Fabulous hotel set in the wonderful village of Lyndhurst. Rooms are comfortable and very warm which, during hot summer evenings, isn't so great. No air-conditioning as it is a very old building so windows will need to be wide open. Unfortunately, it's a noisy hotel with people returning late into the night and, with thin walls and floors, every stomp and chat is heard. Dinner was very nice here as was breakfast and the staff are very attentive (Otto, Charlie and Lucy). Lots of parking spaces to be had but lots to walk to including the New Forest, which is along the road, with New Forest ponies to greet you. Also, the hotel is opposite a church where Alice Liddel (Mrs Reginald Hargreaves) is buried -- she is the Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Lyndhurst has many tea rooms, restaurants, cafes and shops to wander round. Besides the very noisy environment, the hotel is lovely and warrants a visit.

Weekend stay over a bank holiday. My overall impression is that it's unjustifiably expensive. Accommodation wise it's nothing special, our room ('snug') definitely was snug. It was clean and decently comfortable. Food is very good, but again overpriced considering there are many options in the town, for which it's perfectly sited. I wasn't expecting a buffet breakfast, but at least you can fill up. Bar service is very slow. Staff were very good.

Dinner Review: Fine dining experience. We went there for dinner and every single dish was delicious, from starters to desserts. The waiters were polite and friendly, and they were kind enough to let us bring our dog with us, so we sat in the library. The atmosphere and decor were brilliant. I highly recommend it & it was definitely value for money.

We have just returned from our third pre-Xmas stay with our good friends of over 30 years. We enjoyed good food, comfortable bedrooms and great service. The hotel is excellently located in Lyndhurst in the heart of the New Forest. We are Strictly Come Dancing fans and the 2023 final co-incided with our stay. The staff pulled out all the stops so we could watch it in the Library. They couldn’t do enough for us. Thanks- we look forward to seeing you next year 😀

Characterful hotel, perfectly located in centre of Lyndhurst, in the heart of the New Forest. Rooms are pleasantly decorated with nice furnishings. No air con, so challenging on a hot day, they do provide fans. Location on high street means it's very handy for shops and restaurants, but the road is very busy. We had a room at the rear of the hotel and noise wise it wasn't too bad, but at the front it could be annoying. Restaurant serves good food, not sure I'd put it at two AA rosettes (probably one), with good menu selection. Wine menu has a good range and sensibly priced. Decent wine by the glass selection, too. Oversll hotel service is very good, though we did wait 20 minutes to order our food at dinner, and only then by prompting the serving staff.

Recently went to the hotel with my partner and 6 month old. Staff were absolutely excellent! Made sure we had a room on first floor easy to get to/from with little one. Staff also made sure there was a high chair for us waiting at every meal. Would definitely recommend for anyone to try! Also location right in the heart of the forest close drive to most sites.

Always loved this building. Lovely inside. Open to non-resident's. Staff friendly and welcoming. Sat in the bar and was nice atmosphere. They do high tea which looked nice. There is plenty of seating inside and parking. It is a lovely old building and still nice old features inside. This is situated opposite the church in Lyndhurst and nice walk to there. Prices are as expected which isn't a problem. Going to stay there next time. Definitely recommend

Love love love the place Room was spacious and very warm which was very welcome when we had been out in the cold and rain. Location is fantastic very central to everything we wanted to do...just needed to get our head around the one way system Only eat breakfast which was lovely and my partner absolutely loved the mushrooms in the morning. Only had a drink was a little on the expensive side to compare with the many pubs within a few minutes walk of the hotel Would definitely stay again when we come back to the new forest

Large 18th century hotel, which retains much of its original character. The hotel is conveniently situated in the centre of Lyndhurst and is a great location for exploring the rest of the New Forest. The hotel has free parking to the rear. Rooms are on the upper floors with stair access only. Rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable and well presented. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.

We enjoyed our stay at The Crown. The location in the heart of Lyndhurst is excellent and the hotel is in great condition with a wealth of character and history. The staff are helpful and most friendly. There are cosy lounges to enjoy and a nice lawn garden if the sun is shining. There is also a good size free car park. Service was a little slow at dinner, however, the food was very good. During a busy period on our second morning at breakfast the hot buffet was depleted and took some time to restock, I gave up waiting which probably did me a favour saving a few calories! Also, something to be aware of, the credit card you guarantee the booking with will be debited 2 days in advance of arrival for the full cost of your stay. As a result you can not pay cash or use an alternative card at check out to pay for your stay. All a bit Premier Inn and rather unnecessary! All in all, a pleasant stay and we will no doubt visit again in the future.

A very nice hotel in a very busy location. Classic room average hotel size, a bit too warm and got the smells from the kitchen. A small fan was provided. Good bathroom . All well presented and clean. Good location for New Forest. Staff friendly and approachable. Breakfast was acceptable but not outstanding. Only had one evening meal and that was OK .

We stayed for 2 nights & we love this beautiful hotel. So welcoming. The service & food are excellent. So we are returning in October for a weekend for my husband 60th. Many more visits to follow. The Hartley Family.

Thank you for having us. We had a comfortable stay. Attentive service, the library had a great atmosphere. Shout out to Andrew and the rest of the team for giving us a pleasant experience. Lovely hotel in the New Forest.

We stayed for 2 nights with our dog and have to report that it was a very warm welcome, possibly the warmest I have ever had. Dogs aren't allowed in the dinning area or bar area but it is fine as there are other areas where they are. I wish the breakfast was a bit later 9.30am in the week, but I guess for most people they get up earlier. A negative was our son's sofa bed, very uncomfortable. However that won't affect many people so don't let that comment put you off. The feel of the hotel is like a country manor house, lovely inside, but in town, so you can ditch the car if you want as everything on your doorstep including the Forest. Overall a lovely hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Great location for exploring the New Forest and being accessible to the amenities of the town. A nice hotel with very helpful staff. Breakfast was ok but not great. Weirdly steamed black pudding. We didn't fancy the dinner menu so didn't try this. 😳 Our room was ok but very dark and felt a little claustrophobic because of this. I don't think they have air conditioning so I imagine it would be quite oppressive in the heat of summer. My description sounds worse than it was. It was nice enough for a pleasant weekend in the New Forest.

I had a lovely stay. Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was nice and clean and there was a great range of drinks and toiletries in the room. We had cocktails which were served to us out in the sunny garden. The breakfast was Fabulous. We came down for breakfast around 9 and there was everything you could want as (the kitchen was very attentive in refilling) I had a full English and some pastries. You could definitely tell the staff cared about the service they were delivering.

We had a five day break in Lyndhurst staying at the Crown Manor and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we arrived a little early for check-in but were warmly greeted by Peter, even though the room was not quite ready for us, our luggage was taken up to our room. The room (a Classic type) was lovely, it was spacious, clean, comfortable and had a delightful view over the courtyard garden. We dined in the restaurant on two evenings, the food was fantastic and the service impeccable (special mentions to Charlie, Evie and Magdalena - and the GM Andrew). The hotel is in a great location and Lyndhurst has plenty to offer despite it being quite small, we enjoyed cycling in the Forest on hire bikes (E-Bikes at our age) the three open-top tour bus routes (two of which you pick up in Lyndhurst) and of course tried out the pubs. One of the main highlights was returning to the Crown early evening after a busy day to enjoy cocktails in the beautiful courtyard garden watching the sun go down - absolutely delightful. A huge thank you to all the staff at the Crown for making us feel so welcome...and for having a laugh with us - we will be back. x

Excellent food, it's fine dining so portions are not huge but a good size. The service is good with lots of staff from the hotel available. The restaurant itself is classy, set on the ground floor of the hotel so you can see the church opposite. The building is historic, and the restaurant is well decorated with the Gothic architecture visible but the interior is decorated in modern style. Good for a romantic dinner, and I would recommend

A very nice hotel directly on the high street, with good parking and great access to the village high street. The bar is well stocked, and the restaurant has an excellent menu. The rooms are well equipped being restocked daily with tea, coffee and biscuits. I have only given 4 stars for the service because we were refused access to the dining room one evening, with the excuse that the kitchen only cooks for the tables booked. With the number of items on the menu this seemed like a brush off. As this trip was for our wedding anniversary and this was our day we felt quite perturbed by the reaction of the maitre'd. This meant we had to find an alternative place to eat at short notice.

Stayed here two nights during October half term. It's a beautiful historic hotel right at the top of Lyndhurst high street. There is plenty of car parking for guests at the rear of the hotel. Our rooms, classic and snug, were well presented and comfortable with nice bathrooms. A buffet breakfast was included with a selection of continental pastries, cold meats, fruit, cereals and traditional full English fare. Quality was good. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Just one slight negative to be aware of is that the rooms facing the high street can be noisy due to the traffic (it starts early) and the enthusiastic occasional bell ringing from St. Michael's church directly across the road. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay.🙂

Lovely stay during the heatwave. Managed to swap rooms to an air conditioned one after the first night. Staff wonderfully helpful but not geared up for the hot weather. Hardly any windows were open to bring in a through draft consequently all the public rooms and corridors were stiflingly hot. There wasn't a fan in sight and the staff were struggling. The lovely little garden offered a little respite from the heat in the evenings. The hotel doesn't widely advertise the air- conditioning that's in some of the rooms so be aware they are there for the asking. The front rooms are not at all noisy. Good and service is extremely good but there arequite a few good restaurants in the village so you are a bit spoiled for choice.

Stayed for two nights with two children. The kids both had a camp bed type bed that they can easily bring in and out and they both seemed pretty comfortable. Our bed was huge and both slept really well even though we were on the road side of the hotel. I thought it would have been a lot noisier as we were only on the first floor. We’d eaten here before and were impressed. Had dinner here on our first night and food was excellent. Really wonderful staff here throughout our stay. Always able to park. Breakfast was really good. Hot buffet, fresh bread, yoghurt with fruit salad and fruit purées, cereals and pastries. Lovely dining rooms.

Why did I stay in the over priced Airbnb but not here? Very friendly staff made me happy. We visited the beach to watch sunset thanks to the recommendation from the reception. The restaurant is probably the best in the area, some special dishes I’ve never had in other places like the lamb rump seasoned with cumin. The breakfast also had some of the best hash brown.

Had a wonderful stay at The Crown Manor House, we were a family of four and stayed in the suite which was very spacious, clean and well looked after. Food in the restaurant was delicious with a fantastic kids menu, we had a lovely waitress called Charlie who looked after us. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend.

Simply perfect. We stayed for a long weekend. It's in a great location, the grounds & building are stunning and the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Special mention to Lucy. She's so good at her job and it felt like seeing an old friend every time I saw her. I would 100% stay here again!

Impeccably clean, friendly staff and a sooo comfortable bed. We got help with our cases which was a godsend. TV too small for the room but otherwise 💯 per cent I would recommend this hotel. Lots of history in the building, set in a beautiful small town. Didn't have dinner .. fully booked sadly, but the breakfast was superb. .
