Decided upon this place based on reviews, and it was outside of the influence of major chains. It's an "Order-At-The-Counter" two local people operation with enough seating for (maybe) 20 people. Most of the clientele arriving during our meal were pick up orders.....but there are very limited places to eat in the area. The prices were pretty out of range but probably reflects the overhead carried by the small restaurant. The menu & offerings are somewhat limited.....if you're looking for a straightforward eggs & bacon place, this likely won't work. That said, the breakfast sandwich was tasty. Unfortunately, the home fried potatoes were seasoned with (likely) Jamaican jerk seasoning, which really isn't necessary, given potatoes are an extremely local crop. Coffee was okay.....literally middle-of-the-road. The decor likely reflects the surfing culture in the area...and we did pass by a few local areas that would be surfable. Frankly, the 4.7 overall score is somewhat misunderstood from this couple.

Several vegan options, including a sweet. We had a healthful summer nourish bowl and a Mediterranean veggie wrap, and picked up some vegan pesto to take away. A great stop to fuel up before or after surfing.

Excellent coffee & tea. BLT was absolutely scrumptious. Freshly cooked Bacon One step to enter premises but they have a ramp which they will gladly get for you if you ask

For the price, I expected better. After 45 min, the potatoes came out cold and tasted off. The rest was decent. Maybe staffing issues today. We may be back for a coffee if passing by, but not for food.

Definitely worth a drive out to check out. There's a small patio out front and back along with indoor seating. It's a charming little spot. Fish cakes were tasty!

This is a great little place on the Eastern Shore. If you're out for a drive to Lawrencetown Beach, definitely continue on to the Rose and Rooster for brunch or even just a coffee and a treat. The atmosphere is bright, that staff is great and the coffee is always fresh. And OMG the bread. If they have Nova Scotia brown bread, you have to get it! Melts in your mouth. Everything is local from bacon to the bread. And when you are here you feel like you are part of the community.

We had an impromptu stop at Rose & Rooster after spending a night locally for a birthday celebration. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great place to stop and have breakfast. The staff were very friendly, the ambience welcoming and of course.. the food was excellent. My wife devoured the pain perdu, which was just incredible, while I helped myself to some fantastic fish cakes and an absolutely delicious home made bowl of baked beans. Can't wait to return - and if you're thinking of going? You will very much enjoy your visit.

Fantastic coffee and veg options for a meal. We loved it. It's a fantastic ride and decent coffee with a quick wrap is perfect.

I wanted to love this place as it was recommended by friends. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews and hope it serves of a means of improving as I see a trend on my main gripe… The main thing I’d like to note for other people is that if you want a fast breakfast this likely won’t be the place to get it. We and many other clientele, waiting ~45 minutes for 2 breakfasts of the same order. And frankly, it wasn’t worth the wait. To the owner, there’s a number of wooden chairs outside that are in seriously bad repair that could cause injury to an individual. Literally a few were falling apart.

Rose & Rooster Cafe is a good place to stop on the way to your surfing trip. They have good breakfast sandwiches (I personally like the Korean Wrap) and their coffee is good. It's a little bit overpriced for what you're getting but overall you will enjoy your meal (plus the service is quick).

Take a long and winding road down Canada's Atlantic coast and you arrive at unpretentious gourmet oasis. Do not drive pass.Try fish cake with tomato jam, eggs bendict, seafood chowder or a BLT with fresh coffee.

We got there right at closing on a hot day. The woman who gave us our coffee did not rush us out the door, she was gracious and friendly. The coffee and treat were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed them on the patio outside.

I ordered several platters and a birthday cake for a family get together while visiting from Ontario. The platters looked beautiful and everything was delicious! I highly recommend Rose & Rooster for your catering needs.

Fun stop along the way. Beauty teas, coffees and expresso drinks. Lemon square is delish. Great cards and local gifts. Make a visit when in Nova Scotia.

Don't let the 1 star appearance from outside scare you away, the food is worth it. Everything was very tasty and unique. We will definitely recommend to our son and his friends

After a great bike ride on the Salt Water Marsh and connected trails thus was a great spot to stop for a home made lunch of fish cakes and baked beans. Lots of breakfast and lunch choices.

Had a BLT & thai chipotle soup - tasted like something from home but the soup was so unique and delicious. Honestly, I've been craving it ever since 😂. Thank you for a great lunch!

FABULOUS! Sweet little cafe with emphasis on local ingredients and products. Even a storefront freezer with pre-made meals and breads to take home with you. Went for weekend brunch, had the Acadian Benny and haven't stopped talking about it since. A must try! Can't wait to go back. Vegan friendly too! So busy enjoying the food that I didn't think to take a picture.
