I’ve stayed here several years and this will be my last. I’m going this year because it’s to late for our group of 10 to find an available place on the river for our annual vacation. For years when our group left in August we made our reservation for the following year. Since trying to confirm our August 2021 reservation starting in October 2020 people in our group have experienced the following: 1) one cabin received an email in late 2020 confirming her cabin and dates. When she called to pay her deposit in early 2021, she was told her reservation wasn’t for the dates on the email and Heidelberg refused to honor the reservation email they sent her. 2) Heidelberg called the other 2 rooms in early 2021 in our group saying if we changed our dates to match our friends dates that were changed for her, they’d upgrade our rooms to compensate for all of us having to change our vacation days. We took the upgrade. 3) after receiving the upgrade 2 months later in April 2021, I get an email and phone call saying someone else wants the cabin I’m in so I no longer can have my upgraded room and they won’t honor my original room number reservation! To correct this they give me a free night. 4) the last straw came with an email in June 2021 saying they increased the price on my room! Yes to compensate themselves for all their incompetence Heidelberg raised my room rate 2 months before I’m supposed to be there and over 4 months after I made my initial deposit to secure a reservation. I don’t know if there’s been a management change or an ownership change but this used to be a nice place to stay. Since October 2020 I’ve made reservation for Heidelberg, Rome Italy, 2 lake house cabins, a hotel in Dallas, and 2 Galveston beach house. My Heidelberg reservation is the ONLY one that’s been a horrible experience or experienced changes from what I originally received a confirmation for. Don’t try staying here!

They need a new Manager, she is extremely rude. I rate her a 1 out of 5. I walked in about 2:00 and she said "why are you here so early, check-in is not until 4:00! I was told the day before that I could check in early if my room was ready, IT WAS READY but that didn't happen. It was almost 4:00 before I checked in. The property is on the Comal River so that is great. I went to take a shower and the knob was broke and fell in the tub. Couldn't shower until the owner fixed it which he did. They have blinds on the windows which are broke so at night people can see in and the curtains have to be manually closed because they are broke and hang at different lengths. This Manager, (Michelle I think) people were talking about her and said they would not come back again next year unless she was gone and these are people that have come for more than 20 years! Skuttle but around the pool was she was rude to a lot more people than just me. There are two other girls in the office who were great and the man that took care of the people each morning was delightful. Everyone was super friendly except the manager. WHEN WE COULDN'T CHECK IN WE WALKED 1 BLOCK DOWN TO OUR FRIENDS CONDO AND VISITED WITH THEM FOR 1 HOUR BEFORE WE CAME BACK SO WE WERE NOT SITTING ON THE PORCH

Rooms were significantly dated. Fridge leaked everywhere. Beds were super uncomfortable. Only 2 pillows a bed and they weren't all that great. Staff was not overly friendly. Pool was nice and access to the river was convenient. The game room was a joke. This is not glamping!! Don't fool yourself. Best part of the stay was seeing the deer and hand feeding them.

Good and bad. The bad. The cabins are outdated and have paper thin walls. The mattress was terrible. We had a downstairs two bedroom. The people above us had about 20 people piled in. I honestly thought they would fall through on us. You can hear every single word they spoke, move they made, and the kids....wow....no courtesy for the people below. Lots of running and jumping. I’m assuming they were jumping off the beds. How they had room to move that much, I have no idea with how small the space is. My husband had to walk upstairs and ask them to quiet down....after midnight. So about 2am it got quiet enough to fall asleep. Second night, it was quiet until they came back in around 11pm and it started all over again. My husband had to be up at 445am to fly out to work so not much sleep. The good. The scenery is beautiful. The pool is nice and you don’t get bothered to get out at 8pm like a lot of hotels. There’s a game room and the canoes and paddle boats are fun. You pay 3 dollars a life jacket to use them for 30mins....not bad. The river is a small little area and was not full at all so you have space to move around without everyone on top of you. There’s a little fire pit area with swings. We made s’mores. It’s secluded and the staff were very friendly.

Best vacation ever! We absolutely loved this place. Can’t wait to come back next year. Perfect for kids and adults. From the deer to Kayaking and fishing we enjoyed ever second.

This was my first time going with my family and it was fun for the first two days, and then the manager screamed at me for me to close the door while I was trying to hold the door open for my child. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was very confrontational saying that we don’t pay for the electric bill and we were letting all the A/C out. It will be our last time going. I will say to check out other place before setting your mind on this place, have a great stay for your money’s worth especially The Summit cabins it’s a very nice location too and way better rooms that aren’t falling apart and rusty!

There is a new Manager ever since then it has gone downhill. They made my daughter cry in the game room. It’s very sad because we truly loved this place. We will not be coming back after this altercation, we have been going here for at least 18 years and after they made my daughter cry and accused her of something she didn’t do we told them we will not be coming back. My daughter was carrying three cups of dip and dots and she dropped them on the counter because they were falling out of her hand. She asked them the price and they ignored her after the third time they finally told her the price in a rude manner. She then left and went back to play games. After she was holding the door for our friends little girl so she could talk to her mom inside the game room. The manager then yelled at her to close the door, my daughter replied “oh she’s just waiting for her daughter to come inside” The managers response was “I have had enough of you and you need to leave” than she supposedly claimed that my daughter was throwing ice cream and cash at her employees, when in reality she was just asking for the price and setting the ice cream on the counter. The altercation escalated and the manager renounced what she said saying that she never said “ You threw ice cream and cash at my employees” when our whole family heard her say those words. Our stay at Heidelberg Lodge was just horrible because we spent around 3000 dollars just to be treated with ill hospitality. I don’t recommend staying here, save your money.

Management is terrible. Family has been going for over 60 yrs, updates to rooms are minimal and cleanliness is minimal. Manager is ill equipped, has poor people skills and lacks any sort of professional skills for the position. Surprised this place passes inspection. The only thing this place has going for it is the river location.

Really great place to vacation with family! We absolutely love it! The manager and staff are awesome and so helpful. I like that they follow the rules and will address any problems there are. We will be back for sure !

This looks lace was trash. The cabinets were peeling and we almost fell through the toilet. The place needs a major upgrade before falling to the ground! We also brought our service and the owners told us we could not have her. Then they both screaming in my face ! Inches from my nose screaming . Very unprofessional . We got kicked out on our vacation, She tried to charge me for the days we didn’t stay. I’m glad I gave her a card that was maxed. We ll NEVER be back!

We have enjoyed going to Heidelberg Lodges for the past 20 years. It has always been a wonderful family vacation for us. This will be the last time we ever give this place our business. The new manager might be the rudest person I have ever encountered. She had my daughter in literal tears shouting at her. We spent at least $3k for Thursday thru Sunday and were treated terribly from the moment we arrived. The icing on the cake was the manager demanding my daughter leave the game room because she was holding the door open for a little 2 year old to enter. We spent easily $200 in said game room and she called my daughter entitled. Entitled to a good time? She should have been. The facility itself has gone way downhill. There was literal duct tape holding parts of our room together, we rented both top and bottom units. The toilet would not flush at times and so many rusted items as well. We have always overlooked the rustic atmosphere as we consider it a glamping, fun, family experience but after this we we’ll never give them another dollar. Zero hospitality.

This has been a favorite vacation spot for our extended family and friend group for many years but unfortunately this trip was not the same. The cabins were never anything great but we loved the set-up of the pool, river and game room so we overlooked the fact that we were paying 5-star pricing for 1-star accommodations. At this point, the cabins are becoming hazardous. They are in need of major repair and maintenance. There is duct tape and shoddy repairs throughout the place. The manager is extremely rude and acts as if the guests are a nuisance and that trickles down to the staff. The staff used to be friendly and welcoming and even remember us by name because we have been going there for so long. We have always been courteous guests that believe in cleaning up after ourselves and trying to make things even better than they were found and had no issues during any other stay over the years. We were talked to horribly by the manager over something so minor. Several other guests that weren't in our party commented on her attitude towards guests as well. Zero hospitality skills. I am saddened to say that we will be looking for a new place to stay in New Braunfels to start making memories.

Love this place! Have gone multiple times and it’s amazing each time!! I love the location of the place, the people and the staff! Also love how there are rules in place so there aren’t hooligans running around acting all crazy. The staff and management makes sure that people do follow the rules (which the rules are super simple and people like to argue with the rules) they’re were some other guests who were there while we were there and they kept making hide scenes over nothing. But other than that the whole stay was overall amazing! Everyone was super kind and helpful! We’re definitely coming back!

Quiet, you can hear the owls at night. But this was when snow-birds were staying there.

Stayed on Mothers Day weekend, the property is very nice. The beds were comfortable, we had a full size kitchen that came in very handy. We had a great time at the pool and barbequing. There are plenty of picnic tables and pits for everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return and will recommend to my friends and family.

The bathroom is to small and the beds are very uncomfortable and if you have an upstairs you have to sit at the dining room table to watch TV and that's very uncomfortable...

Make a payment over the phone asked for my email don’t even send the receipt to my email sent out to another person in a whole other cabin. The cabins are so out of date need to be remodeled badly. Tv is 30 plus years old seriously it’s 2022 people. We never can get a downstairs for 4-5 night stay because they rather hold for a big family group for 2-3 nights stay.

Rooms are comfortable but bathrooms are very cramped, had to sit side-saddle or feet-in-shower to use the toilet. Cable TV and wifi are good. Pools are very nice too.

Great place for large groups! Less than a mile from Schlitterbahn and in a quiet area of New Braunfels. Woke up to deer all around. Great staff as well

They have a kitchenette with zero kitchen accessories except to ice trays and an ice bucket. The rooms are fine but the staff could use some education. If they would rent a cornhole set or some kind of activity and put some more Lighting on the parking lot they could make some money there. Used to really enjoy the ping pong table but it's gone. 30 or $35 for a ball cap with your name on it, seriously. Always strange to me how people pay people so they can advertise for them for free. Anyway we enjoyed ourselves and we'll be back and the swimming pool as well kept and fantastic.

We love this place. The location, pool, grounds are all great! The cabins are old and you can hear everything that happens above you. And there is absolutely no items in the kitchen for cooking so bringing everything you might possibly need. Other than that it is great!
