Needs improvement by all the means. Today visited this Fort & was very much disappointed. There are only two guards appointed for everything (on duty guard told us). Place is very much dirty & overgrown bushes are everywhere. Quite difficult to walk between them. Hope government will look into it.

Kandhar fort is the very old and and big in area Kandhar┬аis a town and a┬аmunicipal council┬аin┬аNanded district┬аin the┬аIndian┬аstate┬аof┬аMaharashtra. It lies near the western shore of┬аManyad Reservoir. Kandhar was famous as a major Jain centre in the┬аRashtrakuta kingdom, having Malkhed or Manyakheta as his capital. A huge statue of Kshetrapala (deity related to Jains) is found near the bhuikot; the statue is broken but from the toenail that survives, its height is estimated to be more than 50 feet. Presently, there is an old Digambar Jain Temple in Kandhar which is awaiting for its renovation.

5 stars for the architecture. Needs to be maintained properly. 2 stars for the maintenance. There are displays installed by the government for information related to fort but are in bad shape right now. You can see the pattern of unnecessary modern encroachment as well.

(Translated by Google) The fort of Kandahar is not a fortress like Bhoi Kot fort. It is only after you get there that you understand. History should be understood while watching. Let's see why the structure of the fort is similar to construction. A turn around is not a place to visit. This fort is very old. But the fort is well preserved. And need of maintainance regularly. Kandhar Fort is located at Kandhar city in Nanded district of Maharashtra state, India. Kandhar Town is famous for its fort. Fort is situated in the heart of Kandhar Town. Very few forts in Maharashtra are as well maintained as Kandhar. The fort is encircled with a ditch full of water. Kandhar Fort construction is attributed to the Rashtrakuta King Krishna III of Malkhed who styled himself as Kandharpuradhi Swar. Outside the fort at some distance is a hillock on which is situated an old Idgah held in reverence by the Muslims. It is of Nizamshahi period with two domes in characteristic Ahmednagar style. The ruins of this majestic and historic fort are located at a distance of 50 km from the┬аRanthambhore Nationwide Park.

Surrounded by hills, the town of Kandhar in Nanded district of Maharashtra is of historic antiquity, full of archaic remains of Hindu and Muslim monuments as well as sculptures of the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religions, dating back to the Rashtrakuta dynasty. The oldest surviving structure in the fort is a stepwell from the Yadava period (9th to 14th centuries CE). Thanks to its layered existence, the main gate of the fort has a Persian inscription from Muhammad bin Tughlaq (r. 1325 тАУ 1351). Local villagers and archaeologists found bits and pieces of sculptures here. Among these fragments were parts of a giant statue of a man that once stood 60 feet high.

A place with a lot of history, it is getting the attention from authorities it needs. The restoration work is going on in certain sections of the fort and needs to be appreciated, yet a lot remains to be done. Some information boards are legible, others not so much and some are absolutely washed out. There are some ruins that have been kept for display (have attached the photos).

I recently had the opportunity to visit the impressive Khandar Fort in Maharashtra, and it was an amazing experience! Located in the town of Khandar, this historic fort is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Getting to the fort was quite an adventure itself. fort stands tall and proud, overlooking the surrounding landscape. It's a sight to behold! The architecture of the fort is fascinating, with strong walls, massive gates, and watchtowers that take you back in time. Exploring the fort was a lot of fun. I got to walk through the ancient pathways and climb up the stairs to different levels. The fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area, which made it worth the effort. I could imagine how the soldiers of the past must have felt guarding the fort from up high. One thing to note is that some parts of the fort are in ruins and require caution while exploring. However, there are signs and barriers in place to ensure the safety of visitors. Note: It's always recommended to follow safety guidelines, respect the historical significance of the site, and adhere to any rules or instructions provided by the authorities when visiting historical forts. Thank you for reading so patiently ЁЯШК

The historical land fort is having strong fortification, bastions, ditch, gates, cannon and lots of monuments. The fort was built by King Krishna 3 of Malkhed. Fort has two arches in trademark Ahmednagar style. Kandhar was popular as a major Jain Center in Rashtrakuta times. A colossal statue of Kshetrapala (god identified with jains) is found close to the fort. Old Digambar Jain Temple in Kandhar town.

(Translated by Google) This fort is located at a distance of 40 km from Nanded city near Kandahar city. The fort, built by the Rashtrakuta dynasty, has been handed over to the Tughlaqs, Adilshahs, Nizams and Mughals over time. The fort has been renovated but in a very extravagant and substandard manner, the beauty of the original construction and the fact that it is plastered with straight cement without preservation gives it a very ugly appearance. But a person with a love and affection for true history is shaken. There are mentions of inscriptions in various places but no inscriptions. In many places broken idols of Shiva, Ganapati, Nandi, Pind, Jain idols etc. come into our sight. It is clear that this demolition was done by the Muslim government and the temple was converted into a mosque according to the times. The various gates of the fort, bastions, moats, palaces, gardens, ramparts, prisons and barracks, artillery are worth seeing. Using a siphon method from a nearby lake, Malik Amber's water use method of diverting water to cool it in the summer is also noticeable. Similar constructions are also found at Himayatbagh, Bibika Mausoleum etc. in Aurangabad and the resemblance of Mughal architecture can be seen in these structures. There is a tiger-faced cannon on one of the bastions, which is fascinating. Once you get to the fort, of course you get lost in the past.
