I can’t say anything about the hotel side of this place, we live locally so we have no reason to stay here. We used to love coming for the restaurant and craft beer. I’m not sure when the menu changed, but everything we were returning to enjoy was no longer available. What was on the menu was not enticing. And the three meals we ordered were not worth the price. For lack of better options, I got the club. I’m no connoisseur of club sandwiches, just an average diner, and that was the worst club I’ve had. Possibly the worse sandwich I’ve ordered from a restaurant. My husband did not like his burger, and none of us were terribly thrilled with the “adult” Mac for my daughter. We’re very disappointed. This restaurant went from being on point with their menu, to a place we will not be returning to. My only positive outcome is the service was mostly good. My only negative review there was that my husband had to go retrieve a high chair for my daughter when I think it was obvious it was necessary, she’s not even a year and a half old yet. And, let me also not that the server had already briefly visited our table 3 time before my husband just went to find one. I was trying to get her settled so I kept forgetting to ask for one.

It's cool and historic. If that's your jam, then do it. It's cool. From a comfort perspective: the rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are tinier, the beds are stiff, the standard rooms are conjoined with another with a door to another room that does about as much for blocking sound as a frog's whisper, no fridge/microwave. Staff are super nice and great. For me, the historical element isn't worth it. Just needed an equipped place to stay while I work in town. This isn't it.

Beautiful property, friendly and helpful staff, great location, and a piece of history. With a price comparable to the generic chain hotels on the outskirts of town, I can’t think of any reason to stay anyplace else! Free parking, as well, but you can ditch the car because the Faust is walking distance to all the good restaurants and shops of central New Braunfels. Also of note, although not fully ADA compliant, there is an elevator and a couple of rooms with no ledge or step. I highly recommend this hotel !

Came to be haunted but don’t worry, it’s not haunted and is a very comfortable stay for such an old hotel. The patio is a great place to get a drink and small eats even when you aren’t a guest. I must point out the coffee in the lobby for guests is delicious! They give you a little sleep baggie with earplugs, face masks and chamomile tea. Really nice touch. Staff is great and I really enjoyed sharing ghost stories with them!

The Faust Hotel is iconic and very well maintained. The bathrooms are small because of the time period in which it was built, but very nice! The bed…so comfortable!!! The location is ideal for a trip to New Braunfels. However, the service is the most amazing part of our journey. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff and service provided. I left my glasses behind and Michelle made sure she not only found them for me, but hand delivered them to UPS to ship them to me. Above and beyond! We will stay here anytime we are in this area.

I haven’t even spent the night here yet but am giving it a one based on my initial experience walking through the main lobby and what our room looks like. The lobby smells like a sewer, and the room is much, MUCH smaller than advertised and is shabby. The A/C unit is so incredibly loud, and the bathroom is tiny. They should really include pictures of the bathrooms on the website, however, that would probably deter at minimum 85% of people from staying there if they did. Everything is dark and there are stains on pretty much every surface of the inside of the property. $159 a night is a joke. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

It kind of sucked to be honest. Not really worth the price. Tiny room and even tinier bathroom it was the size of a small closet in fact it probably used to be a small closet. No fridge or microwave in the unit. And we booked a queen bed! You get better amenities at La Quinta or Hampton Inn. There's no breakfast? Not sure what's the deal. It says they were remodeling and they were but he rooms need to be remodeled or combined. Yeah you get the "historic" experience but its not worth it it was more of a historically bad experience. The staff was alright. Felt like I was a little lied to as I saw a perfectly decent room by the elevator, unless that's the king sized bed. Before you book ask to take a look at your room first. If they even let you. Also the only place this has is the walking distance to the food and shops around thats about it. Also I guess they advertise that the Faust is haunted which in turn may be true but don't get your hopes up. I do admit the door we tried wasn't opening and it was strangely stuck as if someone was holding it on the other side it was totally bizarre. But we were miserable after the drive and the week we had, so if it was a ghost it messed with us at the wrong, or perhaps the right time?

Enjoyed staying at the Faust Hotel. The staff was great, everyone was very friendly and helpful! Michelle was amazing! We would definitely stay there again! And not to be repeating myself...it was Michelle's warm and welcoming personality that won me over! The Hotel itself was pretty awesome and very clean! Thank you again Michelle for making us feel at home!👍🙂

This hotel has a lot of potential (needs some TLC). But the location and staff are great. A tremendous disappointment overall because of the room We always enjoy staying in local restored hotels and the Faust was one on the very low end of the scale. Except for the flooring, the room we stayed in appears to not have been updated since 1970 (being generous) . Most of the baseboards and molding are rotted underneath covered up paint. The bathroom has no window coverings over the large “semi frosted” windows (see picture). No privacy above the outside parking area!!! The room is very small, the few limited outlets were so old they would barely hold a plug in place to charge my phone. Appreciate the “old school” touch but the bathroom lacked much of any counter space. the units have window AC units so cannot close the curtains and have air flowing. The windows seem to be “original windows” and the room is not the least bit quiet from outdoor road noise. The room we stayed in was musty smelling. Yes, the location is great and is close to everything. The lobby is nice too. Cannot comment about the restaurant and bar since it was closed for remodeling.

I felt that the hotel was pricey and small and was disappointed the bar was closed during our stay. We chose this hotel because my friends blocked it for their wedding and we all stayed near each other (which was great). The location was pretty good (close to lots of things but very loud) and we were pretty excited to be in walking distance but didn't actually end up having much time to walk around much. There were only 2 free outlets in our room and they were in our tiny bathroom. There is very minimal counter space in the bathroom and the toilet in the bathroom does not have a cover which is gross in such a small space and also nerve wracking because of the narrow counter and general lack of space for keeping items in. Also the lobby smells cloyingly of axe body spray...

Location and history was the winner here. It is old school, we could hear almost every word from our next door guest, it was unusual and uncomfortable. Food and service at the restaurant was a 2 star. The staff was congregated together most of the time during our dinner and were very loud. We arrived at 5 pm and had a Chardonnay and Greek salad/ both were a 2 star and hubs had chicken fried steak and dark beer 3 star.

If I could give 10 stars for service I would. The customer service I received during my stay was incredible, and something you would never expect to see at any chain hotel. The staff could not do enough for me and I'm incredibly grateful to them. The room was also really clean and nice, for a reasonable price, and near plenty of things to do. Parking was also not an issue, there is a massive free public car park 1 minute walk away if their back yard is full.

The rooms are way too small to be comfortable for two people. However, if you like antiques and you appreciate quality fixtures, doors, table, chairs, etc. you will love the place as a whole. Right down to the ice machines....everything was well maintained and clean. The bed was well appointed and comfortable so when we got acclimated to the closed in space and the claustrophobic panic, it was quite nice.

Classic stay in the heart of NB. The location is great. Right across the street are some great walkable options. We had a nice time at the Oyster Bar for after dinner drinks. Then breakfast at Le Citron was amazing. The hotel itself is older so there are some elements that reflect that ie: very thin walls 😬. It's a great quaint stay with a lot of history so that's pretty cool. Parking was easy, check in was good... some other rowdy guests, but the coffee in the morning was pretty good.

The team behind Faust should set the sample for how hotel hospitality is done! The room I booked was left untouched by housekeeping and Taylor could not get a hold of the housekeeper. Totally understandable, but they made it beyond clear this was not up to their standard. Taylor, working the front desk at the time, not only offered me a drink n snack from the bar on her while I wait, but actually cleaned my room herself. I don’t think any other hotel would ever even offer a drink let alone clean it up! The whole bar staff and hotel staff made me feel beyond accommodated and welcomed in such a way I don’t see how I could stay or recommend staying anywhere else in New Braunfels!

Great location and walking distance to everything you need and stumble home! Great staff and history to the hotel. Met some travelers as well and sat on the patio late night drinking and talking! The best! Then made a stroll to the water! The best!

Haust Hotel is definitely the place to go!! My husband and I had a getaway and Faust didn't disappoint. Beautiful historic Hotel with wonderful service. I stayed in a standard room. It was small, but perfect for a couple. Beautiful place inside and out. Located right in the middle of historic downtown. We walked a mile away to float down the river. The float took a few hours and walk back was less than 15 minute. Will definitely go back soon. Thank you for the wonderful experience. I'll be definitely referring my friends and family!

If you love old architecture/decor, you will enjoy this place. Unless you're into the tiny-house movement, make sure you request a larger sized room. I was by myself, so I got a single sized room. It is about the size of a child's bedroom. The bathroom is a full bath crammed into a half bath. I am a little over 5'9 (a somewhat average size person), and kept bumping my elbow into the wall in the shower. I didn't mind it though. Just know if you are staying with someone, make sure you really really like them if you get a small room. You will also be able to hear your neighbors somewhat easily. The front desk people were nice, and the complimentary soaps were nice. ALSO, you are short walking distance to a lot of retail and food. I had a short walk to the Brauntex theatre which was also a nice experience. It's pretty awesome to go see a show and not mess with parking or driving! The Mexican restaurant next to it was really good(next to the attorneys that neighbor the hotel). The parking in the back is very exposed, so don't expect any shade if you are one who always looks for shaded parking. If you don't stay here, you should at least go inside and appreciate the awesomeness.

We really enjoyed this hotel for our friends & fam river tubing trip. Location is amazing. Lots of places to eat eat/shop all walking distance. So much charm & history to see. The hotel is undergoing renovations & can't wait to go back in cooler weather to see the results. The staff are hands down amazing from the bar staff & front desk ladies to Kenny taking care of the hotel. It may be haunted lol definitely some knocking on my door 4am & door handle jiggling 1am 🤷‍♀️but all that just adds to the fun!

We didn't stay at the hotel but we did stop in for live music and that was great! Good bar service. The drinks are okay but I feel like they're a little overpriced for what you get.

Yes, the hotel is charming and historic but that’s really all they have to offer. They don’t go above and beyond to give great customer service and attention to detail that you’d expect from a boutique hotel at the price point. For example, the building decided to install flag pole anchors right below our 2nd floor window at 7am. This required drilling into the brick wall so it was EXTREMELY LOUD. My husband I both had early meetings to get to, so we effectively lost our last hour of sleep and were exhausted. The installation took about an hour so it could have started at ANY other reasonable time when most guests would have been up and about already. We talked to front desk staff when we checked out and they told us how they didn’t know that was scheduled and they’d pass on our complaint. They offered no compensation and they apparently made no move to stop the installation when it started as they realized it would wake up their guests. We also felt misled by the suite photos that showed an open floor plan but found our room blocked off into a separate bedroom and sitting room. The only reason I gave two stars is because our room and the hotel was at least clean.

I was excited to go and experience the history of the hotel and enjoyed my experience with my fiancé. Cody and Taylor were the best front desk service I could ask for as they went above a beyond to accommodate our stay. The outdoor bar service Trent and Tyler were great as well as the live music was amazing definitely a memorable weekend that I would recommend…

I get it, it’s an old hotel with some history. But, that is no excuse for not upgrading basics in the rooms. I can live with a window a/c, but the windows are barely transparent. No water pressure. Decor looks like Walmart purchased. Poorly applied touch-up throughout is many shades away from color scheme. Overall, ugly. Not the quaint historic ‘boutique’ hotel we were anticipating.

Wow! We were walking around downtown NB and have always wanted to stop in and see the place. Stunning inside with lots of history. You can actually "smell" the age of the place. When we have more time, we will have to stay. The rooms from the photos look cozy. I would rather stay in a place like this then a chain. While I was taking photos, the staff was super friendly. We will have to come back and stay for a few days. There's are bar downstairs and looks like you can also eat there. If you don't want to eat there, you can walk to half a dozen restaurants nearby. Recommend.

Just spent New Years Eve 2022 at the Faust Hotel and our stay couldn’t have gone any better! We did get lucky with finding a rare parking spot. Checkin was friendly and quick. Our room was clean, the mattress very comfortable and the linens of high quality. We spent a fantastic 7 hours on the gorgeous front patio sipping on quality cocktails and dancing. At one point some folks from our party ordered takeout from the restaurant and brought it to the patio but I noshed on their tasty charcuterie board. The staff really went out of their way to accommodate our requests!! We live only 3 miles away but are grateful we took advantage of their NYE special and will definitely be back!

Location, location, location!! Great area for dining and entertainment. The king-size bed was comfortable and sheets clean. It is an older hotel and retro fitted for modern amenities. Therefore there is a lack of electrical plugs. I had to charge my phone, overnight, in the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was good but quickly learned if you hear the room next door flush their toilet you better move away from the water in your shower. The temperature of the water will change. The room had a window unit to cool the room. There was not a way to use the dark-out curtains without also covering the window unit AC. If you like a cool dark room to sleep you have to choice one or the other. The lighting above the bathroom sink is dim. Difficult to find a well lit spot to shave or, for my wife, to apply her makeup. But the location is great!

Positives first…love the restaurant and the ambiance. Very nice room but couldn’t get in because the locks don’t work, they pride themselves on the old way which was cool…they just didn’t work. The key was great but I sat outside our room for 30 minutes trying to turn it one way and then another, finally had to ask for help which took awhile. When I asked how the key works he said it was tricky and could hardly figure it out himself. Honestly felt bad for the guy but he got the door open thankfully. The TV channel list was not accurate and the TV didn’t always work to switch channels. Not sure we will be back after the troubles with the key.

Have been staying here for over 35 years, whenever we visit NB. Enjoyed our recent 2-night, 2 room stay. Rooms were comfy, including the beds, pillows & linens. Staff was super friendly & helpful (in the Pub, also). Historic Hotel that is super well located w/easy parking & an on-site Pub. Yes it’s age shows here & there, but it’s charm makes up for it.

We attended a wonderful wedding at the FAUST HOTEL. We loved its old world charm. You feel like you’re stepping back into the elegance of the 1800s. It is so centrally located to restaurants, pubs and bakeries. Don’t miss the Faust pub. The staff is absolutely amazing.

Fun place to have a drink and a bite to eat. Historical building and they brew some of their own beers. This is the Tuscan sandwich, it was good...

I liked the idea of the place and for the $$$ I was expecting so much more. I had to put a pillow behind the headboard because any movement in the bed would cause it to hit the wall. The mattress was hard and bed frame was cheap. The caulking in the bathroom was cracking and peeling, the toilet was loose from the floor and would shift the the right when you sat down. The bathroom vanity lights had two different lamps or glass covers and finally the bathtub was partially clogged causing standing water. I was very disappointed!!!!

My husband and I came down to NB for one night, and I booked this hotel.... Before I saw that it was a historical hotel or that it was haunted, I chose it specifically because of how close it was to everything(walking distance). This was the ONLY thing that was good about the hotel. After seeing pictures of the type of room I booked versus what we got, I really think they gave us a standard, single room versus the Queen size room which means we paid more than we should have, or got a smaller room than what was paid for. I already read the reviews so I was already aware of how small the rooms were, but this room was smaller than what it was advertised for(queen size)..... When we went to tug the blankets down for the night the sheet was full of stains! Dark wet stains, we ended up sleeping on top of the comforter and was afraid there were bed bugs. The bed however was really comfy, I will give them that...The AC unit was so loud, the walls were paper thin and you can hear everything inside and out. We did not sleep at all that night. Also if those that are afraid to stay here due to the "Hauntings" I think its safe to say that all of that is blown out of proportion and that this hotel is hyped up more than it should be- nothing happened at all. There was a weird smell of the lobby, but it could just be normal. The bar/restaurant was Lowkey and not to packed, probably because it was late at night. The hotel staff that greeted us was not all that pleasant. Every question I asked her, the answer was "I do not know/I am not sure" whether is was information about the hotel or the town. You would think someone working for a hotel notoriously known for its history would know something.... This hotel is not worth the $180 is cost to stay for one night. I do believe this will be a one and done type stay and we will be staying elsewhere

In order to post my pics FB is making me leave a rating, but I can't really give a rating on the hotel experience as we only stopped in at the hotel pub to have a flight of beer (which were ok but not great). Pub service was very good though. The hotel exterior could really use some love and would greatly benefit from some professional landscaping. Interior is well preserved and worth the stop! (Architecture is my thing.)
