Piazza del Plebiscito, formerly known as Largo di Palazzo, is a beautiful large square in Napoli, with an area of about 25,000 square meters, bordered at one end by the Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) and at the other by the Basilica San Paolo..

Located in downtown, but still there is chance to find parking spot. They are close in the afternoon which was strange. People were nice and welcome to travelers. In terms of traffic, it’s not comparable with other places in whole Italy, very cozy. A few minutes’ walk to Galleria Umberto and Castle Nuovo. Around is a bit unorganized but you would enjoy the whole things. Anyway, couldn’t get in, but like the area.

I liked its geometrically symmetric structure and the open place. The two statues are also nice.

Piazza del Plebiscito is one of the most beautiful squares in Naples, Italy. Comparing with other places from Naples, this "Piazza" is almost without trash. Amazing architecture. A must see in Naples.

Probably one of the best square in Europe. It shows all the magnificent buildings which were built when Naples was capital of kingdom of two Sicilies. They usually organised concerts, show and entertainments. The square itself is oval and on one side lands the royal palace with all the figure statues of the major individuals whom ruled the kingdom of Naples (subsidiary of Spanish Borbon royal family). You can see Charles of Angevins, Frederic the second from Swabia, Joachim Murat. At the center of the square the two major kings: Ferdinand the first of two sicilies and Victor Emmanuel of savoy. It definitely deserves a visit.

Piazza del Plebiscito is a stunning public square located in the heart of Naples, Italy. The grandeur of its architecture, including the Royal Palace and the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, is awe-inspiring. The sheer size of the square, combined with its rich history, make it a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Naples. The atmosphere here is vibrant and lively, with street performers and vendors adding to the overall experience. It's a great place to relax, people-watch, and soak up the local culture. Overall, Piazza del Plebiscito is a true gem of Naples that shouldn't be missed.Really big and nice square to just sit, relax and people watch. There are plenty of eateries and cafes close by as well if you crave a drink or a snack.

One of the large open spaces and if all of Naples looked as clean as this, it would be a much nicer city. This piazza is massive and beautiful. With the Royal Palace on one side and the church of San Francesco di Paola in the center, this is a beautiful spot. Not much going on today - it's late January - but there are usually events and festivals here in the warmer months.

This place is a masterpiece but it’s kinda dirty outside.I was heartbroken when I saw that. It’s a place needs to be cleaned every week at lest in my opinion. Inside of cathedral is another world. Everything inside has a deferent value and beauty. I really hope that people who responsible for this place clean that place.

One of the best piazza in Naples! Go there and spend sometime walking in the big square, admire the columns and the architecture of this beautiful place. We had luck on finding people singing with a mic, it was creating a nice atmosphere. Nearby there is a great old cafe, have a look at it and go inside if you like!

Definitely worth the view if you are in Napoli. On the way to the Coast, this place offers a great view of the palace and lavish buildings surrounding the whole square. Beautiful!

Such beautiful structure! There was an event happening at the same time when visiting but the place itself is very vibrant and good pizza spots.

Named after the plebiscite taken on October 21, 1860, that brought Naples into the unified Kingdom of Italy under the House of Savoy,[citation needed] the piazza is very close to the gulf of Naples and bounded by the Royal Palace (east) and the church of San Francesco di Paola (west) with its hallmark twin colonnades extending to each side. Other noted adjacent buildings include the Palazzo Salerno and, its mirror, the Prefecture Palace (on the left arm of the church). In the first years of the 19th century, the King of Naples, Murat (Napoleon's brother-in-law), planned the square and building as a tribute to the emperor. Soon after Napoleon was finally dispatched to St Helena, the Bourbons were restored to the throne, and Ferdinand I continued the construction but converted the finished product into the church one sees today. He dedicated it to Saint Francis of Paola, who had stayed in a monastery on this site in the 15th century. The church is reminiscent of the Pantheon in Rome. The façade is fronted by a portico resting on six columns and two Ionic pillars. Inside, the church is circular with two side chapels. The dome is 53 metres high.

It’s a iconic place in Napoli so you should visit it. But it’s so dirty, every single structure looks dark because they don’t care about it. There’s also some places close to the Basilica with a strong smell.

Very cheerful on a Sunday evening. Local peoples just walking around, shopping and looking around. Lots of shops and cafes, restaurants and fast food in the surrounding streets. And a nice walk to the sea from the square. But there is dirt and homeless people everywhere too.

It is a place with a lot of potential but unfortunately is in a terrible state with many homeless, feels unsafe and very dirty. Government should make investments to bring this place back to its glory.

This should be one of the stops of any tourist visiting Napoli. It is also great that cars are being kept off the plaza.

Its a good city center but the shops and streets around this monument is awesome. So dont forget to roam around this monument and see the streets and their food.

It was a nice place, especially if you like wide open places like me. Not as crowded as other tourist places, atleast in summer. Would be perfect to come with friends on the evening with a small speaker (make sure not to disturb others) and chill with some beers. Also I'm not talking about inside i haven't been inside.

An interesting place that very famous also full with chaos. From the bus station, you will need to take a elevator to reach the palace. People are chilling, some boys are playing football, lots of polices. Not so clean, but I suppose this is the result of being so many tourists.

Amazing stupendous impressive Piazza! And who knew there was a fantastic Pantheon inspired church too! The Palazzo Reale is fabulous too. Just a shame about the graffiti on the church walls.

An amazing open space in the heart of Napoli. You can gazed upon the ionic pillars of the Basilica Saint Francesco di Paola. Across the square, the royal Palace stretches its warm facade for beholders. Make sure to visit occasional exhibitions there!

A classic huge plaza in the heart if Napoli, it has a great history to it. It’s the biggest square in Naples with its size of 25 000 m². It gots filled up really fast, if there is an event around. Makes this a special and lively piazza. As the sea is very close by, you can feel the sea breeze and fresh air. Well worth to visit and to take nice pictures on the square and around as well.

Whether you're religious or not if you're a history buff definitely visit. It's amazing how well they could create things without modern machinery. The paintings and art are out of this world, and are more amazing in person than what you see in books and online.

    huge square with historic architecture

  • 3/5 Paul 1 year ago on Google
This place has great potential but it's ruined by the emptiness and especially by the graffiti and the dirt towards the basilica. When it's not empty it's full of taxis that make it look even worse. Some statues or some small foliage or at least good maintenance would make this place better.

A good meeting point for the city. It seems slightly like a fake Vatican square. Also, It sometimes can be boring at the weekdays.

Enormous quare situated between the city and the Mediterranean Sea. A peaceful public space in contrast to the hussle and bustle of the city of Napoli. The photo shows part of the piazza set up for a musical event.

Above all of the places in Napoles it is probably the prettiest one. You can tell that ut is not finished. Nevertheless it is worth the trouble of going to visit it. I advise you to bring comfortable shoes and brung a lot of water with you because it is a long walk.

  • 3/5 Vekr0w 1 year ago on Google
Very cool place, however there are some very annoying people that come when you sit on the stairs and start trying agressively to sell you souveniers. When you try to say no, they get very angry...
