The service was so slow! We were doing a motorcycle ride and wanted to stop for a quick bite. It was not so quick. 2PM on a Monday and it took 1 hour. I had the cucumber jalapeño margarita. It was well balanced and delicious. They even had non alcoholic cocktails. We were glad we ordered chips and guac because the service was so slow. The guac tasted like it was store bought and not special. The tacos are super tiny. I was impressed with the Barbacoa taco. The lamb was braised nicely and went well with the rojo salsa. The camarón tacos went well with the mango habanero salsa. The waitress didn’t explain any of the sauces. The food was ok, but not enough to redeem for the bad service. We wouldn’t come back again.

To celebrate Family Day today we chose La Cantina. We arrived before noon and we were seated immediately, orders taken, applies arrived promptly. The server was friendly and efficient. We chose tacos, soup, burritos and Virgen margaritas- Big flavours and very filling. I I appreciated the music wasn’t too loud for us to talk comfortably. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be returning before the summer slam of tourists. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

Always great food! Delicious and interesting tacos and more. Only downside is $12 bucks for chips and Salsa is a bit ridiculous. Get the fried avocado instead.

Great cocktails, service and food. We just stopped in for a quick bite but we got lucky and got a patio table in the mid-October sun on a warm afternoon... perfect. The Caesar and Cucumber Jalepeno Margarita were excellent and the tacos were some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommended.

Tasty tacos and margaritas! Visited on a Taco Tuesday. The place was super busy, but we did not have to wait long for a spot on the patio. Service was slow, but when the food and drinks arrived, they were good! The margaritas seemed over priced, but went down well on a hot evening.

Fantastic service. Tacos al pastor amazing, Tacos de carne asada not bad at all. The surprise was the enchiladas de pollo tinga - not what I'd call super authentic after 12 or 13 trips to Mexico, but really really good. Had a fine margarita as well. I'll be back.

If I could give this spot more than 5 stars I sincerely would. From the cocktails to the divine, flavorful tacos, and the service from Jesse our waitress who was the most pleasant soul, this is a MUST visit spot in Downtown Nelson.

Great drinks, decent food, but flavors between tacos were not distinct and were a bit pricey. Good atmosphere. I'd recommend the papas bravas!

Nice atmosphere (little sticky table/ ground). We reserved for Tuesday evening (taco evening). It was crowded and the waitresses seemed to have difficulty serving people (later we understood there was only 1 person doing the taco's). Taco's took forever and were very /very small. Taco shells were terrible cheap (in my opinion non eatible). We only received our taco chips after our desert.... and then they gave 2 saying one was on the house as we had to wait so long.... (but why was this not served earlier...????.. No good experience and left hungry. The taco price was not high but expensive for what you get.

The food is spectacular. The tacos are extremely small .. just tough to fill up for a reasonable price. But very good food and service!!

We loved our dinner at Cantina Del Centro! Our server Nico was exceptional. So warm! Our food was insanely delicious! If I could give them 10 stars I would. Our kids are every last bite! We think we may have to go back before we head home! Thank you Nico!

We came in for a couple of margarita’s for my partners birthday- they were really busy but found us a table. Super friendly service from Jess(?), drinks were delicious! I had the passion fruit margarita and it was amazing. Birthday shot for the birthday boy was on the house, will 100% be back.

Too busy eating to take a photo of my food. OH MY GAWD is the food good! I had the taco special with some flavor explosion of spicy, and tangy seasonings that I was shamelessly trying to scrape from my plate with a spoon. My husband had the chicken enchiladas, which were equally capable of starting their own religion. It was Margarita Monday, so naturally I had a couple of those. There's one on their menu with jalapeños and cucumber that was delicious. I plan to go back tomorrow and order EXACTLY the same things. Oh yeah. And our service was really good.

The dishes at La Cantina del Centro are the closest thing to Mexican food, the presentation, the flavor, the decoration, highly recommended

What an amazing experience. The food was outstanding. Avocado Frito was out favorite but everything was exceptional. Our server was incredible and even ran down a block to give us the salsa we bought and left. I highly recommend

This is a lovely place with a pleasing menu. Carnivores and vegetarians will both be happy with whatever is on the menu. They have a rotating special of the day. Flavourful and presentation is always good. Someone other than me will be able to describe the extensive tequilas displayed at the flashy bar. Amazing art is always on the wall adds to the vibes of this place.

Decent Mexican food but some of the meat was dry especially when it shouldn't have been. I went mainly for the chicken sandwich for the local burger month unfortunately it left a lot to be desired the chicken was 2 thin pieces breaded heavily so it appeared to be a large amount but it wasn't and it was very chewy. The tacos were alright but the beef was drier then what I would expect for an Carne Asada. The drink was good.

I ordered two margaritas, the passion fruit one and the ginger cardamom. Both were recommended by my server. They were delicious plus on Mondays it's margarita Monday so you get $2 off a margarita. I really appreciated how the server asked me how I liked my margaritas. She was overall an amazing server and I would definitely go back.

AMAZING! Vegan? Try their vegan nachos! Lots of veg options which is great. Small indoor seating but they have a patio on Baker St over summer months. Polite staff who are great at their job! Love mexican? Definitely check this place out

We showed up Friday night just after 8:00pm and it was packed. After a short line we were seated and ordered some drinks. First round took awhile but obviously understandable due to the huge rush they were seeing. The staff handled everything with mighty prowess. The food and drink we’re incredible. We tried 5 different tacos and they were all great. I recommend trying the coconut habanero margaritas. Everyone working tonight deserves a raise. Open up a Vancouver location and we’ll be back every week. Much love!

We were there on the long weekend, but it was super slow service. They didn't seem overly busy as there was empty tables, but our server was cheerful. I'd definitely go back and try again the next time I am in Nelson!

Great service and excellent tacos! Tuesday tacos means 4 for the price of 3. They aren't big but 4 is enough! Lots of beers, cocktails, and tequilas available. Great place for couples, highly recommend for authentic Mexican food.

Taco night was a great way to try several tacos and don't miss enjoying a margarita with your meal. I had the ginger cardamon margarita so much flavor. Tacos I tried the fish, shrimp, avocado and squash. The shrimp and the avocado were my favorites. Make sure you ask for hot sauce. Service was great.

Fantastic experience last weekend! All of us had the Jalapeno Face burger of the month and it blew our minds it was so good. Customer service was polite, funny, and efficient despite the busy night and my bumbling nature regarding all of the vaccine checks. The atmosphere was great with an easy mix of music and a steady buzz of conversation. My wife enjoyed her margarita. Thanks for the great evening!
