Certainly not the ritz, I'll tell ya that. The open wings make it impossible to get any decent rest. Snoring is an issue and not everyone can sleep with earplugs. I was told to sleep on the floor up front, or on 2 chairs. Honestly, they can be a little more humane with how they treat people. Their medications are given without any truth of their side effects. They don't even tell you how it works. Just "Drugs are bad. Don't do drugs, Here, here's an anti-psychotic drug, you can have this". The nightmares are insane and they are crazy if they think I'm gonna keep taking that garbage.

Sterile cold environment. There’s zero privacy as rooms are nearly always shared and the space is very cramped. Unless unless given the approved status, patients are stuck within that small area with virtually no real opportunity to get exercise. It is what you make of it because there are very caring and capable staff- unfortunately they are not around to to help patients over the weekend alongside being frequently understaffed during the day when multiple 1:1s come in. I wish Yale better funded its psychiatric hospital considering the cost, and personally, I would’ve gotten more out of it if I was able to get comfortable & have more room- because of this I felt I was only focused on leaving not getting proper help.

Spent 2 weeks here. The bathrooms are nasty and they don’t clean them properly, they run short on hygiene supplies. Some nurses are rude and careless. The food is okay. I feel like you need to speak up for yourself a lot, if not they will step all over you and keep you for as long as they can. There was a nurse that refused to give me meds that I was prescribed. Another time a nurse gave me the wrong meds and I was throwing up all night long. He didn’t care even after I brought it to his attention. It’s overwhelming enough being in there. Thankfully I had my brother on top of them and I was able to get better.

Was there for two reasons. I was working on audio for a game and my overbearing mother called the police due to a noise complaint, the irony being that I told her in advance that I'd be making a bit of noise and she was okay with this. An EMS arrived and admitted me simply for not knowing the date and nothing more. I was stuck for three weeks while Dr. Filmore flat out lied to a judge claiming I had physchosis and schizophrenia based on false claims by my mother and would constantly threaten to keep me against my will for simply asking for her so I could explain the situation properly. It was an awful experience and they never ever let me call my attourney before my case. I was compeltely innocent and the treatment was awful, they forced a cocktail of medications on me against my will on an empty stomach that made me vomit profusely and I was physically assaulted by a male nurse after politely refusing to speak to him. He screamed, cursed, stretched out my shirt and flat out punched me. I was completely passive and non-violent and nothing was done to him. This place was traumatic.

I am not sure if this is Winchester one, AKA Winnie One.". If it is, I can speak personally from two 60-day inpatient stints at this facility. The first was when I was 6 which I do not recollect. The second stay, however, I was nearly 10 and very much remember. I remember it all despite my lifelong effort to FORGET. They failed to keep me safe, and I am paying the price 30 years later. To be clear there were many remarkable staff. But it only took two to ruin my life.I will leave it there and simply suggest sending your child elsewhere. I don't care how long its been. There are countless remarkable programs where the adults act as protectors. Like they should. And not "most of them," because that's not good enough. ALL of them.

stayed here for four days — the longest four days of my life. an overwhelmingly clinical atmosphere and absolutely no solitude made everything that put me there so much worse. i had no choice in going because i was evaluated by a social worker who’d never met me before and who apparently knew exactly what was best for me. horrible place.

These people are extremely trans-phobic and don't use correct pronouns they also said my appearance was unkempt because I have long curly hair. On another note if you have opiods dependency or are incarcerated prepare to be treated like a second class citizen. Yale is not new haven it's it own elite society. Sneezes and dirty glares in your general direction.

The staff at Lv2 were really nice and held good conversation. They didn’t treat me like I was a child, since I was 17, but I have experienced other psychiatric facilities that were unhelpful. The units were overcrowded. As someone with social anxiety, I was rarely able to attend groups due to their side, and I feel like that wasn’t taken seriously. I was struggling with my eating disorder back then, but they let me get away with a lot, and when I discharged, I had lost more weight. The food choices were good, especially as someone who is vegan. The one unprofessional thing that I will say is that they broke HIPPA. I had told them with confidence about my substance abuse history, and without my knowledge, told my parents. My outpatient clinician agreed that that was something uncalled for and completely wrong. I would have at least liked to have been told that they would tell my parents because I didn’t find out until I called them and had to confront the psychiatrist who said that because of my diagnosis, they had to tell my parents, which is incorrect. I was 17 years old, meaning, I signed myself in and expected that HIPPA be followed. That was probably the most frustrating part of my experience there. Overall, the staff were nice. The unit and courtyard were very nice as well. It wasn’t the most helpful place, but also not the worst.

Scary place. No groups and it’s over run by a cult of women. People pay for there kids to stay here forever. Staff is worse than patients. Rather be in jail.

A complete den of quackery. My father was hospitalized for suicidal ideation. I am writing this 10 hours after his discharge following his 2-month-stay. He continues to be suicidal and more aggressive than I have ever seen him. The staff is unwilling to consider any treatment besides antipsychotics, ECT and 300mg doses of lithium. They don't even provide daily counseling, and would not let me even pay for daily counseling. They should open a kiosk outside for antipsychotics.

Spent a week here the staff are horrible and they will make it seem like you are doing ok when you’re not, where I stayed LV2 it was like a prison where you needed a “yard time” pass to have decent food, if not well you have to stay in your room and eat the cold food they give you. Not to mention the RACISM

Was overmedicated to the point that my liver started to fail. I had jaundice and had to be transferred to the medical unit. The staff are also rude and the atmosphere is sterile and bad.

I loved the staff, the rules seemed very fair & enforced for our protection and I felt safe during my stay. While the staff is full of different personalities, I can assure you that all of them treat you like a human being! I don't know what it's like in the other unit (with the adults), but the unit with the adolescents was definitely comfortable and I can even say I enjoyed my time there. Thank you!!

The pediatric mental health services and drs offered were very negligent in the past 6 admissions I’ve had w my daughter. It’s deplorable and heart breaking to see how much this hospital is only concerned w unit stability and discharge. Not actually helping my child. It’s a vicious revolving door in the services both inpatient and outpatient that are offered. Takes days to be able to even get your child on unit to begin treatment and then you don’t even get the help you need. Do better, our kids need help!
