New rest house is a historical place in Negombo right next to the negombo Fort ground. Their food is excellent, they serve alcohol and beer, and the prices are affordable. This place has an antique ambiance so don't except it to be your posh restaurant but this place also will cater all your needs. I've added the menu for liquor and food ( by April 2023 - these can change in future ).. A must go place.

Best place for Classic Rice & Curry and Seer Fish Fry.

Sajeer, the manager, was excellent and so kind. We stayed for drinks and food to watch the sunset. We had the place to ourselves. Not touristy, which I prefer, because the food is usually top when all the locals go there! And indeed, it was an amazing first dinner in Sri Lanka!

This restaurant is only about 20m from the Virgin Mary statue and well within walking distance of Negombo Fish Market. We bought fresh fish, lobsters, crabs and prawns from the market; and the restaurant chef made us a delicious lunch out of our seafood.

Best place for crab curry with roast paan and pol sambal. The place is run down and doesn't look welcoming. But it's under renovation as well. But the food is amazing. Service is also good. They have liquor as well.

Had a superb Pork rice & curry. The ambience is not all that and if you can tolerate the fishy smell you can dine in but I recommend take out.

One of Negombo’s iconic and oldest place. Super awesome food. It’s super delicious and large portions. Prices are very reasonable. Their Rice and Curry is just Rs. 900 + S.C. Only downside is service levels. We had to wait 30 mnts to get 2 beer bottles and another 30 mnts to receive our food 😇

New Rest House Negombo is so different experience from other restaurants. You will smell fish market which is not that bad and that is common in that area you might not complain about it I am sure. Place is very old but they handled it to a level which suitable for a restaurant. Food was tasty and the portions are more than enough for the pay. Better to go for sea food options in this restaurant and they serve their fresh. A bar also their and that is not modern look and obviously old fashioned. Staff is very friendly and overall the food is the main satisfaction there.
