Great service, authentic Japanese food and fresh ingredients makes it super yum!!

29 July, 2023 Apologies to my followers, I'm not inspired to write a companion story for this review. I've struggled with rating Kicho. I've visited several times and I've always liked it. However, I was not so impressed with my last visit. The fish is very fresh, with ample color and flavor. However, their sushi rolls seem rather bland to me and could use other ingredients to pick them up. I also felt the eel was overpriced. I get that the eel is expensive, but other items could be served with it other than just rice so I don't feel cheated. I usually give three stars to a restaurant that I don't plan on returning to. This doesn't mean the food was bad, in most cases the food is enjoyable enough. However, I feel that Kicho deserves more than a three for serving quality fish, which can be hard to come by, and a large variety of fish. My final rating is 4/5, "Kicho serves quality fish but lacks creativity and execution when it comes to sushi rolls."

The sushi were so delicious so I didn’t feel like getting distracted from eating them. The fish is very fresh and caviar is gently salty, and the most important thing is that the rice was the real and proper sushi rice which is very rare to find on European region, the rice itself was a perfection! I am really sorry but I was utterly disappointed with the food that Kicho had to offer. An authentic Japanese cuisine and that too a renowned one cannot only just thrive by just serving good Sushi/Sashimi. I went to try out what other Kicho had to offer apart from their known Sushi. The ramen was the biggest disappointment. The broth lacked the texture and the taste. The broth was really thin and watery, the meat was well marinated though. My suggestion would be that Kicho can only be enjoyed when one only plans on having Sushi! For other dishes like Ramen, Karaage there are lot of good options in and around Stuttgart.

A friend and I visited this restaurant for the Sukiyaki. We opted for the Nabemono menu for two with Sukiyaki. The starters and the sushi were excellent. The seafood soup that arrived in a teapot was delicious. The only letdown was sukiyaki. Although a lot of items were delivered, the broth, unfortunately wasn't diluted with water when it evaporated. This resulted in a broth that became progressively concentrated. The service staff should have refilled the pot with hot water. The Macha ice-cream for dessert was unbelievably good. If it wasn't for the faux pas with the sukiyaki, I would have given a 5* review.

Awesome!! Very Japanese in service, ambiance and food quality! We ordered 2 boats - one of sashimi and one of sushi and both were amazing. Special mention to the matcha dessert combination. And bonus point for the service - maybe I am too used to German restaurants but in Kicho, you just make eye contact with a waiter and 2 second later they are very politely asking what you want.
