The holiest shrine of lord Shiva at Pamban Island, Tamil Nadu India. Temple was initially built by Lord Rama to worship Shiva for victory against Ravana. Later contributed by many rulers of India including king from Jaffna Shree lanka. There were many sacred bathing spots called Teertham. Main was Agni Teertham at Bay of Bengal. You should take a holy dip in Agni Teertham & go to other Teertham to take bath located within the compound of the main temple. After completing your bath & changing your clothes at government provided lockers; you should enter the main temple. A lot of Pandas & guides offer thier services but just keep quite & do it yourself, they have many ideas & ways to cheat you without you realizing.. A beautiful & holiest site that all Hindus should visit.

Great temple of lord Shiva. We went on Friday evening. Really not much people, it's strong less than 100 maybe. First we had bath at Agni theertham and went to North gate for 22 theerthams. Gave ₹150/person for theertham. After that there's dress changing rooms for male and female separately. They don't allow people with wet clothes for dharshan. We peacefully went for dharshan because of less crowd during weekdays.

This is one of the sacred temples for Hindus and is among Jyotirling. The structure itself is jaw-dropping. One has to see to believe what our ancestors achieved centuries ago without much technology and science. Apart from structure, you feel sea of positive vibes as soon as you enter. There are 1000s of devotees anytime offering prayers with selfless believe. This is true beauty of our culture. People from all section of society just having a belief in lord Shiva and they know they are being taken care by higher power. Unreal and majestic is this temple. I wish to come again someday in my life .

Ramanathaswamy temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India. Rama established the lingam and worshipped before going to lanka for Sita. There is free Darshan and rs.25 ticket and rs. 150 ticket. 150 ticket is where you can see lingam from 5 feet distance. No phones allowed inside temple. There is a locker facility outside temple where we can keep our belongings. Normal days There is no rush.

Ramanathaswamy Temple (Rāmanātasvāmi Kōyil) is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located on Rameswaram island in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where three of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar and Tirugnana Sambandar, have glorified the temple with their songs. The temple was expanded during the 12th century by the Pandya Dynasty, and its principal shrine’s sanctum was renovated by Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and his successor Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan, monarchs of the Jaffna kingdom. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India. It was built by King Muthuramalinga Sethupathiy. The temple, located in Rameswaram, is considered a holy pilgrimage site for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smarthas. Mythological accounts depict the presiding deity, the Lingam of Ramanathaswamy (Shiva), as having been established and worshiped by Rama, before he crossed his bridge to the present-day island of Sri Lanka. It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
