I stopped here while on a road trip with my dog. I did the Wintergreen trail which was around a little lake. It was a nice path with lots of opportunities to cut down through the woods to get to the water. There also seemed to be a decent amount of people fishing there if you're interested in that as an activity.

The park gates were closed for winter but you can park around easily and get to the park. Well marked trails, we hiked the blue and green. The green merges with the blue (longer route than green) overlooking the city on top and has a loop leading to the Judge's cave and down the road to the parking lot.

Awesome hike. The overlook which is on the RED trail and the tree shelters were awesome. The Judge's Cave was a big few rocks with a few passages between them. Great for kids. Walked about 5 or 6 miles and it felt easy.

What a wonderful place for a hike. Minutes from downtown New Haven and yet you feel as if you are really in the woods. Beautiful lake, cliffs, and overlooks. We will be back after Memorial Day so that we can take the drive to the top.

Great park with a historical mark for our nation. Im amazed by the quality of the park whether its the decent hike around judges cave to the gentle hike around the lake.

Beautiful park and views the trail around the lake is really nice except that we spotted a bag of dog dookie which was out of place. Whoever left that bag of steamy dookie should know better.

It's a good place to go for a small trail with Friends. It's doesn't have the crazy amount of hikes just the normal hikes. If you like to take a walk you can go there and enjoy the nature and the view of new haven.

One of the most peaceful places in New Haven. I come here all the time. Only bad thing is that they close at 6. So you better get there early. Best times to go is in fall and spring do to the sunset being around 5 and its not so cold neither so hot.

With uptown 25 miles of trails to hike and bike you won't be looking for alternate trails for a while. Trails can lead you into some other preserves along Rte. 63 as well. A small lake for fishing (bluegill, catfish, bass and trout), kayaking or paddle boarding with easy access and calm waters most of the time, this is a great place for beginners to start. There is lots of wildlife to observe and picturesque landscape all year round. There is one large loop around the lake for an easy walk around about 1.2 miles long. The parking lot can fill up pretty fast on the weekends and after work.

This is a very beautiful and relaxing park. It has a very nice view at the summit. There is also a small historical cave that even young children can climb and explore. The cave is the size of a very small playground. We hiked as a family that included people of ages ranging from 6 to 60 as well as a puppy. There are no public bathrooms that I know of. Foot traffic was low but It was a warmer winter day. The park is handicap accessible at the ground level.

Serene lake for paddle boarding/boating and natural forest with a little bit of elevation on the hiking trails to get your heart pumping. Stunning views throughout the park, especially from the top. Similar to East Rock in some ways, but less crowded and a bit more rugged throughout.

Serene overlooking beautiful lake wintergreen. You can fish, Kayak, hike or just sit on a stone wall and enjoy. Overlook area has amazing views of New Haven. Very convenient location, minutes away from Merritt Pkwy exit 59 or 60.

A short drive/hike to this wonderful mountain is absolutely breathtaking! 🙂 The overlook is amazing!! This is definitely the place to have a picnic. I suggest parents bring their children here, and schools make this a day trip. You have to experience this to understand.

The absolute best hiking trail for anyone in Ct for 50 mile radius of New Haven. Worth it worth it worth it. Bring some food with you, music, lots of water and cold beverage, and most certainly sunglasses. Gorgeous views, hiking trails for all types of hikers (tough ones, light ones, long ones, short ones, scenic ones, steep ones) a great place for friends to chill.
