Needs improvement by all the means. Today visited this Fort & was very much disappointed. There are only two guards appointed for everything (on duty guard told us). Place is very much dirty & overgrown bushes are everywhere. Quite difficult to walk between them. Hope government will look into it.

Kandhar fort is 2 km long from city. Location given on Google map is accurate. Parking space is available for two wheeler in the gate and four wheeler vehicle you have to park outside gate. There is no charges for parking your vehicle. Please take water bottle with you as in fort area food and water is not available. Fort is not well maintained. Some Restoration work is running around here. Entry fees is not fixed, you have to pay as your wish.

A place with a lot of history, it is getting the attention from authorities it needs. The restoration work is going on in certain sections of the fort and needs to be appreciated, yet a lot remains to be done. Some information boards are legible, others not so much and some are absolutely washed out. There are some ruins that have been kept for display (have attached the photos).

Fort has two arches in trademark Ahmednagar style. Kandhar was popular as a major Jain Center in Rashtrakuta times. In poor condition, no care, closed for no reason, local boys indulging in hookah smoking & tobaco stuff at the entrance, no one to stop them. Beautiful place if maintained properly, local administration needs to focus on reinventing the fort
