Very nice Cathedral in Napoli. We accidentally came across this place when we were trying to find a place to escape from the heat. You can enter for free. The alter was really beautiful and the dome was really nicely painted. I would recommend paying a visit if you are in Napoli.

The cathedral is located in a street close to Market Street. You will be treated to some wonderful frescoes, beautiful interiors and chapels. Chapel of San Gennaro is one of the attractions inside the cathedral. The church houses a vial of the blood of Saint Januarius, which is brought out three times a year, on the first Saturday in May, on 19 September and 16 December, when the dried blood usually liquefies

A massive cathedral that is hidden away in the city. You can feel the peace just stepping through the doors. Make sure to take off your hat and wash your hands as you step in side this piece of history. They still hold mass today. It's a treasure for sure.

Historic church and like most churches in Napoli it’s free to enter. However if you want to see more there is a small fee. They also have public bathrooms which was handy to know.

Gorgeous cathedral. The entry is free and they allow you to visit the underground hall and a few other halls filled with history and beautiful sculptures.

The most famous landmark of Naples. A must-see place. The church is so beautiful from outside, inside, ceiling, wall, and everything. You can literally spend all day looking at everything. The day we visited was a nice sunny day. The sunlight came through the well-designed high windows and covered one side of the church with golden light. It creates such peaceful and blessed atmosphere inside the church. Most items have signs described in English, some of them do not. You can use a translation app to help.

We visited Duomo di Napoli this past week. A beautiful cathedral with amazing architecture, statues and paintings. Stunning alters. Huge and a must see when visiting Naples. It is free to enter.

One of the best places to visit Naples. Firstly it's free entry, but in terms of the various churches in Naples, it has to be one of the grandest. When we visited it wasn't too busy either.

Creating harmony between different architectural styles is exemplified in the Naples Cathedral. For me, seeing this beautiful church was a fantastic experience. The building is a part of the city's artistic, cultural, and historical heritage. Well worth a visit.

For all the Cathedrals I've visited, this is by far one of the best. It is free entry, and so extravagant. Although I was told that you had to dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered) this wasn't respected here? No hats to be worn in the Cathedral, and masks are optional, but it is a wonderful place to get hit with the full force of Catholicism.

Nice cathedral close to the Main Street in Naples. Apart from the main part which is already impressive the side areas are also worth a visit. Don’t forget to walk all the way to the left end of the one on your left (upon entering) for a wonderful display (see attached pictures)

This is truly a sanctuary....having dodgeballed Napoli's poop infested streets, we took shelter in this cathedral for quite some time..absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.

The architecture of the cathedral is stunning, and the intricate details inside are breathtaking. It's a must-visit if you're in Naples. Loved exploring the history and beauty of this iconic landmark.

Wonderful Cathedral, history exuding, it is for enyone to visit this spendid architecture in the heart of Naples Historic centre. Busy roads populated by global tourists, narrow pavements but an excellent subway system to get to any place in the city.

Mostly baroque but in some parts you may see things from the 14th century. Special note for the St.Genaro crypt and the Baptisserium.

Amazing building! Mostly free entrance, but in some parts you have to pay (a small amount). Shoulders need to be covered, they offer capes for a small price (of your choice).

Some impressive, very early paeolo Christian ceiling mosaics and some frescoes. Then your usual enormous cathedral. Impressive collection of relics.

This cathedral is insane. I mean it puts other churches to shame. After seeing this one you are probably ruined for most of the churches in Naples because it is so beautiful. I can understand why people saw this back in the time and were believers.

Stunning cathedral (namely all the paintings in the ceilings). It feels holly and charming and most of it is free. Worth seeing the cript which is just one flight of stairs down

It is a very impressive cathedral in the heart of Naples. If you like to visit cathedrals, this place is one of the best in Naples. If you are traveling for tourism purposes, they also have a tourist guide service if you would like to benefit from. Highly recommended place to see and experience.

An extraordinary holy place. It felt sacred to me as I sat silenty in awe of how it all felt to be there. I'm so glad I stepped in to look. One of my favorite finds, strolling around the city. Free to enter.

We've visited quite many churches and cathedrals in Italy and they are all impressive, even these in small villages. We were disappointed to find out that the Cathedral in Naples was not well preserved, with faded colours and damp smell. The entrance is free of charge.

A stunning cathedral in Rione Sanità. Whilst you are waiting for your tour in the Catacombs, you can happily fill your time here

Really unique church with rich history. Just please be mindful when visiting. I'm not religious but I can respect that this is a religious site and adhere to the rules while still enjoying the space.

The church is important for all the relics that hold but let me tell you that before going in, all is dirty and non maintenance is done for such a place; city super dirty, arriving to the church homeless sleeping around, smelling of urine, kid with motorcycle playing in front of the church( the police do not give A F), inside dirty again (come on! not need too much to matein and give a good presentation) to such important church, vice air inside and so on. Any way is tuned with the city dirty everywhere and nobody gives A F ! What a pity shame on you napolitanos..

Very nice cathedral to visit. Beautiful wall paintings and a very nice ceiling! Most beautiful part was the dome, it holds 2 layers and you can look outside. Don't forget to go in the crypt, nice to see. Only downside are the rovers outside the cathedral, not really friendly to watch.....

Amazing renaissance architecture with manneristic elements. Cathedral is not only for prayers, it has also museum, information and education center, treasury, library and amator choir.

One of the best places to visit in Naples. Essential. I recommend to visit while there’s natural light because the lighting in the city is not too good. Also you’ll find the crypt of Saint Genaro open which is a must see as well. All for free.

One of the biggest and most important church in Naples. We also saw the miracle with blood of San Gennaro. You should take a walk here, in a some-day visit in Naples.

When you are in Il Duomo you have to visit Capella Di San Gennaro with Story about him and his blood and Basilica Di S. Restituta, extra paying but it worth for it

  • 5/5 Bjorn 1 year ago on Google
We are not particularly enthusiastic about churches or cathedrals but this one is probably the nicest we have seen! Lot of impressive work inside! And they don’t even charge income!
