Ruocco Salumeria is a hidden gem that we were lucky enough to discover on the first day of our trip. At first it seems like an unassuming shop on corso Umberto, but once you step inside, you enter a magical little salumeria with the most welcoming atmosphere. Best aperitivo experience in Naples. Best place to buy artisanal products to take home at very reasonable prices. Fantastic wine, limoncello, artisanal beers, top quality cheeses & salumi, and tasty sandwiches made to order! 🥖 🧀🍷🍾 Perhaps the best part of this spot is the owner himself, who will greet you with a friendly smile. Alessandro, the owner, is one of the most attentive, kindest people you could meet. We got into conversation and asked him about wine recommendations, to which he gladly let us taste a few before deciding. He is extremely knowledgeable about wines, telling us about different varietals and fermentation styles. The local wines he sells come straight from wineries in Campania, many of which he knows personally so he can offer a deeper insight to the quality of the wine. After our first experience we have continued to go back during our stay in Naples, always being greeted by Alessandro’s smiling face and eagerness to chat and serve up some amazing food and wine. His pairings include not only cheese, salumi, and wine, but the details about each item, how it was made, where it comes from, and the history to accompany it. He even gave us suggestions about where to go in and what to do in Naples! I truly could not recommend Salumeria Ruocco enough. Alessandro goes above and beyond, which is evident by how frequently people passing by pop their head in just to say hello. He truly made us, and everyone else that comes in the shop feel at home, and has easily become our dear friend. You would not regret spending an evening here to have a few glasses of wine, learn some history and culture, and bring home some amazing salumi and cheeses. Thank you, Alessandro 🫶🏻

We came here because we read all the great reviews about the owner. They are completely true - he is absolutely amazing, so welcoming and nice. We paid roughly 30 euros for this meal in two (with wine, cheese, meats, and salad), which I think is really reasonable for this authentic and tasty experience!

Salumeria Ruocco is one of the spots I’d researched before visiting. I was extremely looking forward to sourcing some local produce and having a rustic Italian dinner with just some bread, prosciutto, salumi, mozzarella and some wine. By all means, I am not well-versed in all the dairy and meat varieties Italy has to offer, so I was going to go for a 500-gram mix of any of the produce they would recommend. Lucky for me and my friends, Alessandro Ruocco, the owner of the salumeria, met and greeted it us by the counter, behind the refrigerated display. “Can we have 400 grams of some parmigiano and mozzarella, maybe a mix of your cheeses?” He kindly reassured me with a single gesture to leave it up to him and started working. To watch Alessandro at work is a joy in itself. He will take his sweet time and fully immerse himself in the process, coming up with ideas as he goes. He is in no hurry and does not flinch when suddenly the store is filled with five people and it looks like someone can lose his temper. They never do, they are all acquainted with Alessandro. He will also give you a bite to taste almost whichever cheese or salumi he is cutting at the moment, so you can feel included in the process and understand what you are being served. I am also happy to say he was extremely helpful in our selection of wine and recommended some of the local Italian brands and even gave us a lesson of the regions and the different grapes they cultivate. I told him I am a big fan of the Jumila Monastrell and he advised me on what would be the closest to the Italian equivalent of the variant. Alessandro, you are a class act. Thank you!

I was so happy that I read about all others' review when looking for a wine shop in Naples, Italy. I stopped by at Salumeria Ruocco today for some good wine to take back to the U.S, WOW, what a pleasant visit it was! The owner was so passionate, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! He took the time to explain the different region / types of the wine, and the differences between the grapes they were made from. I can tell he is happy when he makes his customers happy! Thanks again, grazie!

Wine, salami and cheeses, jams and pasta and sweets and Alessandro, the kind, generous, thoughtful owner. He carries a superb wine selection as well as sweets and pasta, and his deli counter is chockfull of salami and other meats along with cheeses. A wonderful place to stop.

Such a wonderful place! Great wine, great cheese and great salumi! We had a great time at Salumeria Ruocco! Alessandro is such a nice and warm-hearted person and every product that he offers in his Salumeria has it's own story! If you drop by by any chance you need to stop at this place! Thank you for everything, Alessandro!

Stopped by this wine shop when we trekked to Naples for the famous L’Antica down the street. There were no other bars in the area, so we stumbled on this place and glad we did. The owner was so cute! I asked for cheese with two glasses of wine and he set up a whole platter with meats and olives! 5 stars for the service and the pleasant experience we had here in comparison to all other places in the surrounding area. Had two wines and a platter and the whole thing was €8. We were surprised by how cheap it was and loved our experience more because of it.

A True GEM in Napoli. A century old business under the Alessandro family. The passion in sharing with us on the local wines and patient in educating us was priceless. Alessandro is so humble and always putting on a big smile. If you are in Napoli, drop by and say hello and of course, try the local wines. ^__^

I had a great conversation with the owners about wine. I speak Italian so language wasn't an issue (they will speak school Italian at a slower pace for obvious foreigners) though I think we would have muddled through in English given how friendly and knowledgable they are. We ended up buying two local wines. Have already opened the first and it matches exactly what I was asking for. Also tried their cheeses and got a local gorgonzola that is unusual and nice.

Alessandro is a great host and he is also cooking delicious sandwiches. Despite language barrier he helped to choose fine wines, cheese and meats. Another thing is the prices, for center of the city his prices are surprisingly low. Definetly worth checking out if you visit Napoli.

Our trip would not have been complete without the discovery and multiple visits to Salumeria Ruocco. Growing up near Napa Valley, I was extremely excited to dive into the world of Italian wines, but was a bit overwhelmed on where to start. Thank goodness we met Mr. Ruocco, who provided numerous, delightful recommendations for both food and wine. We enjoyed the first set of recommendations so much, we returned a second time (we were only in town for 4 days!), where we were met with excitement and appreciation. Mr. Ruocco once again took care of us by providing wonderful recommendations to try and enjoy. I look forward to returning to Naples merely to visit Salumeria Ruocco. Until next time!

We were visiting Naples and wanted to bring back a bottle of wine as a gift for a friend. Alessandro was so helpful with recommending an excellent and very reasonably priced wine. He also recommended some tasty sausages and cheeses which we later enjoyed for lunch. He took the time to carefully prepare and wrap everything up for us, including the bottles of wine. (Yes, we bought one for ourselves.) This knowledgeable man is also very gracious. He told us that his shop was like his home and wanted us to feel welcomed. We highly recommend you stop by and visit his well stocked shop and meet this truly kind man.

Great place for wine, cheese and salami, also for friend talk. The wine there is great and Alessandro is a wonderful host who really knows a lot about the local products. We spent our evening there and didn't want to leave.

Me and my friend were visiting Naples and found his shop by accident. Ruocco was having a chat with an Israeli couple but we were standing there patiently waiting for our turn to ask him for a recommendation for the night's wine. After a few minutes we were invited to taste 3 types of Ruocco's cheese. Then as expected we chose a nice bottle of local red wine (and a piece of cheese of course) then we chatted some more about a Hungarian couple who had brought him some souvenirs (alcoholic drinks >30%) although the shop was meant to be closed 10 minutes ago by then.

Absolutely fantastic wine store! We were looking for a bottle of wine and the owner of the store patiently went through the different kinds of wines in Italy before helping us pick out a bottle. There is an extremely wide variety of wines so we really appreciated the help. A hidden gem!

I cannot stop thinking about everything Salumeria Ruocco. It's been more than a month and I am still dreaming. I was only in Napoli for 2 short days and found this little gem by accident because I wanted to buy some water. I was invigorated by the warm Neapolitan hospitality from Alessandro and his friends who happened to be there for the next hour! We could not stop talking about food and wine and I walked out with the best prosciutto I've had in the longest time (and I've had plenty trust me - I am obsessed) along with 2 beautiful regional wine bottles and some savory brioche. I went back the next day to take whatever I can with me.. More Prosciutto for the road and 6 more bottles of wine with his expert recommendation - not enough.. I only have one bottle of wine left and I am gutted that I am 10,000KM away. Grazie mille Allessandro & Friends. You will continue to prosper with the company of wonderful friends from all over the world with your warmth and passion for all things tasty. I will definitely be back to Napoli, and you my friend, Salumeria Ruocco will be on top of the list of reasons why.

I knew (by looking into some reviews) that I wanted to stop by Mr Ruocco place. My wife was pregnant so we couldn’t go for a full meal and wine but I ended up going Monday morning before catching my flight. All the joy and passion that has been described was passed on in that 20 min I was there buying some cheese and charcuterie before flying out. Such a nice place. Next time I’m staying some time to enjoy it longer!

Ruocco is extremely friendly and goes beyond his way to help, despite the language barriers. He has a small but very cozy shop, where you can safely explore and buy Italian wines and liquor as well as food for a quick bite or lunch.

Alessandro is a delight, as his shop. Perhaps the nicest, kindest shopkeeper in Italy? Certainly in Naples. Oh, and his wine selection is excellent and affordable, of course, as is the cheese section. But what we will remember most is his engaging smile and his warm and welcoming personality that we enjoyed every day during our stay in the building next door. Ciao, Alessandro!

Amazingly nice owner! He tried very hard to communicate in English, full of energy explaining to us which wine would be best suitable for our needs. I bought three bottles of wine named "Bosco de' medici Lavarubra", from the region, its taste is so elegant just as he described. If you want to find good wine at a reasonable price, you must go to this place!

10/10, must visit place! I may only recommend the Salumeria Ruocco. The owner is super kind and is willing to help with your choice - best mix of cheese and meat ("to try, a bit of this and that" as it was mentioned - even local products :)) and suggested wine goes perfect together. Grazie mille! Pozdrowienia z Polski!

What an exceptional experience! The owner Alessandro is an amazingly kind and delightful human who evidently takes great joy in educating and recommending you truly delicious local wine and then pairs it with equally tasty cured meats and cheeses. I can't say better things about this store, go check it out!

Whether you walk in to buy a bottle of wine or some cheese, or decide to enjoy a great selection of cheeses and cold cuts paired with a lovely bottle of wine! You will be enchanted by his wine, cheese and meat knowledge! A fun educational evening without the preaching! A must try

We had three days in Napoli and went three times - thank goodness we found it on day one! Alessandro and everyone in there made us feel so welcome, had a lot of tips on what wines to bring home and try and always had a delicious snack to go with it too. What a wonderful little gem, we will definitely be back!

So glad we discovered this historic wine/bar shop. Alessandro is very welcoming and really listens to what you are looking for. He is passionate and knows every single bottle in his shop. We bought 6 bottles and he bubble wrapped tbem and they made it safely back to the states. He is very kind and wish we were close so we could stop by and chat with him. He is delightful and kind. He excitedly looks for what you are looking for and explains them to you patiently. Nice to see the love and how he misses his dear father.

This place is amazing!!!!! Alessandro the owner is the warmest, nicest person you could ever imagine. We had a couple of great wine glasses with him while observing the hectic street. While he explained with pride about the history of the store as well as memories from his father and grandfather (who ran the shop before him). One of our more humble yet most memorable moments during a whole 12 day trip around Italy. Enjoy the food and wine!!!
