We stayed at The Study for 5 nights because my partner was attending a university alumni conference. We paid 2500 cad (about 1840 usd), excluding breakfast, for a "Deluxe King-Size Room with Campus View". Although the location of the hotel is great (on the main street very close to the campus, stores, restaurants, cafes...) and it has an elegant and comfortable lobby, we were rather disappointed by this hotel considering its category. The rooms are very basic, the bathroom is extremely small with very little storage space. Plastic glasses (!), see photo, are offered with a bottle of water, similar to what we find in hotels of lower categories. The rooms do not have tea or coffee makers. I was also very surprised by the gym: very narrow (only two people could fit in), not well equipped, no towels or water bottles (or even glasses to drink). All in all, I think that this establishment can be suitable for one night, but not for a longer stay. We are quite disappointed considering the standing of the hotel.

This hotel exceeded all expectations for my small weekend trip to New Haven. The hotel is small, but feels cozy and not cramped. Everyone who worked at the hotel was incredibly nice to us and even apologized for there not being valet parking (I can certainly park my own car myself). The room was very upscale and felt clean and cozy. I would certainly recommend as it is also super close to everything in that main street.

My husband and I recently were hired at Yale. To celebrate and to become more familiar with the area we invited our best friends to join us. Initially, we enjoyed late lunch at the Study where we were staying. The accommodations were nice and the prices were reasonable. Great environment!

The Study has always been a “home away from home” for our family. With impeccable service, fully equipped, comfortable and clean, inviting rooms, we have always loved staying there. I will always be grateful to them for their incredible kindness, warmth and thoughtfulness several weeks ago when we all stayed there for our mother’s funeral. Thank you to everyone there for providing so much comfort and refuge to us during that difficult time. We Will appreciate it always.

I have stayed at the Study many times. The location is great. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Valet parking. Great restaurant. Nice bar, with friendly bar tenders. Great spot to meet people. It obviously has an academic feel which I like. But aside from that it is still the nicest hotel option in New Haven. General advice: if something is wrong with your room (never happened to me at the Study), don't complain online, just ask for a new room!

Fabulous hotel so close to Yale university. It is so posh and modern and looks very fancy from outside. Valet service available. Super clean, modern and quiet rooms. Luxury amenities. A very nice restaurant if you don’t want to venture out. Prompt, friendly staff.

Excellent stay! Starting out the staff was so friendly, the room was a great size and very clean! Great location right next to Yale! The bar/restaurant located in the hotel was delicious as well!

I meant to make a review after I stayed earlier this month, but I still wanted to say that this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in New Haven. The location is great, the rooms are decently spacious, the bathroom is luxurious (they carry C.O. Bigelow products), and the service was great. The security for the floors and rooms is top notch and reminded me of going into my office. Alex went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good room and had great communocation, and Tyler ironed out any potential issues we had. Thank you so much, Alex and Tyler!!

If you are a Yale student and the fam is coming to visit, do yourself a favor and have them stay here!! Amazing quaint and cozy hotel right in central downtown!!! The beds also are LOVELY and feel like you are literally sleeping on a cloud. They also give you robes 🥹🥹 if you are a prospective student this is also a great spot to stay when checking out campus. Highly recommend the restaurant there too!!

This place is just effortlessly elegant -- and frankly kind of perfect. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfectly appointed and the beds and bedding rock. Super dog friendly. And none of this baloney where you have to be a 'loyalty member' or part of the 'frequent flyer club' or they treat you second rate; if a late check-out is possible, they'll grant it. If there's a room on a higher floor avail, they're happy to offer it. It's just a place where I've consistently found the answer to be 'yes, we can help' when I've had a need. In a hotel world where every little ask has become like the baleful a la carte system when flying - it's so refreshing to stay at a hip and swank place that runs on old school principles of simply great service. The Study gets an A+ on this exam.

Absolutely delightful in every way! Great service, lovely view, walking distance to wonderful shops and restaurants around campus. Terrific spot for a getaway for a couple of nights. Just FYI - no fridge in room. Didn't see ice either...

Nice and tasteful hotel in central location. Staff is friendly. Bed relatively comfortable and the rooms are light and spacious. My room had a connecting door to another room, so if you’re unlucky, it might be somewhat noisy as a consequence. Free water in the room and free coffee in the morning downstairs. Wifi made trouble here and there. Overall good experience and would definitely come back.

Had a lovely 5 day stay at The Study at Yale. The Hotel employees were very friendly and accommodating, the hotel restaurant, Heirloom, served 3 yummy meals a day, there was free tea, coffee, water, and healthy snacks in the lobby, and the hotel rooms were cozy. The atmosphere was relaxed: One afternoon 5 of us (plus our dog) played board games in the lobby. This is not a stuffy or formal hotel which we enjoyed!

Nice and cozy size hotel. All good care and active staffs. Room also nice and clean with good size. Location is ideal for New Haven city center or Yale visit, not too busy or too much outside of the center. If I revisited Yale again, here would be one of my first choices.

Rooms are a little dated but overall still a very comfortable place to stay.

The environment is minimalist and upscale. Bookshelves ensconce the lobby. If you want to be fully immersed in the Yale world without stepping on campus, this is a perfect place. If you do want to explore Yale, this is also a good place to start. Maps and guides of Yale can be found everywhere here.

Very good location if visiting the University or museums. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly (even if you arrive at 3am because your flight is delayed). Agree with other posts- parking at $37 a day is atrocious. Pedestal sink with no counter space is silly. And the room has no fridge or microwave- so only book here if being in walking distance to Yale and restaurants is your top priority.

A very comfortable hotel conveniently located in downtown New Haven. Most hotels are only dog-friendly when they say "pet-friendly", but the Study at Yale welcomed us with our cat without any problem at all. The room it self was very clean and quiet. Would definitely stay there again!

On the positive side, the front desk staff was friendly and the main lobby cozy and inviting. My husband and I were, however, disappointed with our room. The primary issue was the HVAC system made a terrible loud noise every 20 minutes or so. It was impossible to get to sleep. I tried turning the system off from the control panel on the wall, but that did nothing to stop the noise. After several hours of miserably laying in bed unable to get to sleep, I went to the source of the noise and was able to pull away the front panel and unplug the unit entirely. Finally I was able to get to sleep. This did mean that the room was 61F when we awoke, but thankfully we were warm enough throughout the night under the covers. The HVAC system needs to be repaired or replaced as no guest should have to suffer the noise and troubleshoot in order to get to sleep the way that we did. Also, I recommend moving the toilet paper roll mount to either the side wall or in front of the toilet as it is uncomfortable and extremely difficult to access the toilet paper while one is sitting on the toilet.

Everyone is very polite and professional. all staff wear their masks when dealing with customers. rooms are clean, nice, and simple. in the lobby they have coffee, other drinks, and simple snacks which is always appreciated. I fully recommend The Study at Yale.
