The snack portion is big enough for dinner. I had fried sausage with potatoes. The other ordered fried pork knuckles, and they seemed they liked it. Have a few more beer selections than other similar spots. There are enough servers running around and actively taking orders and getting the checks. Things move fast here, and because of the view of the cathedral, the place is very enjoyable outdoor!

The context of a hugely touristic location should be considered when reading the review. It's expensive for what or is, but is located right in the busiest and most 'desirable' part of town. Prices and service reflect that. However, pretty good on the whole. Service was quick and efficient. Food was better than the location might suggest. It was actually very good on the day. You could do a lot worse than stop by here when visiting the city of Freiburg.

Came here recently with my wife and a friend to meet up while we were in town. I was drawn to here as a dinner option because of the schweinshaxe, one of my all-time favorite German dishes. It did not disappoint! Surprisingly, I didn’t have the usual heavy feeling you usually get after tackling such a big meal (not to mention the liter of beer it was accompanied by). As far as flavor goes, it was normal good brewery-style food. Not outstanding, but perfect for the cool, rainy day we were having. The waiter was very patient with us as we were catching up while trying to decide what to order and perhaps coming across as indecisive! The beer was probably my favorite part. I don’t know if it was the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic had prevented me from traveling and visiting authentic German brewery restaurants or what, but it was so crisp and refreshing. If nothing else, come here for a good beer. The environment felt very local and traditional. Didn’t notice any other tourists. Overall a very good local pub experience!

the waiter makes fun of the Italian customers. he is rude. when I asked for the bill he mocked me. he closed the outdoor umbrella with the rain making us all wet. when I said "very kind" he replied defiantly. not recommended for tourists.

Menus only in German. Rude waiters. Store bought sauce. Cold side dishes. Generally ok considering the position.

Really good brewery I'm Freiburg Germany. Definitely recommend the locally brewed unfiltered Pilsner.

Food was fine, nothing special. Service was again okay, but very short and to the point. Relatively pricey as well. Amazing view of the church though!

I've been here a couple of times and have had good experiences both times. Each time, I've gone with a small group and we got the meter of beer, which is essentially a 6-beer flight of 3 different beers. Each pour is .25l I believe a.k.a. you get a lot of beer for only 20 euros. The food is really good and in generous portions, especially the "snack" menu. The service is adequate, certainly German, but when we brought our stroller, host accommodated us by asking a couple of gentlemen to give up their booth for us, so I was grateful for that. Overall, a nice place and would go again.

Food quality is really average. Some of the menu items were sold out. Pretzels were too dry and crispy(brown inside). I would not come back again. Beer is ok.

Was here to enjoy coffee and German Chocolate cake. The cake was unfortunately quite dry which could be because we were in a tourist group. Sometimes I think restaurants do this to get tourists and they end up just going through the motions with the service and quality. I hope/imagine the experience would be better if we were not with a group. Outdoor seating was beautiful.

Great location being on the square opposite the Minster. Service was relatively quick, so long as you get the waiter's attention.

I love this place. Prime spot right by Freiburg Munster and ideal for people watching. Didn't have food just good beer.

Beautiful view of the cathedral, and it's a real treat when the church bells sound the hour, reverberating off the old stone city streets and buildings. The sausages were delicious, the beer too.

Excellent service, delicious food, enormous portions, and great views of the munster from this restaurant serving traditional German food. We ordered the Schweinshaxe and it was amazing! Served over a bed of saueurkraut in a pool of wine sauce beside two potato dumplings. The pork knuckle was incredibly crispy and the meat was juicy and steaming hot. It paired beautifully with the wine sauce and saueurkraut. The waitresses were very kind and attentive, and they could speak English.

Great place Great traditional food Slightly expensive but considering it is next to the center next to the cathedral... Expected

The service is ok, a little slow, but ok. The place is great, just under the cathedral and by the rathaus. The prices are high, which is understandable, except for the water, 5.60€ for 0,5l of still water?!?!

Excellent location, right next to the cathedral. We were able to sit at the terrasse enjoying the view and the delicious food.
