Adorable little authentic German restaurant with a great atmosphere! I highly recommend calling for a reservation if possible, but they squeezed in our small party on a busy Saturday night. There is an extensive selection of German beers and wines, and pairings are recommended on the menu! In addition, the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and can steer you in the direction of a perfect beer. The Jager schnitzel was delicious, and it is a sizeable portion! Another member of our party got the schnitzel with the spicy paprika sauce, and really enjoyed it also! To add to the ambiance, the accordian player with lederhosen is a lot of fun and plays beautifully! I highly recommend checking out this charming restaurant.

Food was very good. This is the first time we have had German food since we left Germany. It was pretty close to what we had in Germany. The only thing we were disappointed about was they were out of all of their desserts. The hostess told us they usually sold out of everything by Friday so that's something to keep in mind. It must be pretty good if they sell out before the weekend! We'd go back here.

Authentic German Food, SO Good! The food, ambience, music & service made this a memorable dining experience. Definitely recommend the Fried Brie, Weiner Schnitzel (Pork) w/ Spatzle, side of sour cream gravy, red cabbage & sauerkraut. Homemade, authentic & so flavorful. Went on a Sunday evening and there was live entertainment with an accordion playing singer. Our server was fantastic making great recommendations. They did run out of desserts, look forward to trying them the next time!

We love this place! It's tradition to come here with our frieneds every year after tubing on the river. It's always nice to enjoy good German food after being in the sun, on the river, for 4-6 hours. The staff is always very friendly, polite, and helpful. Food is great if you know what flavors/textures you like and you read the description. If you're deciding between 2 or 3 dishes, the servers can provide more insight and help you pick something you'd like. The schnitzels and sausages are always good options. We got the zigeuner schnitzel and the sauerbraten and liked them a lot. The best thing was the soup of the day though - cream of mushroom soup. If it's available the next time we visit I'd get a giant bowl of that lol.

Really good, AUTHENTIC, German food. If you have ever been to Germany and miss it, go here! Good simple German food. Lori and Bette were super nice and inviting. Thank you for the great conversation!

This is the best German food in TX! This was our first time here and Lexie was very patient and informative. We started with the fried brie plate with ham. Then we split the jägerschnitzel and the cordon blue schnitzel. Everything was delicious. We ended with the Alpine delight. Chocolatey and delicious. We will be back!

Excellent tasty comfort food, large portions, attentive service. Comfortable ambience in a cute little house. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly with moist meat. Mushroom gravy was tasty. Felt very satisfied after the meal. Would eat here again.

This place is inside a historic house in downtown New Braunfels and has 100% legit German food and atmosphere! All the food is more than amazing and cooked to order. You can literally hear them in the kitchen pounding out the meat for the schnitzel. The food menu has fairly limited selection but we liked that since it shows they specialize in what they make. On the other hand, the beer menu is extensive and 90% German beer! The space itself is cozy and they even had an accordion player come out towards the end of our visit to play and sing. Only downside was we were really looking forward to dessert (specifically the apple strudel) but they had run out of all desserts. The dessert maker only cooks once a week and it was recommended to come in mid-week if you want dessert. Overall we loved this place and will be back!!

We may be biased because my wife and I met in Germany 🇩🇪 and we love good German Food and this place provided just that. Even if it's not cooked by a German, which we do not know one way or the other, they make great German Food with great German Recipes 😀

Simple excellence! The staff is great and very gracious to a couple wearing silly Christmas t-shirts. The food is simple German but very well done. The potato dumplings are the best we have had. The sausage sampler with mustard and cheese really hits the spot. The pretzel with mustard and cheese is so delicate without any cheese to it - unlike any I've ever had. It must be fresh. We will try to visit every time we are in town! Oh! Wait! The beer! Try the Trapp! (Trappistes Rochafort) Beer Advocate scored it 100!

Best German food in NB! We've had jager schnitzel, saurkraut, red cabbage, potato dumplings, sausage plate, pretzel, potato soup and the strudel. All were extremely good. Service and atmosphere are excellent. Highly recommended!

Living in New Braunfels, Texas, the Alpine Haus Restaurant is a German food must try!! The most authentic German food you can get in a multi city radius. The atmosphere is old school and the service is great. The food is the star though! We went with friends since none of us had been there for awhile. We all said “excellent decision for dinner”. Fried Mushrooms 9/10 - they came lightly fried with a horseradish base dipping sauce. I know, it sounds a little weird, but holy cow was it good! You just have to experience it yourself. Sausage Sampler Platter 9/10 - it comes with 3 different sausages that are chefs choice. The sampler comes with 2 dips, a beer cheese and German mustard. The beer cheese was good, but the German mustard was my favorite. A little bold, but not overpowering. I added a side of German sauerkraut which was amazing. Jaeger Schnitzel 10/10 - this dish was really good! The schnitzel was cooked to perfection. It was lightly battered, moist and cut cut with a fork. The mushroom sour cream gravy added a nice flavorful touch. Chicken Cordon Bleu 9/10 - another excellent dish worth exploring. Jaeger Rahm Schnitzel 10/10 - look above at the Jaeger Schnitzel. Same experience. Service 8/10 - overall good. Sophie was our server and was great. She was nice and helpful. Atmosphere 9/10 - old school charm and cozy digs. Overall 10/10 - must try if you like authentic German food

This was our third time at Alpine Haus. The food and ambiance never fail. Be sure to make a reservation at this busy restaurant. Our only disappointment was we had a 6:30 reservation, felt rushed and they ran out of dessert. They make all their desserts by scratch in the morning but it just didn’t feel right! Lots of complaints on wait times.

Alpine Haus is a charming German restaurant located in the heart of New Braunfels. As soon as you step inside, you feel the ambiance and coziness. The menu is packed with classic German dishes, from sausages and schnitzels to sauerkraut and spätzle. I had the Rinder Rouladen thinly cut steak stuffed with pickle, onion, bacon, and German mustard then smothered in traditional gravy. All served with potato dumplings or Spatzle and red cabbage. Overall, I highly recommend Alpine Haus for anyone looking for authentic German cuisine. The Rinder Rouladen was a standout dish, but I'm sure everything on the menu is equally delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service is friendly and attentive. If you're in the mood for some hearty and flavorful German food, Alpine Haus is definitely worth a visit.

We got a variety of dishes via takeout. It was nice to try something different. The portion sizes are large and could easily share with two people. The sausage with potatoes topped with gravy was delish. The desserts are also very tasty and a hit with the kids. If you are in the area and want to try German food or something different, give them a try.

Went here for a work lunch. We ordered all three appetizers and they were delicious. The service was outstanding. The meal was incredible, Jager Schnitzel, my favorite. Best German food I have ever had!

You have to get the fried Brie. Just look at these photos. So good. And the Jager Schnitzel was the absolute best. (Chicken) Unfortunately for us, we got there on a Sunday and they said they had a wild weekend and didn't have any deserts. So hopefully the next time we are in town we will get there a day earlier. I HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation. The place is pretty small inside and they were turning away people.

A quaint place with amazing service and food. Slightly upscale, but still approachable German cuisine. It was Saturday, so I don't know if they always have a Polka playing accordionist, but it was a nice surprise. They bring you a basket of marbled rye bread for the table. I had the Jaeger Sccnitzel with German potato salad and red cabbage. I also had Roasted Garlic soup that came with the meal as well. All of it excellent! I will be going back again to try more off the menu!

Phenomenal dinner, excellent customer service and best brats I’ve had in New Braunfels. Everything I tasted was made with love and heavenly: the sausage, veal schnitzel, sauerkraut, purple cabbage, potato dumpling. I asked and was given pickle slices that were out of this world. Try the sausage sampler, enjoy with a great bottle of wine. Grab a reservation and say hi to Steve!!

A German restaurant in New Braunfels. We went there for dinner and we actually had a big lunch so we weren't too hungry that day but we had a wonderful meal. We had to take all the food back, but we enjoyed it for lunch the next day. The fried brie cheese was truly amazing. My greatest regret was not trying their apple strudel, but that would be for another day.

Delicious start to my Saturday. What a fabulous place. Wonderful setting, great service. Delicious food. Plenty of wine and beer selections. Too many food options to choose from it made it hard to decide. We chose the fried Brie which was a delight especially with the rye bread and butter. I had the Schnitzel, veal with mushroom gravy and my husband opted for the Rinder Goulash.

It was a great experience for our first German food try! Definitely a different style of food than what we were used to! Prices are definitely on the high side.

Exceptionally friendly staff. And delicious food. First time having an authentic German meal. I grew up by a veal farm but never had it until eating here. Definitely would recommend and if I’m ever back in the area I will revisit.

What an amazing experience! From the decor to the staff to the food, this restaurant is 100% worth it. My wife lived in Germany for several years, and this is the most authentic German food that she has found in the States. The service was excellent - our server was incredibly knowledgeable about every dish on the menu (that we asked about), and was able to make excellent recommendations to us. The food was amazing - the portions were massive (which is great given the price, which I will talk about soon), and everything tasted freshly made for us. I highly recommend the sausage sampler appetizer. I ordered the zigeuner schnitzel with spatzle and sauerkraut (pictured). The place is proud of their food (on the pricey side), BUT it is worth every penny that you pay. You definitely have to make reservations. Enjoy!

Every single aspect of our dining experience was great. Amazing food, great beer selection, really nice atmosphere, and even a really good accordion player. We're new to town and my wife chose this as the place to go for her birthday dinner. We will most definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!!!

Great lunch experience at Alpine Haus. This was recommended by a customer of mine. My wife and I enjoyed the sausage platter, Jager schnitzel and the Ruben sandwich. All were delicious. I feel this is a place where I could be blindfolded and pick a menu item with my finger and love the random dish. Pleasant staff. Will return. Update… We have returned and had another fantastic experience. We started off with the almond crusted Brea. Absolutely delicious. I had the Rahm Jager Schnitzel. Best of both worlds. Love the atmosphere and music. Returned again to enjoy the almond crusted Brie. Delicious.

So charming inside! Delicious lunch and wonderful service. The soft pretzel is a must order! Haven’t been here in about 13 plus years, but it was still just the same for our lunch today.

AWESOME German Food. I lived in Germany for 2 years and have been back to Germany hundreds of times in the last 30+ years. This is the most authentic German Restaurant I have found in Texas, maybe in the whole United States. We had Jaeger Schnitzel Breaded Pork, Fried Potatoes, Sauerkraut, and Red Cabbage. My wife is half German and said the Sauerkraut was as good as her grandmother’s when she was a child. Some of my high school classmates have discovered The Alpine and have mini reunions with old friends. My HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

  • 4/5 Elizabeth E. 1 year ago on Google
Very pretty, nice and filling, pricey. For a German restaurant, the sausage platter was lacking, only one type of mustard was disappointing. Great beer and wine selection. Service was top notch.

The service was great! The restaurant seemed fairly busy but our food didn't take as long as I'd expect to come out. The mushroom soup was amazing! The best chicken Jager schnitzel I've ever had! The rinder goulash was perfect! Absolutely loved the whole experience including being able to dine in a beautiful historic building

This is the most authentic German food we've had in the area! The sausage plate and schnitzel are amazing. They have a great selection of German beer. On the weekends they have live music.

WUNDERBAR ERHABEN ‼️ Such a warm and welcoming place, everyone is friendly and attentive and the food is out of this world. I highly recommend the Schnitzel with Spätzle and a side of sauerkraut; it will transport you to other realms. The menu is fairly limited but that’s a good thing; do what your good at and do it better than anyone else. The place itself is in a historic building and is very cozy. The portions are pretty large so come hungry. Food – 5/5 Price – 5/5 Service – 5/5 Ambiance – 5/5

German food has flavor. This places proves that. Cannot say enough good. Great service, crew was delightful and helpful as we decided what to eat. Have not even much German but I will be from here on out. Just can't go wrong from appetizer, main course to dessert. A must go with your family while dinning in New Braunfels.

Absolutely splendid German cuisine and dining experience. Reminds me of meals I had in Heidelberg and Salzburg while studying abroad. Superb service, incredible food, and a lovely atmosphere. Try the goulash and salad!

It's hard to rate this as a German who also cooks her own German food. Let's start with the salads, they usually have a creamy sauce in Germany, they were still good but could've used a bit more dressing. Hubby had the Rahmschnitzel with fried potatoes. The potatoes were really good, I didn't try the Schnitzel but the gravy lacked of flavor. I had the Schweinebraten, which was really dry. In Germany the slices of meat are thicker and it has that yummy crackling crust on the side. It's usually served in a dark colored beer gravy. The potato dumplings were good and authentic. My daughter had the Schweinebraten as well with the Spätzle. The Spätzle were really good. A lot the red cabbage was on point. Our waiter was really cold to the point that it was uncomfortable. Then the bill came. Almost $100 for the 3 of us. 3 meals, 2 sweet tea and 2 beers. I was a bit shocked.
