This monastery is beautiful. With a museum and a wonderful courtyard. With the ruins of ancient roman baths on site, here is a treat not to be missed. The frescos and courtyard garden are well worth the price of admission.

The construction of the monastery began in 1313. In the 17th century it was redecorated in a very rich Baroque style, of which very little is preserved due to the bombing in 1943. The church is impressive in its current simplicity, it has returned to the initial Gothic style. Entrance to the church is free, but entrance to the cloister and the museum is paid. The cloister is decorated with hand-painted ceramics with different scenes from everyday life. In the museum you can follow the reconstruction process after the bombing.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful cloister, fairly well kept. Full of colors and with a very relaxing atmosphere. The hand-decorated majolica and the cloister garden are the highlight of this beautiful visit in an afternoon walking around Naples. Nice and relaxing. (Original) Bellissimo chiostro, tenuto abbastanza bene. Pieno di colori e con un'atmosfera molto rilassante. Le maioliche decorate a mano ed il giardino del chiostro sono il fiore all'occhiello di questa bella visita in un pomeriggio a spasso per napoli. Bello e rilassante.

Extremely well-reconstructed, the Monastery complex is worth the visit. We started at the gardens, admiring the incredible patience and precision the architects observed to restore after such a heavy bombardment. Went on to watch the video recounting the history and process to get to what visitors can see today. Visited the excavation site in the premises to admire the incredible advancements they had back the days. Moved on to see (through a glass) the library. And finally strolled through the gardens and restored church. It was as if we were transported. Revived the pride with which it all was done and were able to witness, at least in part, the different styles used to keep this monument, a current/relevant one. Fun fact: one of the Monastery leaders decided back in the old days that it needed renovation, and that's how baroque style made it to this sanctuary. Definitely a top choice when visiting Naples.

There are a museum, a lush garden, a mini theatre, and a excavation site. The place is peaceful despite of being in the middle of the old town. Definitely worth checking out.

Such a beautiful place in the middle of the city, astonishing beauty. The bad point is the price, maybe too high while you can see many things for free that are objectively better

Entry is 6 euros for adults (4.5 for students under 30) and it's definitely worth the price. Walking through the tall collumns around the interior garden with the yellow and blue all around was simply amazing. Definitely a must see in Napoli. We saw it in the morning before our flight. I would have regretted not giving it a chance.

Impressive medieval church and cloisters with so much history. It houses the tomb of Robert of Anjou, one of the most important monarchs of XIV century as well as many nobles of that are and some late Bourbon kings. The cloister is amazing

Tip: as you queue, there is an electronic machine you can buy tickets on card. Many are queuing to pay in cash. Had a great time here, beautiful scenery, interesting exhibits. There is cheap cafe after, nice interior seating. Also local produce for sale.

This monastic complex of church, monastery, and tombs was built in 1340 by Queen Sancha of Majorca and her husband King Robert of Naples, whose tomb is directly behind the main altar. The structure was partially destroyed during the Allied bombings of W.W. II but restored in 1953. It is the largest church ever built for the Order of Saint Clare, ( The Poor Clares), founded by Saint Frances of Assisi in 1212. While not as grand or ornate as Gesu Nuovo, it is still impressive in its simplicity as the interior nave is 140 ft tall and 246 ft long.

Really nice city garden for a break from the busy roads & crowds. 6 Euro pp is slightly expensive for the size of the garden but worth it for a quiet break.

It was beautiful. The majolica is in great condition and the pillars are simply stunning. The small museum has plenty of information and holds the remaining pieces of the burned-down church.

The construction of the monumental complex of S.Claire began in 1310, by the will of King Robert of Anjou and his wife Sancha of Majorca. The Franciscan citadel was set up by erecting two convents: one for the Clarisses, and the other for Franciscan Friars Minor. The church is now in its original Gothic style, with a simple facade in which the ancient pierced rose window is nestled. In 1742 the church underwent changes by the hand of the architect D.A. Vaccaro. Pompous coatings gave the complex a baroque aspect. On August 4th of 1943 the church was almost completely destroyed by aerial bombardment. It was rebuilt and restored according to the original Gothic style. Ten years later the church was reopened for worshipers. Over the centuries, the cloister has undergone various transformations. The most important was performed by D.A. Vaccaro between 1739 and 1742. Vaccaro built two avenues which, intersecting, divide the area into four areas. Octagonal pillars line the perimeter, coated with majolica ceramic floral decorations. The pillars are connected by benches covered of tiles with popular, rural, maritime and mythological scenes. The four walls of the cloister were covered with seventeenth century frescoes depicting Saints, allegories and scenes of the Old Testament. Inside the complex you can see a nativity scene featuring shepherds of the eighteenth and the nineteenth century, the Museum in which it is possible to admire a cross-section of the Neapolitan history from antiquity to the twentieth century, some of the treasures the bombings of 1943 failed to destroy and an archeological area with remains of a Roman spa.

The monastery is very beautiful - all walls in the garden are with colorful frescos. It is not allowed to sit on the benches in order to preserve the tiles. There are orange trees and in general it is very nice to take a walk in the garden. Ticket costs 6 euro. We paid the entrance fee directly at the machines close to the cashier desk by card.

(Translated by Google) Destroyed on 4 August 1943 by Anglo-American bombs to track down the Nazis, it was rebuilt together with the adjacent basilica of the same name, bringing to light the Angevin Gothic style hidden over the centuries by Baroque renovations. The cloister with majolica depicting profane scenes, for a place of worship and cloister, is very beautiful and at the same time gives a feeling of so much space and serenity. A visit cannot be missed.

In addition, the complex is still inhabited and used by monks today, although there are greater limitations to see the church. A jewel of sacred art in Naples. This is probably the most aesthetic place in Naples and one of my favourites. It's perfect to spend the most warm hours of the day admiring the characteristics Maioliche and walking around the cloister. My boyfriend and I happened upon this church as we were walking by. We found out that we could walk inside of the church and it was BEAUTIFUL! I only rate it three stars because it isn't until now that I see there was a whole museum aspect to it as well! Had I known, I would have loved to look around. Regardless, it was beautiful, as historical churches are just another level of beauty to admire while abroad.

Was lovely to see the tiles & garden in the sunshine but we didn't spend much time there.

A beautiful and peaceful place, which offers an unique exhibition of Napoli's history! Recommend to go early in the morning, when there are little to no visitors, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet in the gardens, among orange trees and herbal patches, and beautifully decorated columns and murals.

Beautifully decorated church. The basilica can be visited free of charge.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Extremely beautiful Frescoes. Extraordinary tile works and pillars. Breathtaking.

I give one star so my vote has at least a meaning. You pay for a ticket to enter one of a few gardens in Naples. Supposed to be a quiet place. No. Instead your head is exploding of people cutting grass and machine cleaning floors. At 11:30! What is wrong with you people. Maintenance should be performed outside of visiting hours! This is just a cherry on top of dirty, smelly Naples with reckless driving. Feels like India, not like European country. I do not recommend it.

A very beautiful place within the heart of messy quarter of Naples. We took many Instagramable photos in the courtyard, the museum worths a visit as well, filled with the remains from the repairment works of the place. Don't miss their souvenir shop! The products there are very different from what is available in the city. Fair price with outstanding design!
