Got there early and got a parking space pretty easily. About 1.5 mile hike to the location. Beautiful clean clear water. Plenty of areas to set up for the day. If you’re looking specifically to go to Hoyts Crossing, be warned that there are A LOT of naked men. Not in a gross way, everyone was respectful, but something to be aware of. I read a ton of reviews before going and I wasn’t prepared for that level of nudity. This is a NUDE beach!! Enjoy

Map is not correct, cannot enter private land. See screenshot, go to South Yuba River Bridge and park. Cross the bridge and take high trail to actual Hoyt's Crossing. 15-20 minute walk depends on pace. Careful of narrow spots with long steep drops, NOT a child friendly path! Leads to a nude area of Hoyt's Crossing, both men & women enjoy sun bathing by the river. Simply beautiful ancient river bed with a fast, cold, crystal clear blue water flow. Enjoy, watch your step in and out. Wear shoes, it is a moderate hike.

Beautiful natural pools, grand granite rock scenery, and lots of good company. There are many off-shoots from the trail that goes up steam. The trail is not a stroll in the park, so be ready to work for it. If you hike in about 3/4 Mike, you'll find a clothing optional area where there are rock slides, sandy shores, and tons of fish that swim right up to you. Bring plenty of water and don't forget to pick up after yourself. This is a great family spot, no matter where you decide to get in the water.

BEAUTIFUL!!! A short hike along side the river will get you to many swimming spots. At some of the swimming spots... quite a few people treat it as a nude beach. So either have fun or chose to ignore. Absolutely stunning views

Loved this place. It's a heck of a little hike, especially if you're thinking it's going to be a little stroll. Bring some water and follow the trail up the river to find a bunch of little spots to hang out. 06/24/2022 UPDATE: The beach up at Hoyt's is back. It's not much, but it's there. Water is way too fast to cross or go swim in the deep area. Maybe another couple weeks and it'll be better.

Secluded spot. Be prepared to hike for 15 minutes before you reach the spot. The water is clean and cold but swimmable in even in May. The place is known to be Nude beach and I did see a lot of Nude people so be prepared for that.

It was a long hike, but it was so beautiful! Well worth the effort. I wouldn't take children smaller than 6 or 7 on the trail. There's a couple of spots that are a little iffy, with REALLY long drops! Don't let little ones run ahead!

Nothing like a bit of nature (and nudity). And really is a great place, lots of great things for kids to do as well!

Hoyts crossing is one of the greatest swimming holes you can find on the plant, imo. It’s gorgeous and has a cool community that has grown around it. A true example of naturist lifestyle, people respect this land and the people who frequent it. You can come here and be confident that you will meet lots of good people with little pretense often wearing nothing but smiles, and yet… completely family friendly. Wearing clothes here is not weird, but neither is not wearing them. The landscapes and views are majestic. The rock formations and wildlife are fit for National Geographic special.

The trail is relatively short and well maintained. The river is fast and cold right now with very few places to swim / cool off. Beautiful river views. Still plenty of wildflowers to be seen. Well maintained portables at the start of the trail. If you can’t handle nudity,or at least keep negative comments to yourself, then please don’t go. All the reviews I’ve seen have warned of nudity and there is a sign warning you before you get to the end of the trail. Just let go of your inhibitions and be naked in nature😁Not everyone was nude. Most people were respectful and friendly, nude or not.

Beautiful and hidden gem in Northern California, for the gay area you need to follow the trial like 20 minutes away from the bridge but recommend

Access via South Yuba river bridge. This area is California at it’s best.

I was hoping to swim in the lagoons I remember but the river was flooded this year from all the rain. Someone told me they had released a dam from a lake somewhere up above and that was why there was the extra water too. Some girls at Hoyts appeared visibly uncomfortable with the naked people and they kept moving around to be away from it. I sort of forgot and walked by them naked and they again appeared visibly distraught. I think though if you are like that you shouldn’t go. I sunbathed naked on some rocks by the highway 49 bridge because there was others naked there too but I noticed crowds gathering looking and taking pictures.
