When we reached Nellore the cab driver told this place is closed for devotees and was reluctant to take us ...we ask auto driver..he told this is not true and even took us for ziarat ..so thankful to this auto man .. This place is so calm and peaceful and must visit place The Barra shaheed or 12 scholars who taught islamic studies at their time lost their life fighting for the religion...even though they were beheaded by the enemies they kept fighting and even won the battle but lost lives ...their heads are buried at a different location from this place about 20 kms from nellore... A tiger use to come here every day after dusk and go away at dawn and used to sweep the shrine with his tail !!

Bar Shaheed dargha is notious for its fulfilling desires & for its vibrant festival " rottela panduga/ rotiyaan ko Eid " conducted for 3days urs on the eve of muharrum festival , the day in which people offer the roti in the water after fulfilling their desire and other people take this in the pond located next to dargha.

Famous and great darga in ap. Bara Shaheed Dargah is one of the well-known Dargahs in Nellore. According to the legend, the mortal remains of the 12 Muslim martyrs are buried here. These soldiers fought against the British but lost their lives in the battle. Thus, the shrine of the "12 martyrs" is named as 'Bara Shaheed Dargah'. 'Bara' means twelve and 'Shaheed' means martyrs.Another legend is about the beginning of the Roti Festival, once the wife of the Nawab of this region was very ill. None of the doctors (vaidyas) were able to cure her disease. So, the Nawab announces that anyone who suggests a proper medicine will be rewarded.Meanwhile, a washerman couple comes to Bara Shaheed Dargah and sees an ill woman praying in the shrine. They decide to return after their prayers but it gets dark. So, they stay on the banks of a tank near the Dargah. Next morning they hear about the Nawab's announcement and realise that the ill woman in Dargah was none other than Nawab's wife. They visit the Nawab and suggests him to take the soil from the Dargah and apply it on his wife's forehead. The Nawab follows their instructions and soon his wife gets cured.

Very peaceful place, went a week after rottela festival to visit.. were allowed to go inside to pray and look around.. it's better if non Muslim women cover their hair before entering, so as not to offend anyone there..

Best place to visit But I don't understand in India what why the people shows discrimination Because during carona pandamic situation every temple was opened and running it , like a function or festival.. They are not allowed to go for dargha.. It's a worst thing in India Never do like this to any religion because it makes unnecessary problem in their minds and life..

Not well maintained. The mujawar are money mongers. The parking Funda also is unexplainable. Exhorbitant. Carry your own flowers. Please note: na un par aapki phool pahunchti, na chaddar, pahunchti hai to sirf neeyat. Moreover the main dargah is of 12 shuhada whose names are unknown and historically not proven. Probably only folklore. but people are getting benefitted means there is Allah'd charm here. Can visit once in a lifetime. Suggest to try Kovalam instead.

Dargah is good and peaceful and view of pond is very pleasant during morning and evening and rottela festival is generally celebrated during Muharram festival but due to covid its not being celebrated since covid emergence. There are room at the cost of 200 rupees per 24hrs in the dargah itself. About the budget everything is costly so bring everything from one's home town to save money even fateha requirements.Boating is available in the dargah premises at a cost of 120 per person. One can reach from bustand to dargah at cost of 20 per person through auto but the auto driver might try to snatch you with extra money if ask they about fare.
