I
went
on
the
Dalai
Lama
trek
in
early
December
of
2023
with
a
few
friends
I
was
here
volunteering
with.
The
Dalai
Lama
trek
is
a
6
day
7
night
trek,
and
hits
some
of
the
big
trekking
locations
in
this
area,
including
Kareri
Lake,
Truind
and
Snowline.
I
spend
a
lot
of
time
in
the
bush
camping
and
hiking
in
Australia,
but
the
terrain
in
Australia
is
far
different
to
the
Himalayas
and
thus
we
were
all
somewhat
underprepared
in
regard
to
being
“pack
fit”
etc.
Despite
this,
our
guide
Arjun
was
fantastic
with
us,
being
very
patient
and
supportive.
We
also
faced
a
few
challenges
along
the
way,
including
a
little
bit
of
mild
altitude
sickness
and
also
illness
amongst
our
group
making
it
rather
challenging
for
those
in
the
group
struggling
to
continue
hiking.
In
these
instances
especially
Arjun
was
extremely
encouraging
and
supportive,
going
as
far
as
swapping
bags
with
us
as
his
bag
was
lighter
or
even
carrying
both
his
and
our
bags
when
we
really
needed
it.
The
food
was
great,
especially
the
breakfast
which
consisted
of
fresh
fruits,
porridge,
juice
and
sometimes
even
parathas
and
other
delicious
things.
I
won’t
deny
that
the
trek
had
its
challenges,
but
it
was
an
amazing,
once
in
a
lifetime
experience
that
I
would
recommend
to
anyone.
