There is a gift shop, small museum and cafe. On arrival asked to use the hand sanitiser that they provide. The gift shop has many souvenirs if you come on holiday (like I did) and all were reasonably priced. Museum was very good to learn about the local history. Did not order anything from the cafe but looked clean and tidy.

I am grateful for the informative factoids about the ancient ways off the New Forest commoners which are imparted via lots of excellent and interactive displays.

Wonderful place to visit. Great little gift shop and cafe. The staff were wonderful and helpful also. The museum was particularly enjoyable, our 8,6 &4 year old loved it. You have to try and slow them down a bit so they don’t plough through it in 5 mins but if you stop to read everything then it takes a while. Definitely worth popping in.

A free museum with good photo opportunities, it's also a transit stop equipped with toilets, when changing the New Forest sightseeing buses.

Really informative museum with interesting history for both locals and tourists. The gift shop has some lovely gifts, maps and books. Cafe was nice a bit pricey but so is everywhere else in lyndhurst. Given the low cost of the museum I felt it was fair. It was clean and the service was good

What a fantastic little hub in the heart of the forest! Plenty to look at and free to go in. You can donate money through an NFC system, too. The shop is really lovely with some wonderful things for absolutely everyone and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Reading previous reviews on "scary" displays, I must admit this museum highlights the HISTORY of the new forest. It is realistic to what the past was and if some people find that offensive or scary I think a blindfold in those areas may help. Just don't walk the wrong way or the scary man with an axe may chase you! 🤣

Interesting and informative learnt we learned lots about the nature and people who lived there. The embroidery on the first floor is amazing. Handy to visit with the public car park adjacent and public conveniences next door. Also great that it is dog friendly.

Met my cousin for a catch up at the cafe at the visitors centre. Had soup and a sandwich, both delicious, the soup in particular. Bought cake to take away - delicious! I believe they're homemade. Fantastic for a cheap and cheerful place to relax for an hour or so. Right off the gift shop.

Lovely museum with interesting exibits, it was free which provided an excellent opportunity for my children to learn, however, we were very disappointed to learn that the horses pictured were not real, but statues. This scared them a little, especially the scary man with the axe! We liked sorting animal droppings to tracks, however, we’re sad that the tree the activity was in was not real, but fake. Beautiful cafe.

Highly recommend the cafe - the staff are all friendly and helpful, the sandwiches are made fresh and are really delicious, our special thanks to the lady who makes them so well.

Visited the centre as part of a Camp with a Cub Scout Group from Eastleigh. We arranged for a education session with the centre and was absolutely amazed with the effort and dedication from all of the staff who supported us with all aspects of our visit (in particular Hannah, Hayley and Mel). The session was very informative, interactive and engaging and was aimed and planned perfectly for the age range and was suitable for those young people with SEN. We highly recommend this to any one who was thinking of doing the same with other youth, school or education groups.

Wow, lemon drizzle outstanding and proper good tasting coffee...not the milky wishy wasn't stuff from the usual places. Lovely furniture, I can't fault it, I've tried...

A nice, compact museum that gave an overview of the history of the New Forest, dating back many hundreds of years, detailing land right traditions and suchlike, and a feel for the contemporary lifestyles of people living in the area. We also stopped at the cafe for a coffee and cake - the lattes were large and creamy, with the beans clearly being of high quality, and the cake was an equal match. The best we had in the New Forest during our stay.

Despite the rain and wind, it was a lovely visit. Food was excellent at the cafe and reasonably priced. All in all the adults and children had a good visit.

Wonderful place to visit with lots of interesting history and a fantastic little coffee shop. Conveniently located in the town car park so if you visit Lyndhurst this is definitely worth a look.

Only popped in to look around the shop. Lovely little shop with a variety of things on offer as was as a cafe. Counter staff were brilliant and great with my daughter when she was buying a magnet!

Very interesting, looked at the art display and bought some items from the shop. Had to use the toilets before driving home and they were disgusting, does no one check them during the day? No toilet paper, faces on the floor and no soap in the automatic wash basins! I'm not the only one to comment on this as the lady next to me felt the same!! Clean up your act New Forest Council. It's not even the holiday season yet lots of coaches visiting today.

We were too late to visit the museum but the cafe had great service, lovely coffee, tea, flapjacks, and scones at reasonable prices.

Lovely information centre in a prime location adjacent to the large, but chargeable car park. There is a tourist information centre, a gift shop that has lots of lovely gifts & informative books to purchase, a local crafts exhibition, plus a free museum to gain so much knowledge from about this very historic area of the New Forest & surrounding areas, the staff could be happier, but overall a wonderful experience!

Lovely little museum very interesting, nice shop with lots if reasonably priced trinkets and a really lovely coffee shop on site. The toilets were very clean.

Really fascinating visitor centre with a museum free of entry and really worth a good look around. Also a well stocked gift shop and cafe on site too as well as tourist information. Conveniently located by the bus stop and near the centre of Lyndhurst so definitely worth visiting if you want to find out more about the history of the New Forest!

👍👍 What a lovely way to spend some time and consume some excellent food. With plenty of tables outside and an indoor area too it is great place to sample excellent cakes like the Dorset Apple Cake and a wonderful Giant Meringue & Fruit.
