We
went
on
a
chilly,
rainy
day
and
had
an
excellent
time.
Saw
hundreds
of
monkeys,
many
extremely
closely
as
they
will
run
up
next
to
you.
When
you
get
to
the
end
of
the
paved
road,
you
will
have
to
walk
about
1.6km
to
the
monkey
park
entrance
building.
This
walk
is
beautiful,
fairly
easy
though
with
some
elevation
gain,
and
on
a
mostly
dirt
path.
There
was
a
little
bit
of
mud
so
I
recommend
bringing
shoes
that
can
get
a
bit
dirty.
After
the
long
walk,
you
can
buy
your
tickets
to
see
the
monkeys.
From
there,
it
is
a
short
5
minute
walk
to
the
monkey
onsen.
There
were
a
decent
number
of
people
at
the
pool,
but
it
was
not
overly
crowded.
We
saw
hundreds
of
monkeys.
A
decent
number
were
in
the
water
itself,
but
many
more
were
on
the
rocky
slopes
all
around
it.
They
often
fought
and
had
little
skirmishes.
Many
of
them
were
mothers
holding
small
babies
which
were
super
cute.
Around
1:30pm,
one
of
the
workers
blew
a
whistle
and
started
feeding
them
(barley
I
think).
That
was
pretty
fun
to
watch
since
they
all
gathered
closely
to
us.
The
worker
also
pointed
out
the
boss
monkey
of
the
whole
group.
We
went
in
late
October,
and
the
weather
up
near
the
park
was
notably
colder
and
windier
than
in
town,
so
dress
accordingly.
Make
sure
to
check
the
webcam
of
the
monkeys
online
before
making
the
walk.
They
are
not
there
every
day.
It's
a
great
experience
if
you
do
get
to
see
them,
highly
recommend!
