Lovely hotel in the authentic black forest village Hinterzarten. Despite the long history, the buildings are in good shape and several parts are freshly renovated. There's a rumor that the tradition of moving the leg of ham from the lunch's salad buffet to the cheese hut for dinner is as old as the hotel itself (over 500 years) and can be attended daily at ~2pm and 10pm. Unfortunately, this leg of ham is view-only but the waiters have a nice sense of humor and serve you a huge plate of specialities from the black forest (including ham!) when you show interest in the leg of ham. Also definitely worth mentioning are the treats served for coffee and cake time at 5pm! Besides being super delicious, the waiters bring multiple étagères full of cake and puddings to the meeting room. In conclusion, the fear of ever being hungry is absolutely without substance and I can highly recommend the hotel.

A wonderful hotel all-around. Great food, friendly and helpful staff, excellent amenities like the wellness and indoor/outdoor swimming pools, and a top tier organization. A strong recommendation for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in the Black Forest.

My stay was delightful. The breakfast was good for European standards and quite satisfying. Dinner impressed with its quality. I particularly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi area, appreciating the lack of crowds. The hotel's distinctive architecture, featuring an old historic building connected to more modern buildings via subterranean passages, added a unique charm to the experience.

Great stay at this hotel, the food was outstanding, rooms where well decorated and spacious, fantastic facilities (spa, gym, playground, pool, games room) which was perfect for us as a family. The welcome into the room with complimentary cakes, robe and slippers, along with toys for children to play with was fantastic. The hotel is a real treat, however there were afew small changes which I would recommend. You’re paying for full board but not quite receiving full board. The evening meal drinks are not included (there is even a fee for tap water) and you are also charged for the children’s meals & drinks. The entire hotel doesn’t have any air conditioning, this is due to the age of the building. However not to even have a fan provided in the room is a shame. The weather was hot which affected our sleep. Although the hotel was beautiful and a great place to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It felt a little “too posh and pretentious”. The hotel caters for families on one hand but mainly attract elderly guests. I felt uncomfortable at times being starred at by other guests and felt like the only young English family there. The bikes were available to hire, however there were only 4 adult bikes available with no children bikes so we couldn’t enjoy a ride as a family. There is however one four seater family bike which was a lot of fun to try. This was certainly a pleasant stay but I would certainly be mindful of the points above and set your expectations before arrival.

Their webpage is very rudimentary, so you’re better off just phoning them. The location is beautiful, the grounds perfectly kept, as is the spa and pool. The rooms are spacious and have great views. The dinner restaurant is fantastic, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Opposed to breakfast and lunch. The personnel is overwhelmed and not very professional, though willing. You see that they are being trained and the supervisors are really trying, but still… the trays are not cleaned between users, they are smaller than the plates they are supposed to carry, the eggs in the buffet are made from a mixture, unless you order them directly to your table. Every serving utensil was sticky. So, continue with the training! It would be ideal to get to the quality of dinner!! For the rest, it is a pet friendly hotel, they provide you with bags to pickup after your dog… and then, there is not one single garbage can in the whole property to dispose of it!

Food was really good, service was excellent too. The girl organizing the events was very kind to us and always open to hear our needs.

The location and facility are amazing! We had beautiful snow falls that just created a winter wonderland. If you don’t speak German - be prepared to experience communication challenges. Very little instruction and direction was received by the front desk so we messed up on a few things that cost us more in the long run. My recommendation is to get as much info in advance - use a translator on phone and ask for everything in writing. The Spa manager was the only rude person we experienced I have 3 stars just because of lack of communication and a bit of attitude by the Spa personnel. However location and facility is 5stars.

The Parkhotel Adler was absolutely wonderful. We expected great quality but it was even better than our expectations. The hotel is in a great location at the end of the village and surrounded by a beautiful park with a small deer enclosure, all of which is excellently maintained. The food is simply delicious, including the vegetarian options offered. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. The three menu choices were inspiring each evening and I loved that fact that there was so much flexibility to order a different main course or dessert if we wanted it. The rooms were beautiful and well equipped, in a combination of Schwarzwald-typical furniture and modern efficiency. The entire spa and wellness area is reachable underground or via a few steps through the park and offers everything we could have asked for. The staff is without a single exception, extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I sincerely hope it won’t be too long until we are able to return.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel. Our welcome was warm and thoughtful. The car was parked for us, luggage was taken to the room upon request. The room was very cosy and clean and we immediately felt at home. The staff was friendly at all times and made us feel comfortable. The only downside was that the pool in the spa was too cold, we were there in the winter months and expected a warm pool especially for the outside area. We really enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel which was included. It had a big variety of sweet and savoury and we particulary enjoyed the cosy atmosphere in the breakfast room. Overall we had a wonderful relaxing stay.

The perfect stay - from lovely surprises in our room to extremely attentive waiting staff. The Parkhotel is a very special place indeed and we look forward to coming back!

We had a very nice one-night stay at this hotel which offers their style of "full board" as standard. The hotel has spacious rooms, still retaining some old-fashioned chart, as well as a spa (2x saunas, steam room, indoor pool, outdoor pool and jacuzzi). Things to note: - The afternoon tea (from 3-5) is worth turning up in time for! Cute cakes and sandwiches served (included in the standard price). - The dinner was also excellent, and served efficiently, which suited us! - Friendly and helpful staff - The outdoor pool looked very new, however was a touch cold to really "enjoy" in October, however this is a minor complaint, and we spent our time in the hot tub instead!

Another great stay at Parkhotel Adler. Upgraded rooms are really impressive especially in the Residence wing. Food remains very good and service is excellent.Very easy to reach by train with 2 x hourly train from Freiburg.

Last weekend our company organised a 3-day sportscar rally event for approximately 40 people at Parkhotel Adler. The whole event was perfectly managed by the events team, and the front office team couldn't also be more helpful. Not a single request was too much. From the wonderful rooms, the splendid location, and extensive gardens, to the well-managed and delicious dinner, and excellent service, we had an amazing stay. Definitely your 'home away from home'. We will be back!

Beautiful setting and great wellness area and pool. Very friendly staff, good food and the accomodated requests such as gluten-free, too. Just the garage costs 15 euro the night plus 10 if you want to charge your car which I find quite a lot given that you already pay for the room.
