any alcohol content.
