Excellent place to stay for military families. It was only a 15-minute drive to downtown and Coronado. Plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. We had no issues with noise and slept well. Free parking!

Wow! It looks newly renovated, everything is beautiful. It's very large, almost 500 rooms. I'm in room 420 with a balcony- it's a bit of a walk to get to the room but the room is spacious and spotless. I brought my pillows j.i.c. but this bed and it's pillows were perfect so I didn't need them. The air is great, you can either set the thermostat or just turn it on. There is a small gym, the pool and spa are open. No continental breakfast but there are a ton of restaurants just right around the corner, one even right outside the front door. The whole place smells great too. This will be my regular hotel from now on.

Very nice, clean and affordable hotel for a family. We were able to get a room big enough for a family of five. Great beds and not too far from restaurants and shopping. Smells good when you walk in and amazing service from the staff.

Seems newer or remodeled. Our double queen room was well cleaned and smelled fresh. Plenty of towels. Air conditioning was relatively quiet and cooled our room quickly. Be aware that the hotel is pet friendly, so you may hear the occasional bark(ing). No breakfast service, but there is a restaurant next door on the same property (no discount for hotel guests). Conveniently located to the 5 North & South on-ramps. Ample parking during our visit in mid July. Bottom line, would definitely stay here again.

Only 15 minutes from Zoo and free parking!!! It’s a great price point as well. Nice and clean, full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Only reason I gave 4 stars is absolutely no breakfast of any kind and no room service when had had gotten back from zoo. Friendly service, would stay again.

Nice place to stay while in San Diego. Economically good place to stay if you’re military or have family coming to visit. It’s near by the military base, not terribly priced, and does not provide continental breakfast. Only about a 20min drive to Balboa park, downtown, and more. They have a service van available to drive guests to the trolley station or food area near by. The hotel is cleaned constantly, they have a friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere. There is a pool, laundry room, fireplace, and gym available. The gym is small, they have limited weights, a cable machine, two treadmills and an elliptical. Despite the small space I never had a problem working out. It could get crowded with more than three people in there but I never ran into anyone while I worked out. They also have a filtered water station and tea/coffee station located on the first floor. Their beds are very comfortable, pillows are really soft, and our room had a mini fridge and coffee station. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear some of the road noise from the highway in the room but overall had a great stay while we were here.

This hotel and property were nice and very warm and inviting feeling. We’d stay again. All the staff was so friendly and genuine, we loved that! The rooms were clean and our king bed was comfortable! Only cons were there is no breakfast and our floor did reek of weed the first night, which was off-putting as the lobby smelt amazing. It also was a little south of SD. We thought it might be a little closer but we aren’t from there so didn’t know. Not far at all just not right by it.

The front of the hotel is inviting. The lobby is bright, beautiful and clean. The area right outside the lobby, by the pool is a nice area to sit and have coffee or eat a meal. The Fitness center is small but has the necessary machines for a quick workout. I didn't use them, but the business center has computers that were being used. The rooms were clean and had a fridge and microwave, which I appreciate. Our room was on the west side of the building facing the train tracks. Occasionally, there was noise from the train, but not very often. The window slides open so there was no need for the a/c with the ocean breeze. The Wi-Fi was nice and fast. The only thing I was missing was the free breakfast I usually get from other BW locations. But there is a restaurant right next to the hotel and plenty of other food places just a 3 minutes drive away. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a wedding. There is limited parking spaces. It gets filled up very quickly if you come back too late. There is no soundproof wall so I can hear children laughing and whining throughout the night. The front desk doesn't have any snacks or medical emergency items for sale which forces you to go out and look for a close by Walgreens to get it yourself. The room I stayed in sink smelled so bad and the ventilation in the bathroom barely ventilated any smell.

The front desk at this place is awful. I tried to check at 2am and got turned away due to technical difficulties. Not a big deal, but Nancy held my ID by mistake. (Which prevented me from booking at another hotel. I slept in my car.) when I was 30 miles away, I figure this out and give the front desk a call. She did not apologize or care at all. Now today, they won't check me in because I have a card with $136 and another with $100. But the room costs $150 and they won't split the payment onto 2 cards. Will they take any cash? No way. Absolutely trash service.

The hotel serves its purpose and has helpful, friendly staff. There is ice and vending machines on every floor, a heated pool and jacuzzi, and gym. The rooms are average size and have a small mini fridge with a microwave. There is some sort of historic trolley waiting area at the rear of the hotel which is neat. Things to improve are: 🟠 Public areas of hotel were warm and humid, while the check in area was perfectly cool. 🟠 Add a small kitchen with room service for guests. 🟠 Allow guest to charge the room for food ordered at the close by Kimball restaurant. 🟠 Include normal remotes with the smart TVs in the room, so guests can cast their screen to it. Can only use the HDMI and USB currently. 🟠 Use a more secure protocol for the public Wi-Fi. 🟠 Add more wheelchair friendly ramps to the parking lot. There is only one at the front currently.

Most of these reviews are paid for, heed my warning. All of the rooms are absolutely filthy, they lack cleanliness and maintenance. My room door has to be pryed open to get out. The bathroom is gross, the vent is filled with dust, the tub is lined with stains, and the floor has not been cleaned since (atleast) the last guest. My brother woke up to find a centipede on his pillow.

I was very pleased with Annie (front desk). The Hotel was very nice! The Lobby was relaxing. The room was pretty good and pretty clean. I appreciated the rush. I stayed 3nights. The room was cleaned 1 time. I really needed just the trash and vacuum those days. They accommodated me with extra towels and sheets. The young house man was very polite and helpful. Thank you. I give Marina Bay 5stars!!! I will be back. Thank you Annie for making my family and I feel welcome and going above to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

My favorite hotel in the area. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and efficient. Cecilia, the lady who checked me out, ensured that I got my Best Western ID registered so I would get the points. The room was spacious, clean, elegant and comfortable. I slept very well. The lobby is lovely, and there is a hot drink station with quite an assortment of drinks available. The location is excellent, with shopping and restaurants nearby. I will definitely stay there again when in the area.

We had an amazing stay at this location. To start, they welcome pets and have a great pet relief area! Take into consideration that their policy with pets is to stay or take them with you at all times. They are not allowed to be left alone. The location is great and the restaurant across the front parking lot has excellent meals. They also offer a 10-15% off discount if staying at this location. We had a lovely time.

Nice room with full sized tub. Fridge and microwave in room. Heated pool with hot tub was nice. It's a little off the beaten path but only a 15-20 min drive from downtown San Diego. Lots of food nearby, to include a nice seafood restaurant in the parking lot that has live music. The area is away from any loud cars/noises so that was very nice to be able to sleep in quiet. Front desk was amazing and parking was nice. There is enough parking to park an RV or larger vehicle in safety.

This hotel is perfect for anyone visiting San Diego. It's located directly off highway 5 which is a straight shot into the city or anywhere you want to go in the San Diego area, but yet it still feels quiet and secluded. There is an awesome restaurant just a few steps across the parking lot with live entertainment on the weekends. Everything has been clean as a whistle and the staff has been friendly and helpful for the entire week I've been here. A+

First time in California, all other locations where in β€œquestionable” areas. They have their own parking lot and are next to the main highway. If you never tired In an out burger it’s literally down the street. Overall great staff and clean rooms. You get what you paid for.

Got the rooms for a wedding. The rooms were really nice and cozy and CLEAN. The actual building is pretty and parking is really easy. It's right off the freeway so it's easy access. Wheelchair accessible. Friendly service. I totally recommend this place. Oh, and a cool pool n jacuzzi. Stays open till 10pm. I thought that was pretty cool too. Loved it.

My review is based on general standards for Best Western. When I check in, the best Western usually have bottled water or other refreshments. Here, they had nothing. Room was nice and clean with is highlight for all best western. Hotel was nice and free self parking. Biggest hit for me was the no breakfast. Every best western I have stayed at has breakfast. Only option they have is next door %10 off but the plate I'm eating is $20.00. Not much to save on when the hotel is $170.00 and up in average week and sometimes going over $200.00. That's understandable for the location but does not take from the fact that it's a best western standards.

Nice hotel, one of the better Best Western Plus hotels I have stayed in. Rooms are large and nicely appointed. AC worked well and wasn't loud. Staff was friendly. Would stay here again.

This is the worst hotel with inhumane customer service. We had a booking for one night for my daughter's birthday and one day before the date, we had a death in the family. The hotel denied request to change our booking and they denied refund as well. This is the worst weekend California had seen weather wise so they would not have had the room booked anyway due to weather conditionsand we booked at regular rate, it was not discounted. I urge people to avoid this place. Policies need to have a human consideration aspect to it specially when it comes to death. They ripped us off for $238 for ONE night!! #Avoid bad hotels

The environment of the room and bathroom in this hotel is very dirty. Once you walk in, it gives people a very dirty feeling. The bathtub is full of stains that have not been cleaned. The bedsheets and bath towels were very dirty, and I got an allergy when I was in the hotel, it was the first time I got an allergy my skin is itching. I talk to the manager name Cecilia, Her attitude was bad, negative, nasty, and irresponsible, and I didn't get feedback to fix the problem.

So I've been working in the hotel industry for almost 8 years. And whether if it was a 2 star or 3 star hotel, we always* had room service. Now we were here for 3 days and 2 nights. When we checked in, the FD employee, she told us we can request our room to be serviced the next day. So we went down to the front desk in the morning and asked for service. . The staff told us that the cleaning service was full that day. I've never heard anything like that my years working. After that from what I understand the hotel has limited room service and clean every other day. In the hotel industry, hotel guests* are our priority. We are supposed to accommodate our guests needs. Anyways what was the point if we didn't have our room serviced that night and the next day we were about to leave? You've got a great hotel here. Bring back full room service or add more housekeeping. If you want your ratings up, you can change that.

IMPECCABLY CLEAN ! Comfortable beds. Nice staff. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean this budget hotel was. β€œMarina” sort of gave us the wrong impression regarding location. It’s more in a Industrial shipping/military base area - not much to see - but it’s close enough to nice beaches, etc. The free wifi, free parking and CLEANLINESS won us over. We even extended our stay. Great find!

The staff were very friendly and had great customer service for the entire stay. The rooms were very clean, large, and updated with all the amenities. The pool and hot tub were fantastic and lots of fun. The free coffee station in the morning was a big plus and very convenient. Having the hotel pair up with the restaurant across the parking lot with a 15% off your entire bill if you show a hotel key card was a great addition and made us want to go back multiple times.

Lobby is nice and smells so good, nice small pool with available towels ready to grab in the table by the pool. The room is small for the price but clean and looks new. We were given the room overlooking the railways (didnt expect it). My husband didnt have the idea that the hotel is near a railway. Luckily, we were only able to hear the train pass by very early morning 3-4x of our 4th and 5th day in the hotel. We got a non-smoking room because we have a toddler but you can smell that someone is smoking in our floor which we reported to the front desk.. Kimball restaurant is next to it if you want to get food nearby.

The hotel is OK, standard clean rooms but kind of average. The mattress and the pillows though definitely need replacement! It’s also a little bit noisy (street, thin walls).

Very nice experience staying at this hotel. Very nice and clean place. Smelled like Gardenias as soon as we walked in the lobby. The rooms were roomy and very clean. Personnel was very professional, friendly and really helpful.

I did not stay in this location. I only stopped by to help a friend gather luggage before going to the airport. From what I saw, the place looked nice. I cannot speak for service or amenities. I'm a Holiday Inn Express type of traveler. But if you must it does not seem like a terrible place or choice.

Great Place rooms are not bad lobby is Beautiful. Was a little worried at first because sometimes things look nice online and in person it's a horror but NO what you see online on the site is exactly what you get Great Customer service and nice rooms. I recommend getting the room with a balcony it's beautiful.

Overall the rooms were great with great views to some of the naval ship on harbor.. But the fire alarms going off in the middle of the night were not the highlight of the night, water all over the place in the first floor. Fire Fighters said it was some sort of building fault that a safety valve went off.Twice they went off and didn't get back up to our rooms till after 3 am.. management was no help what so ever.

I enjoyed my stay here. The room was nice and big. My interest was the room alone and not the views. As is the room was nice.. The fireplace in the lobby was also memorable. I am not into holiday music though. I am a Israelite, and of the tribe of Gad, such things are negative to me, and my family.

I got this reservation last minute for a great price (May 2022). The room was clean, but what sealed it for me was the coffee/tea maker in the room & Body Armor in the vending machine. I had stomach upset from the airport in Mexico & was sick. Being able to make hot tea with the Medicinal Herbal teas that I traveled with & replenish electrolytes with a decent optioned Sports drink (rather than the norms like Gatorade, Powerade, etc) was a game changer for me & allowed me the time that I needed to recover before boarding my plane the next morning, which wouldn't have happened without that! Check-in & out were smooth, effortless & affordable. The sleep was also very comfortable, which is saying a lot considering how I was feeling. It's not a high-end stay, but it's a nice above-board, quality option. I loved that it was only 15 minutes from the airport as well. I didn't get to experience or acknowledge any other locational benefits since my stay was very short (less than 24 hrs). If in the area again, and the area is convenient to my activities & needs, I'd stay here again without hesitation. Do I recommend it? Absolutely!😊
