Very unpleasant and racist experience. No one was serving me when I got to the counter and I had to ask the staff “can I make my order”. The staff called my name and looked at me when my coffee was ready, then immediately chatted with other staff. I said thank you to the lady but she didn't say a word to me. I waited there for a long time and I saw that the lady smiled and said “have a gday” to everyone who picks up coffee. I'm not a person who asks the staff must be friendly to me, that's too mean. But at least it should provide the same and equal service to every guest. I don't know if the Blue Koala treated me differently because it was too busy today or if I'm just an Asian. I never thought I'd be racist in our community so I’d rather think you guys were just busy. Will not go back anymore. ———————————— Hi Jason. Thanks for your reply. Yes that lady “were pleasant to all of them but me” - I reconfirm this fact and I am willing to take responsibility for it. The lady served a young couple and two ladies with kindness before I got my coffee and I was just totally IGNORED by her. The ignoring didn't just happen when I ordered, it lasted until I left. As I said before we cannot ask every staff to be friendly but at least they should serve every guests with the same attitude. Besides I stayed there more than a minute and you didn’t show your kindness during the time at all. I was supposed to feel comfortable when I was your place, however, you hoped me, who was really offended, spending one more minute to rethinking. This comment based on all I experienced during these “a minute”. So I’m sorry I can’t take. I feel lucky to live in a diverse and respectful community and I won’t change my mind. Thank you. Kate

Great little Cafe in Smith complex right across from Woolworths. Friendly accommodating staff. Good for early morning coffee. We got the morning deal of medium coffee and bacon & egg roll for $10. The coffee was good. The b&e roll was very tasty with the bun fresh and soft, the bacon well cooked. You could choose tomato or BBQ sauce. If you want to sit in, try to sit upstairs Definitely better feel to sitting up there . They even offer the option of book swapping upstairs. Worth an early morning visit.

Dropped in here by chance. Great coffee. T2 tea for those who like that stuff. Had the Blue Cheese Burger it was delicious . It was our sons birthday they even found a candle to put in a muffin. Bit hard to organise a birthday when your stuck at a hospital. So thank you Blue Koala you guys rock.

Thank you Jason and team. _________________________________ First time today 28.8.2022 Jason and team were so accommodating to make a matcha latte (without the coffee) even though it wasn't on the menu as I dined in. Then after shopping at Woollies ordered takeaway small hot chips and chicken carbonara. The hot chips was lovely 😊 Thank you to you and your team 🙌🌻

Lovely little cafe in the Surrounds precinct. Really pleasant vibe with energetic and friendly staff that are happy to have a chat. Sister and I popped in for a drink and light snack. I ordered the lemon ice tea and my sister got the frappe, we also had a small chips to share. Great ice drink with real lemon slices and my sisters chocolate frappe was creamy and delicious! After a generous serving or crispy chips, we were very satisfied. Bonus points for having powerplugs so I could charge my device. It is right next to the supermarket and bottlo so not the cutest spot but a lovely vibe. Although I didn't check it out you can sit upstairs which is a nice idea.

As a fresh resident of the Gold Coast, I’ve been on the hunt for the best coffee I could get my hands on for the past few months. Safe to say, I’ve found it at the Blue Koala! Jason and the team are exceptional with their quality of service and delivery and I just can’t find my oat cap served better elsewhere. My go-to and forever cafe! Thanks Blue Koala

Great service and coffee every time ! Just opposite Woolies so really handy for me. Top tip: Hidden upstairs is a nice little spot to chill out.

What a fantastic spot! The people, the food—everything is just amazing. Whenever we find the time, my wife, daughter, and I absolutely adore going there. Upstairs, they've got this super cozy and inviting space with plenty of books and toys for the little ones. It's a must-visit place!

Absolutely no complaints!!! Food was fabulous, portion sizes were out of this world and the service was incredible. We booked out the balcony space for a corporate breakfast and it hit the target. Parking is easy, location is simple, food is excellent and we will certainly be back again.

Tucked into the smith collective. This was a surprising find on my recent trip to the Gold Coast. The staff are friendly. And if you don’t want to sit outside and look at Woolworths, you can pop upstairs for some privacy or borrow a book. The prices were very reasonable and the mocha hit the spot.

Friendly staff, great coffee and a great dining experience upstairs (with proximity to the university and living areas) makes coming here a no brainer.
