Great meals and drinks! Spent two nights in Napier and went here for dinner each night. Friday drinks from 5 get you tickets for the wheel spin. My wife won the first draw and got 30% off next round! Brilliant place. Safe and friendly. Best thing you order a rare steak and you get it!

Food ok, but it could be better.. if you're having nacho, you may choose to remove peanuts.

Fine selection of beers including Otago University Brewery ales ( well worth trying). Good atmosphere for a generic "Irish Pub".

The service was great and the food was wonderful. Music was also great. Couldn't fault it really. Good access for wheel chair and walker and good parking outside. Great all round feeling.

I am sorry but I think something has happened in the last wee while. I checked out the meals before I ordered to see what would be nice to have!! The Guinness pie did look to be a small portion as said in another review. the chicken curry looked to be something my mom would cook many many years ago with frozen veg , anyway I decided to have the sirloin steak with mushroom sauce…….. oh dear I actually had to scrape the mushroom sauce off because it was so bad. Definitely felt like it was almost out of a packet with extra salt and no identifiable mushrooms in sight, the chips were average. And the salad also was bad drenched if too much dressing I think to cover the wilted leaves… now to the hero the steak which was ….ok….. and being that was all I could eat. Now I didn’t get a photo of the menu sorry BUT it’s different isn’t the menu showing on here otherwise I would’ve had something different so maybe it has been updated or kitchen has changed…….

A very rare night out for us and we were looking forward to it. Nice pub, liked the atmosphere but the food was really disappointing. Stingy serving and definitely do not recommend the nachos. I guess I should take some responsibility for ordering a Mexican dish from an Irish pub. Wish I had taken a photo but just didn’t think about it.

We visited Mission and were lucky enough to catch Hugh on his last day, he was fun and informative with an expansive dialogue, we wish you the best in Sweden! The tasting was awesome value with the free glass and the cab franc was superb!

Popped in around 1:30pm, not many guests around. Service was a little slow, but we got their attention eventually. Ordered the Fried Chicken Burger as I was craving something spicy. It was... everything I wanted and then some. The fried chicken patty was both tasty and juicy, and the sriracha & peri peri dressing had a nice flavourful punch which really elevated the burger. There is a wide selection of beers here, but I only had a chance to try the sugarloaf, which was great. I would visit again just for the Fried Chicken Burger and a glass of Sugarloaf beer.

This was great. Bit confusing on the way in as the place looks like a cross between a Thai restaurant and a betting shop, but once you're inside the beer is top notch, the food good and the service good. And there's a beer garden so great for the kids.

Lovely retro hotel where the ferry used to be pre-1920s. Fantastic brewpub with quality guest beers, knowledgeable but friendly staff and great food. say no more

Stopped in for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised with the interior. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable. Plenty of parking available across the road during peak periods.

Awesome little brewery, they have two bars one for family. The food is excellent, definitely try the home made BBQ sauce. A massive selection of craft bears, some are local some are from far abroad. You'll defiantly find something to your taste here. They also do a brew tour own beer service, you pay to use the equipment and can craft your own special brew. Kids are more than welcome here with places to pkay and a decent selection of toys and games. Great place to go for after work drinks or a quick Sunday lunch. Or if sport is more your thing the sports bar shows all the important stuff on the big screens.

Always a good atmosphere here even on quiet nights, Quiz night on a Wednesday is always good as is the Guiness and Kilkenny on tap! The wedges make a good bar snack too!

Would give less than 1 star for the beef and Guinness pie if I could. Small portion 2 small bits of meat and random gravy. When they say chard of pastry my wife had fatter chips with her fish.

My first time here. 3 people in the place (18:00-19:00), I would expect my bacon be cooked at least, not a fan of big chunks of onions and lettuce on my burger. Not the best first experience. Friendly barman.

Whilst a nice Irish pub with plenty of atmosphere, heaps of seating and a good place for watching sports. The food is terrible. Tasteless, bland and near inedible. Chips on all meals were undercooked, soft and mushy. No salt or seasoning at all. The steak was medium rare on one half and blue on the other. It was a limp and sad looking steak. The pork belly was all fat and no pork. And I really mean no pork, have never had worse pork belly. For the amount of fat it wasn't even crispy. For a beer and sport check it out. But eat before you go.

Had great experience here with friendly staff. good food an good selection of craft beer on tap. Apparently a good wine selection too. Had good wheelchair access As we had friends/family with disabilities as other places in the area I found did not cater to this, Way to go guys. I reckon its a must visit if your a local or not. Keep up the good work friends.

Had a few different options to choose from in Napier but decided to go here as we were in the mood for a descent feed. Definitely worth going here. I ordered the pork belly and boy oh boy it was delicious and worth the choice!

Great place to have a drink. The live musik was amazing and the place is stunning. Charming decor and a lot of different oportunitys for every kind of group. From little separated Chambers to Lounges with couches or bar chairs next to the billard tables.

Cool old Irish pub. Aesthetically it's a very heavy (dark wood, dim lighting)pub, but the atmosphere is very lively...great balance, some cute little nooks, like the back entrance through the masonic behind it.

Ordered the steak with garlic butter. Oh dear, was sure like ghee with no garlic. Was going to have dessert but ah nah! Wont be rushing back here or recommending.

Food average - belly pork - really dry but most of all the stink in the ladies toilet. I reported it. I use a walking stick so can’t use those upstairs. I was told it was seen to. I went to the toilet before we walked back to our hotel and the smell was worse. I left. Disgusting

Went for dinner and the quiz. Food was average at best. Drinks very great nice guinness which is always a plus. Quiz took 3 hours and was made challenging due to quiz master not being able to pronounce/read the questions properly. Overall will return for drinks potentially but definitely not the quiz or food.

Nice pub with a good selection of drinks and a great offering of gluten free food. We had the steak sandwich and it was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient.

Very good food, great beer, and a fascinating atmosphere. You should definitely visit this pub. Also, an additional word praise for the staff: we arrived just a couple minutes too late, the kitchen was officially already closed, but they still allowed us to order from the full menu, saving our dinner. Thanks a lot!

My husband and I went here on Saturday 28 January for lunch. The food was very delicious I had loaded wedges and my husband had a cheese burger with fries which he loved very much. The staff were very friendly and happy even though the weather was very miserable. We will be going back . Keep up the great work 👍

Have had better! Last here a few months ago maybe some staff changes. Fish n Chips had mountains of warm stringy fries vs nice chunky chips, fish batter over done and salad flavourless. Oddly server removed our utensil holder after we started to eat. Ketchup portion delivered in a teeny tiny serving, needed x2 at least.

We loved this pub and made a point of going there every time we came to Napier but tonight will be the last time. I ordered the calamari and it was definitely on the turn. The barman was polite in taking it away and apologised. We waited 30 minutes and no one came back to us. So no dinner and no refund.

Great location and nice traditional Irish pub with very friendly bar staff. Shocking food!! We ordered the Lamb Shank Rogan Josh curry. Which looked far better than it tasted. No seasoning. Very watery. Very bland. Very disappointed. We weren’t even asked whether we enjoyed our food or not. What a sad finish to a great day otherwise. Sort the chef and the kitchen staff ASAP!!

How you would expect an Irish pub; nice wood furnishings that create a lively and warm atmosphere. The Rose also houses a collection of old radios, telephones and other collectables which makes it an interesting place to sit and drink, or play Pool. The food isn't outstanding in taste, presentation, or price; but it isn't bad. A nice place to hangout, but perhaps walk across the block for lunch?

I'm a seafood chowder buff and this chowder was damn good. Not too creamy. Not too thin. AND NO VEGES IN IT. Just soft prawns. Tender calamari and fish with soft mussels. Yep. My kinda chowder. YUM.

I went there 4 times and I can say that’s my favorite place in Napier. Comfy ambience, nice furniture and good service. The fish and chips dish is absolutely delicious. You can even have fun with a pool table and slot machines.

Spacious and comfortable English Pub, showing British sports on TV, Guinness on draft, and the most recognizable beers and spirits available. Food was decent as well. We had chowder and fish and chips. Both were very good. Good solid choice for pub grub and drinks. Highly recommend

Went into get a feed as recommended by the hotel I was staying at, People were eating but I was apparently 40 minutes too early before meals were being served. No offer to stay and have a few beers When you have service like that why would you want to.
