Flavor: A+ Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A I'm so glad this place was recommended to me. I'm in San Antonio but it was undoubtedly worth the drive. Everything is so flavorful. The catfish is perfectly crispy but not overdone. I love being able to get a combo plate with fish and chicken. The onion rings were also top-notch. The beans and slaw are nothing special but it hardly matters with how good everything else is. Even arriving before 5:00 there was a long wait so be prepared to hang out a while. And wait for your food a while. But you'll soon forget about all that waiting when you take those first delicious bites.

I've been wanting to stop in for quite sometime. I finally made it. The fish tasted really good but the pieces were smaller than I expected. The onion rings were huge, great portion but needed to be fried a tad bit longer. The waitstaff was attentive. It's worth going back for.

I am disappointed none of the staff wore masks. Service and staff were excellent otherwise. The food is decent. I've never had fish tacos made with cornmeal batter. A little too crunchy. Think I'd prefer the grilled fish. Catfish was good. The seasoned rice wasn't very seasoned. Wish they'd just tell you to "pick two sides" instead of already chosen for you. Onion rings are the bomb!!! So good!!! Want to try the Outlaw burger if I ever go back.

We have been here multiple times and I must say, food never disappoints. Just went a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday at about 5:30PM and as always it was busy but not as bad as usual. We waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The Onion rings really are delicious. I’ve also had their gumbo, which is made a little different but it still taste great. This time around I had the Shrimp Trio plate with rice and green beans and it was by far the best dish I’ve had here. Very flavorful. Can’t wait to go back!

It was my first time at the restaurant. We were seated right away. The decor inside is a collection of things you would find in an antique store. They are so many things to look at. The food was good, the onion rings were amazing. I could have done without the beans and substituted with something else, but I didn't see where there was a selection of sides to choose from. They were out of the peach cobbler so we got the chocolate cake instead. It was good, just a little too much chocolate frosting, too sweet. Overall, it was a nice place to eat at.

Wow this place is AMAZING! Tower of onion rings the size of your face! Fish and chips, perfect. Everything has great flavor. Not overly expensive and staff is super friendly. Worth every penny

Expect to spend between $25 - $30 a person if you are going to have an appetizer, beverage and a dessert to split. Overall experience was worth it. Courteous, photo friendly spaces , and friendly service all around. A nice experience. Mashed potatoes are everything google reviews said they would be, and green beans were really tasty as well. All my kids enjoyed their food choices. It was served hot. And the mozzarella sticks were yummy , like Venezuelan style , a very light flour coating on outside - loved the ranch. One tip: if you’re like me and are hot natured , the 2nd and 3rd floor seating are not for you. The heat really rises and there is no real way to get around it. The 3rd floor is a small platform really, and you need to watch the last step as you reach the second floor landing. It was mid afternoon and I was beginning to feel the heat midway into the burger (even with the iced tea) as the fried appetizers plus nice hot food just raises your body temperature.

This was the first time my husband and I visited Clear Springs Restaurant. And it did Not disappoint, they are famous for their Onion Rings so we ordered the large . I also ordered the fried Catfish with coleslaw and beans. It was awesome and so was the service Ryland to our server Rachael.

We were in the mood for some fried catfish. Clear Springs Restaurant did not disappoint. We started with their “World Famous Onion Rings” they were delicious! The breading was tasty and most importantly crispy! The order in the picture was a small, and we still had leftovers. I give them a 4/5. I do wish the pieces were cut slightly thinner to avoid that tough onion bite. We paired it with their homemade ranch dressing, it was tasty, but not over powering. I ordered a small fried catfish plate as my entree; it comes with 4 pieces and 3 sides. The fish was amazing! The seasoning, which is advertised as slightly spicy, was perfect! Sides were: French fries, rice, and pinto beans. They were great, but the catfish is the star here. The tarter sauce, was thicker and had a good taste, definitely no overpowered flavors which is great as the seasoning on the fish does the work. I ordered their spiked lemonade and it was refreshing! (I ended up having 2) Justin was our server, he did great! He was speedy and attentive. Definitely recommend and will be back!

If you like some good home town southern food, this is the place. From fried chicken steak to fried cat fish. Don't forget to order the onion rings. But do not order the large unless you are at least 4 people.

It was our first time eating here, It was recommended by someone at Lowe’s. The onion rings were huge & delicious, I really loved the shrimp & mashed potatoes & hush puppies as well. (Wish they were alittle bigger) My husband thought everything tasted great. He also said the rice had a kick to it! Which he liked. lol.. Our child said it was pretty good as well!

Once you are here, you can tell you are visiting a historic land mark and they serve traditional food choices. A must visit if you are in Braunfels Tx. I ordered their famous fried catfish. It comes with filing sides. Must try: fried catfish. Next day: I ordered their famous onion rings and fried catfish. Onion rings are OMG RATED !! Real juicy onions!! Image I uploaded is a SMALL order. And it is a meal by itself. A must try: Onion rings !!!!

We've driven by this place a million times, and it's always packed. I've always been appendices about it because it is a seafood place and I'm not a fan of anything seafood. So, my spouse finally talks me into trying this place out. Thankfully, there wasn't a wait, and we were seated right away. There were a lot of seafood options, which wasn't a big surprise. I went for the chicken strips, and my spouse got the grilled shrimp. I truly had high hopes. I was pretty shocked at the amount of chicken that I had received. The corn was really good, the rice was not for me. It was overcooked and thankfully seasoned but was a bit spicy for me. The chicken was seasoned prefecture and was very juicy. Unfortunately, it tasted like seafood. I'm guessing everything is fried in the same oil, and if you don't like seafood, it is a problem. My spouse loved the grilled shrimp but also tasted the fish aftertaste on the chicken. I was not impressed. I understand you are a seafood restaurant, but chicken and non seafood items should be cooked in a separate fryer.

Clearsprings restaurant has plenty of parking and a good-sized waiting area, it's a great family-oriented restaurant, with a good atmosphere. The waitress was on point, constantly checking to see if we needed anything and refilling our drinks. All of the food ordered was delicious. The serving size was a good amount. We were not disappointed and will return.

So dang good!! Onion rings are the best I've ever had. No nonsense or frills, just good food & service. Will definitely be in our rotation.

The shrimp is the best I have ever eaten. Both the shrimp and catfish are seasoned and fried to perferction. The sides were all delicious . You should not pass this place by. I have eaten there many times and thru the years, it is always consistent. Oh, and the onion rings are amazing!

This restaurant is a total gem! I would have passed right by it - don't judge a book by its cover. The inside is super cool, and our waiter was so nice and always made sure we were taken care of. I really liked the fried pickles, and there was a spiked lemonade that was delicious.

Ordered curbside; a catfish plate and small onion ring. Staff seemed very nice. Catfish was very scrawny and cool to the touch. Beans were great and coleslaw was average. Onion rings were the best. Huge portion, warm, and tasty. Didn't notice until later, I paid $28 for those 2 items. Definitely not worth even half that price. Can't say anything about atmosphere since I didn't step inside.

Rachael is awesome! She's so attentive, has a great, friendly personality. We had the chicken fried chicken with great mashed potatoes and sweet corn; the large(8 piece) fried catfish with tasty coleslaw, beans and fries; we also started off with the Texas sized onion rings(so worth it) and even ordered a delicious looking bacon cheeseburger for later. Definitely worth heading out for lunch or dinner. If you like an adult beverage, try the "Cinnamon Toast", delicious

We came here for our one year anniversary. It was a Monday afternoon and I was surprised at how busy it was. Despite the crowds, we were seated in less than 5 minutes of arriving. Our service was great. We did not feel rushed but also felt our server hadnt forgotten us. The onion rings were the obvious choice for an appetizer and they lived up to their reputation....big, thick, and battered very well....the small order was almost too much for two people. I had the salmon over rice, everything was delicious. We ordered one banana pudding to share and although it was very good, the portion size was smaller compared to everything else we have received....that said, it was sufficient in respect to all the food we had just consumed prior. Over all, this is a lovely place, the atmosphere is a little loud but i feel that is to be expected at this type of establishment. We sat near a window overlooking the river and enjoyed our view and seeing the occasional tuber float by having a great time. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for some good food and time to kill.

We are here on Monday for lunch. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive. This is such a cute restaurant with an old time feel. The fried pickles were so good! My catfish was okay. The flavor was a bit bland for my tasting and the hush puppies were almost rock hard. Other than that, it was fine. The sweet tea had just the right amount of sweetness. 🙌🏽

The food was fantastic and some of the best we have had on our road trip. Everything on the menu was fair priced and everyone commented about how seemingly cheaply priced the tower of onion rings was despite not skimping on the flavor. I was hungry for chicken tenders and was not disappointed others around the table had chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and burgers. Lastly the wait was not terribly long and even accommodated a last minute addition of a few additional family members

Nice large restaurant. Plenty of seating. It’s a little bit off the highway but worth the short drive. Food was good. Little spicy for me in a New Orleans type of way. Service was fast and friendly. We would return for more.
