Dropped in for dinner from a recommendation to try the”crack wings” or the salt & pepper wings and they were too good with the chili oil. They paired perfectly when washed down with an ice cold Sapporo. This was my first time to San Diego and really enjoyed this establishment. Will definitely be back for more!

Service was great. You get a lot of food on the entrees. They're known for the salt and pepper chicken wings, and house noodles which never disappoint. All other foods were okay, but I'll just be returning for the wings and noodles only.

Back in SoCal, gotta make a stop at RM. we had to hold ourselves back and only get 2 of our favorite dishes: Salt & Pepper calamari with Kung pao chicken (+vinegar). Always nice to see the friendly staff. 80% the same since 1992!

One of the best places for some salt and pepper wings! Always come here for that. The other food is also really good but this is my go to here.

The service here isn’t the best but I don’t care because I only come here for the wings. Seriously. You will not be greeted with a friendly hello. Just what do you want? And you want the salt and pepper wings. Lots of them. I get them to go most of the time. They are hot and crispy and fried to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. But do not get the lumpia. It was so old tasting, soggy and gross. So the star rating is for the lumpia. But the wings are easily 5 stars.

Mongolian beef was terrible, should have been called Mongolian onions! The meat was chewy and tasted more like fat. The picture is all the onions we took out of the Mongolian beef just to get to the beef at the bottom. Salt and pepper chicken wings were great! Everything else was okay...

Delicious salt and pepper chicken wings and noodles. The wings are unbelievably crispy and crunchy - video for evidence! They have set meals available too, we got Dinner A for $53 - which consists of the salt and pepper wings; beef and broccoli; fried noodles with beef, chicken, and shrimp, and fried rice - supposedly good for three, but you be the judge. The service is wonderful too. Pro-tip: ask for the chili oil if it's not on the table.

Salt and Pepper wings ain't nothing to play with. They're juicy and tasty on every bite. Some might say bit too dry and overcooked, but it hits the spot. Definitely need a drink or two if you're going deep on them wings. Service was fast too, less than 30 seconds, from paying to receiving the wings. 12 wings for about $16ish Definitely worth it.

Ive been coming here for years. My favorite dish is the salt n pepper wings, fish or shrimp. Perfect for superbowl or catering events. Just make sure and remind them to give you rice on to go orders they always seems to forget. Other than that all their food selections are good and they serve you pretty fast. Most dished under $15 bucks

Food is great, servers and staff are friendly and accommodating. Some staff are more kind than others with helping train kids at registers. Go there at off peak hours and they will more than graciously, patiently wait if they are learning how to pay.

Love the salt and pepper wings. Got the party platter 110 pieces for $135. Drove a hour just for these wings.

Horrible the lady spent her time attending other guest and left us alone, until when we wanted to go where we asked her for a box, and they rushed us during our food

Family came from Arizona were so looking forward to good food, our usual place was closed. Salt and pepper wings were only thing we liked:(. Salt and pepper shrimp was so salty we couldn't eat, my son was looking forward to BBQ pork:( it was so fatty and tasted like koolaid. Even the rice was a big disappointment , I've never seen BBQ pork like one in rice:(. I won't be eating there again.

I love the salt & pepper chicken wings here. Mongolian beef and fried rice are also very good. Service is very good and staff is friendly. Royal Mandarin was recommended to me when my favorite Chinese restaurant closed. I have never ordered from anywhere else since I had the chicken wings

Good amount of food, tasty. Price is right I thought. Loved the egg drop soup. I had the salt and pepper shrimp combination. No one left empty handed. Lots of leftovers

Fast service, no wait even on Father's Day. Everyone was getting the salt and pepper chicken. Food is decent. I didn't like the egg foo young (needed salt). The other items were good and large sharing portion sizes. Employees were fast at refilling drinks

What an incredible staple in the National City area. And you'll get in and out, in lighting speed, as the kitchen and service is insanely fast. Royal Mandarin Restaurant continues to deliver time and time again with their affordable, delicious and comfort food. You can't go wrong with the Fried Chicken Wings & Chow Mein. Can't decide? Order a combination plate. Is it the best Chinese food out there? God no. Is it a solid restaurant with decent authentic Chinese food - especially in San Diego? Yes. Is it a community favorite? Absolutely. Is the food consistent? Not always. I wish. Is this place clean? Debatable and questionable. Regardless of when you visit Royal Mandarin Restaurant, you'll find countless locals and hungry Yelpers dining and/or grabbing take out at this community favorite. Overall, I would recommend the Royal Mandarin Restaurant! It definitely fits the bill of the usual 'hole in the wall' craving and Chinese spot.

Woke up craving some salt &pepper chicken I ordered 2 orders, once I arrived there was on 1 order in my bag (later I would be thankful) once I got home ready to eat I looked at the chicken it’s like a orange color instead of golden brown!! And taste horrible this is not the same chicken I ate from this place last week the lack consistency mixed with the not so friendly customer service sadly after years of coming I’ve reached the point where I can no longer give this business my hard earned dollar the chicken use to be undeniably good the quality for sure has gone down the drain

One of my favorites and go to places in San Diego. Hands down the best salt and pepper chicken wings in town. The food is always good and they have you in and out in no time. I went last week on my lunch break and was given excellent service and food was fresh and hot. I highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it. You will not be disappointed and will definitely return often.

Great food, fantastic pricing. Don't let the strip mall setting deter you. Co-workers love this place and now I know why. They can accommodate large groups with friendly service. Take out orders large (for an office party or potluck) and small (for self or family) are delicious options to keep in mind. Definitely going back!
