Hessen
ist
mit
märchenhaften
Fachwerkhäusern
erstklassig
bestückt.
Eins
der
spektakulärsten
Fachwerkhäuser
ist
sicherlich
das
Rathaus
in
Alsfeld.
Alsfeld
eine
Stadt
mit
Geschichte
Von
Frankfurt
aus
führte
die
alte
Handelsstraße
durch
die
Wetterau.
Sie
führt
an
Alsfeld
vorbei
und
führt
weiter
in
Richtung
Leipzig.
Dass
ein
so
wichtiger
Standort
ein
wichtiger
Handelsplatz
wurde
liegt
auf
der
Hand.
Man
erkennt
es
immer
noch
an
den
prächtigen
Häusern
die
am
Marktplatz
stehen.
Am
Alsfelder
Rathaus
hängt
seit
dem
Jahre
1536
die
“Alsfelder
Elle”.
Sie
war
das
offizielle
Maß
der
Stadt.
Zur
Schlichtung
eines
Streites
war
das
nötig.
Erst
viel
später
wurde
eine
einheitliches
Maß,
also
unser
Meter
einheitlich
festgelegt.
Damals
hatten
die
Händler
noch
sehr
unterschiedliche
Maßeinheiten.
Wenn
mann
bedenkt,
dass
gerade
in
den
fünfziger
und
sechziger
Jahren
sehr
viele
alte
Fachwerkhäuser
abgerissen
wurden,
so
ist
das
heute
ein
richtiger
Kulturschatz.
Hier
stehen
mehr
als
400
Fachwerkhäuser
und
alle
sind
gut
erhalten.
Der
örtliche
Tourismusverband
freut
sich
sicherlich
über
diese
Kulisse.
1975
wurde
die
Stadt
sogar
als
“Europäische
Modellstadt
für
Denkmalschutz”
ausgezeichnet!
Zum
Glück
wurde
die
Innenstadt
von
Waschbetonbauten
oder
ähnlichen
Bausünden
verschont.
Die
Attraktivität
der
Innenstadt
mit
den
kleinen
Mädchen
ist
auch
ein
gutes
Mittel
gegen
das
Sterben
des
Einzelhandels.
Kleine
Cafés
uns
Shops
eignen
sich
nicht
für
große
Handelsketten.
So
ist
es
nicht
verwunderlich,
dass
das
was
zeitweise
als
rückständig
bald
jetzt
zum
attraktiven
Ausflugsziel
wird.
Die
meisten
kennen
Alsfeld
weil
man
auf
der
A5
daran
vorbei
fährt,
aber
man
sollte
eine
kurze
Pause
in
Alsfeld
machen
und
sich
ein
paar
Minuten
Auszeit
nehmen,
denn
die
Altstadt
ist
wirklich
sehenswert.
Tip:
Wenn
Sie
unterwegs
von
Frankfurt
aus
in
Richtung
Norden
unterwegs
sind,
dann
planen
Sie
Ihre
Kaffeepause
einfach
in
Alsfeld
ein.
Es
ist
mit
Sicherheit
entspannter
und
Interessanter
als
eine
Raststätte
und
vermutlich
billiger.

Hessen
is
equipped
with
first-class
fairytale
half-timbered
houses.
One
of
the
most
spectacular
half-timbered
houses
is
certainly
the
town
hall
in
Alsfeld.
Alsfeld
a
town
with
history
From
Frankfurt,
the
old
trade
route
led
through
the
Wetterau.
It
passes
Alsfeld
and
continues
in
the
direction
of
Leipzig.
That
such
an
important
location
became
an
important
trading
center
is
obvious.
You
can
still
recognize
it
by
the
magnificent
houses
that
stand
on
the
market
square.
The
“Alsfelder
Elle”
has
been
hanging
on
the
Alsfeld
town
hall
since
1536.
She
was
the
official
measure
of
the
city.
This
was
necessary
to
settle
a
dispute.
It
was
only
much
later
that
a
uniform
measure,
i.e.
our
meter,
was
defined.
At
that
time,
traders
still
had
very
different
units
of
measurement.
If
you
consider
that
a
lot
of
old
half-timbered
houses
were
demolished
in
the
1950s
and
1960s,
it's
a
real
cultural
treasure
today.
There
are
more
than
400
half-timbered
houses
here
and
they
are
all
well
preserved.
The
local
tourism
association
is
certainly
happy
about
this
backdrop.
In
1975
the
city
was
even
recognized
as
a
“European
model
city
for
monument
protection”!
Luckily,
the
inner
city
was
spared
exposed
aggregate
concrete
buildings
or
similar
structural
mistakes.
The
allure
of
downtown
with
the
little
girls
is
also
a
good
antidote
to
retail
dying.
Small
cafés
and
shops
are
not
suitable
for
large
retail
chains.
So
it
is
not
surprising
that
what
was
once
considered
backwards
is
now
becoming
an
attractive
destination.
Most
know
Alsfeld
because
you
drive
past
it
on
the
A5,
but
you
should
take
a
short
break
in
Alsfeld
and
take
a
few
minutes
off,
because
the
old
town
is
really
worth
seeing.
Tip:
If
you
are
heading
north
from
Frankfurt,
simply
plan
your
coffee
break
in
Alsfeld.
It's
definitely
more
relaxed
and
interesting
than
a
rest
stop
and
probably
cheaper.
