Visited Mystic Aquarium in Mystic CT on September 14th was a great visiting day! The visit lasted about 2 hrs as we toured the entire aquarium which wasnt packed. They have the aquarium setup nicely to aid you in keeping healthy and safe. From first entering, you walk through an employee monitored staged room which they check your temperature with a touchless and interaction free, infrared thermal body scanner, you just walk right through. Upon entering the aquarium all CDC guideline requirements are posted and controlled to ensure you and the family, friend stay safe. So bring your Mask they are currently required. The aquarium is guided from exhibition to exhibition by signs, marked arrows and lanes to keep traffic flow going smoothly around all aquarium features. From starting with the famous Beluga Whale which they seem to enjoy the attention - see photos, you will enjoy the sea lions, seals, penquins, Alligators 😉, and enclosed aquarium features. The enclosed aquarium includes a large variety of sealife that will keep you and your guest amazed and entertained, from exotic fish, sharks, stingrays, turtles (that look like Crush from Finding Nemo), rare blue lobster, Biofluorescence fish (really cool) - see photos and lots more. They also have a shark tank so you can touch them 😮. Ending your trip with a quick stop at the Jurassic Thrill exhibition will end your exciting visit unless you want to do the complete walk through again and again and again and, ok ill stop. As for food or snacks not much is available, just a couple quick bite shacks serving hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, ice cream, drinks and more. Enjoy! Like if you appreciate the time I gave to this review and if I convinced you to go and have a great day with the family and or friend. Remember stay safe and healthy, we will get through this!

Visited on 3-13-22. Small indoor aquarium with larger outside. It’s very very cold outside dress warmly! We have visited Aquariums all over the US. Loved it here. Very friendly staff. Thought tickets were pricy but part of proceeds go back to feeding animals so was happy about it that. Will be visiting again! Make sure you see the sea otter show! It’s phenomena!

We have been here quite a few times and it never gets boring! Sad that the penguins area was out due to construction but well be back again. The beluga are always happy and the sea lion show was spectacular as usual. They updated it! Enjoy some of our photos and the video of the beluga saying hi

What a fun place! It’s not the biggest aquarium in the country but it makes up for it in guest service and interesting exhibits. The sea lion show was cheesy but cute. The main gallery had interactive exhibits and lots of interesting info. We saw the sea lion feeding and the attendants did a great job of explaining their actions and behavior of the animals. And of course the belugas were so dang cool! If we lived closer, we would definitely get season passes but a trip every year is definitely warranted!

Went to the Mystic Aquarium and had a wonderful visit. Very educational and many interesting sea creatures to view and learn about. Many exhibits one can touch the animals, the visiting children were all ecstatic while learning about ocean life and conservation. A big shout out to the food prep there, I had a BLT that was really amazing! I highly recommend a trip to the Aquarium, quite fun.

A very nice aquarium, with amazing beluga whales, sea lions and penguins all outdoor,as well as the indoor aquarium. Disappointing that for the steep price, the virtual reality experience, as well as the dinosaur exhibit has additional expensive prices. Mostly helpful and friendly staff. Could have been a more information to when show and feeding times are.

Such a fun place with a few touch tanks for the kids, large tanks to watch the little (and big) animals swim around happily, and always someone nearby eager to talk and answer questions about the animals. My kid was very biased in favor of the playground.

A smaller aquarium but fun for all ages. A normal visit will be about one to two hours depending on what you want to see. Everything is nicely organized and usually not over crowded. It's a great time for the family if they have an interest in aquatic life, with plenty of exhibits and interactive ones.

My first time at this aquarium, and it was amazing how they had plenty of rental wheelchairs, and most tanks were easily viewed from that level. It was a lot of walking, and I have a number of injuries still healing. I was grateful for the option of using the wheelchair like a walker or sitting and being pushed when needed. We LOVED the mermaid exhibit! My only comment would be that I ended up waiting in line twice because the woman sending people to wait at various windows sent my brother and I (our group) and then asked if it was okay if another group joined. I said I had waited half an hour to have the experience and to get a picture. She added three kids to our window anyway and the mermaid didn’t interact with my brother and I at all, just the kids. We got no picture and had to go back in line for another one. Adults like mermaids too!!! By the time we got in like the second time I did get to interact with the mermaid but not a good picture because my brother had given up and was sitting across the way. I was just disappointed is all. He came all the way from NY for this. We were so excited, and we just wanted to be treated like equals with the kids, in terms of wanting the experience.

Do arrive by their opening, so you can secure proper parking. The first seal show is at 11 AM, which was amazing. Play with sharks and sting rays. Learn more about the Long Island Sound and the technology inspired by it. Explore the aquatic life of the Amazon. Best of all use various links to go on a listening tour. The staff are friendly, so ask for help and directions. This is a place to frequent often, so get a membership to enhance your learning.

Nice and fun aquarium! I loved the 4D experience about the Dinosaurs - 2 short movies, dinosaurs, frogs, lizards, a special spot for pictures with dinosaurs! I LOVE the belugas! The sea lions are great! You can pet the stingrays. So much to see and to do! Highly recommend! Get tickets online to avoid any wait. Also, if you get tickets togerher to Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport Museum, you will significantly save! Plenty of parking. Nice shopping and restaurant area in the town around the Aquarium.

Went here for a day trip and it was fantastic. The exhibits are wonderful and great for people of all ages. The aquarium was clean and the staff was friendly. All of the staff was so nice and genuinely seemed like they enjoyed their jobs. The staff was knowledgeable and great with younger kiddos. We arrived early which was good because the parking lot is fairly small for how high the demand is. It was $44 per person but you can spend all day there. The jellyfish and the touch tanks were the best in my opinion. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip and will be back in the future.

We went for out first time as a family & it was worth the drive. Once you walk in, they take your photo, for later you can order a keep safe memory. The seal show was so cute, you're able to see the penguins swim through out the water. You'll see fishes, turtles, sharks, you can touch stingrays. They have an area for the smaller kids to play, you can have a boat race. Definitely a fun family day that the kids will enjoy. Also they have a lot of parking ! And a gift shop.

It's smaller than the aquariums I'm used to going to, but it's amazing nonetheless. The beluga whales they have are absolutely adorable and I can look at them all day. Definitely recommend the sea lion show as well--educating and fun. Tons of interactive stuff, such as touching manta/sting rays and small sharks. There's also virtual reality in which my family got to explore tiger sharks in with scuba divers. Would love to go again.

I’m sure many MANY others would disagree, but I didn’t find this to be… the best option for our dollar. You pay to get tickets to enter the aquarium. They are not “cheap” either, it was around $110 for 2 adults, and 2 children. BUT! Those tickets don’t give you access to everything in the aquarium. They have a handful of “side attractions” that require additional tickets, like the dinosaur exhibits. But there was an outdoor “touch tank” for stingrays that also required a ticket. Seriously, just up the price $10 per “entry ticket” and allow access to everything. As usual, this isn’t a “problem” for me, or an adult, but trying to explain this to the kids is definitely the issue. But hey, who cares, right? The aquarium doesn’t have to actually tell the kids “no” and see the disappointment. So no biggie.

Had a super fun time at the aquarium! So many different animals and the staff was so attentive and kind, always coming up to us and explaining information about the animals. Seriously super cool and definitely a must see if in the area! Pro-tip buy tickets days or weeks in advance!! They’re always more expensive day of.

It's decent size and nice for a visit. We had a pleasant time. You have to buy time slot tickets either at the door or possibly online. We were unaware and had to wait two hours before we could enter. We grabbed lunch and walked around Mystic Village which was enjoyable. It is very crowded most days so expect to be in the vicinity of others. Don't expect to immediately be able to experience an exhibit without first having to wait and take turns with other patrons. The animals seem generally happy. The exhibits are clean and the aquariums are too. It's difficult to truly get a full learning experience because of the crowds however the staff is mostly knowledgeable. There are interactive areas for children, information hubs for different exhibits, and a few regionally themed aquariums that were interesting. We paid extra for the dino exhibit. It was interesting with life sized robotic dinosaurs. If you have experienced something like this before it's probably similar to what you have experienced albeit it was nicely done. Overall if you've never been to an aquarium this is a decent experience. I probably won't go again just because of the crowds, it made it difficult to enjoy what they had to offer. Four stars because they do what they do pretty well but for me it wasn't anything I haven't experienced somewhere before.

We had so much fun at Mystic Aquarium! The highlights of my trip were seeing the penguins, beluga whales, and the sea lion show! If you are debating whether or not to see the show, I highly recommend watching it (great experience for both kids and adults). I’d recommend getting there a little early to get a good seat and there’s a little bit of audience participation at the front middle row if you’d like that. Inside the aquarium, there were a few interactive exhibits where you could touch the fish or crustacean and one where you learn about waste. All the staff were very nice and welcoming. We had a really wonderful time seeing all the animals. Overall, highly recommend this aquarium!

Spent a nice Friday here with my daughter. They had a dinosaur exhibit that was free that day so we got to explore that which I'll say was awesome, so many interactive games for kids and a playground inside. If it wasn't free that day we wouldn't have spent the extra to experience it however it made it such a unique visit (after I've been there about 4x now) so I'm glad it was an option and I'll likely think twice next time about spending the extra. It's a beautiful aquarium and we really had a great time. Food options are nice there too. Staff is all nice.

Fantastic aquarium. In addition to the awesome exhibits, this aquarium features a Family Lounge and First Aid Center that is a private quiet room available for guests for free. I was extremely impressed with the function and cleanliness of this room as it offers a changing table, breast feeding chair, privacy screens, first aid supplies, an area to nap, toys to calm a child, and is a calming sensory space.

Five stars is no where near enough, to see how much these people are doing to help these animals simply is amazing. Having our wedding here was truly an amazing event and the staff truly went above and beyond to host the event for US. Really made it much easier the t and stress free. Proud to be members here

I was thinking of going somewhere fairly close , within an hours ride, to do something out of the ordinary. I came up with the Mystic Aquarium. I brought my 17yr old son along. I wasn't sure ifhe would still enjoy it as an older teenager but he really liked it, not in a way that a young child would but with a more scientific point of view as well as a healthy dose of teenage boy gross humor describing various fish and animals. Gross descriptions aside, it's a great place to go to see fish from all over the world as well as the displays of local fish and wildlife. There are outdoor exhibits with seals, penguins and Beluga whales. Indoors it has interactive exhibits ,where you can "pet" some of the fish as well as an outdoor tent where you can pet some Cow nose rays. There is also a California sea lion show which was both fun and educational. You can take your time while there but you have to purchase tickets in advance for a specific time. If you just show up like I did they have kiosks where you can pick a time and buy your tickets . Luckily for us there were openings for the time that we got there so we were able to go right in. It's such a big place that it probably could accommodate you when you get there but if you want to be safe I would go online and purchase in advance. Masks are required indoors so make sure you bring one. We spent about 2and 1/2 hours there which was enough time to see the exhibits and a show but I would have liked an extra half hour to an hour to go thru the exhibits a little more slowly. We got there at 130 and it closed early(4pm) because it was New Years Eve. I would allow about three hours to see it all especially if you have small children in tow. All in all a great experience! Enjoy!

We had a great afternoon at the aquarium. Because of covid, you need to purchase tickets ahead of time online. That was easy, and then you just show the tickets at the entrance. Everyones favorite exhibit was the Beluga Whales. They were really interactive with the kids, blowing bubbles and playing. So much fun.

Great place to visit in Mystic. You have to enter within the entry time frame. This is due to covid regulations as I think. Masks are mandatory. You can roam around as you like. Can touch animals as well. Beluga whales are the most famous attraction

We really enjoyed this aquarium. And for sure it is better than New England Aquarium. It took us almost 2 hours to drive from Boston here, and it was woth it. The parking is big and free. The tickets are expensive. For 2 adults and 3 kids we payed $152. Plus in the gift shop for 1 magnet and 2 stuffed toys we payed $42. Not a cheap trip. The best attraction of the aquarium are 3 belugas whales. They are adorable. Penguins are also nice. Inside exhibitions are all gathered on one floor. There are many interactive exhibitions, the kids had a lot of fun. I wish this aquariume was near us.

Over priced and a major let down. We went on Sunday and the place was mass chaos. There are signs saying to stay 6 feet apart and a pathway was marked out, but no one was listening and no staff member was even attempting to direct people. They did not have wheel chairs or scooters available for people who had a physical restriction, blaming the government even though theses are provided at grocery stores across CT. The exhibits were okay, but there seemed to be okay but the touch pounds were again poorly staffed and people were pushing each other to get to the the touch areas (adults included). I had to ask a staff member for help and she was very rude, interrupted me as I was asking for help and responded with a major attitude. They did have gluten free buns, but the food in general was astronomically over priced for the quality. The gift shop was also over priced. After $26 a ticket for lack luster displays and poor service you would think a t-shirt would be reasonable. You'd be wrong they want $50 for you to advertise for their chaotic aquarium. I gave this a two because my kids loved the fish, but as a self-employed business person, this place was a night mare. I do want to say one employee was very nice and helped us find the food. Basically avoid this place like the plague until the actually plague (COVID) is over.

The mystic aquarium was amazing. I love Ray's and I've always loved doing the little touch pools that they have at aquariums and this time I decided to go for the ray experience at the mystic aquarium. It was so awesome I got to know a lot more about Ray's then I have before and we got to touch them and feed them and they painted a picture for us my little 3-year-old cousin was just thrilled as well as my husband was thrilled with the experience so it is great for all ages.

Very good spot to take kids. Liked seeing the whales and sea lions. The underwater viewing station for the whales and penguins was great. There was one whale and one penguin were very photogenic. Was a very hot day when we went so it was good they had fish viewing areas inside so you could cool down a bit. The shark touching area was good but the sharks weren't having it after getting pet all day

Great place to take a family trip or a casual date. The environment is lovely and gives the feeling of being on vacation even when it's a Sunday and you have work the next day. The food selection could've been a bit better, especially for the prices. The food is more suited for children. If going on a date I'd suggest going to downtown Mystic for actual food. If you really want to get food inside the aquarium, stick to the sandwiches, the shrimp meal is way over priced as you get some pieces of shrimp about the size of your little finger nail. Some of the staff there aren't as chirpy as you'd expect when going to a place like this. The enthusiasm was lacking in part, from some of the employees. If Military, whether active or veteran, you get a free ticket and your dependents get $10 off. Be sure to inquire about this. The Hurricane Wind Blower: This isn't really for children 10 and older. You'll be disappointed 😞. Overall, there's plenty to see and the shows are very enjoyable. I recommend going and experiencing the underwater lifestyle. You'll definitely leave knowing more about the sea and its creatures than before.

Easy to spend two hours here, if not a little more. The sea lion show was definitely fun and put a smile on everyones faces. One employee really stuck out. He was walking around cleaning glass and handrails, he had dreads and maybe a Jamaican accent. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the exhibits. If he noticed someone couldn't find a hiding frog or fish, he would help them find it and share an interesting fact about the animal. Great experience all around.

Built on 1979, showing a bit of its age, but still a trip you are going to take with the kids or grandkids…as you pass through, or on a rainy day. The world is full of so many amazing creatures…you have to see them. Enjoy the afternoon.

Came here solo for my birthday in January, and wasn't disappointed. Bring a jacket, the Beluga Whales are outside, and they are hard to walk away from. Smart mammals, check my pics, they interact with the audience. Might have been trying to eat the child through the glass, but kids don't know that. Jellyfish tanks are incredible, could watch them all day. The variety of sealife there is impressive. Got to pet the Stingrays. More fun than it sounds. Spent about three hours, saw everything at least three times. Copped a Jellyfish lamp at the gift shop, so cool. Only complaint is that it got pretty packed, especially for dead of winter. Too many screaming kids, but what do you expect? Not much anyone can do about that. Too bad it's not OK to give the kid a juice box and throw them back in the minivan. Definitely plan on returning here. Very cool stuff.

We are members here and have been 5 times I think. It's a fun place for kids, lots to see though it's not overwhelmingly big. You can see most of it in 2 hours. It does get crowded inside which is where the activities are that draw little kids and it is PRICEY which is why a membership will make sense for a lot of families, even if you only go twice in a year. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

We went in early April so many of the outdoor exhibits weren’t fully open. However, the children enjoyed the interactive activities such was petting the fish. We paid extra for the Dinosaur exhibit which the kids enjoyed. Overall, the Mystic Aquarium was OK (maybe it’s because I heard such great things about it). It’s smaller than expected and it can get busy on the weekend.

A very cute aquarium! The prices have gone up immensely but I know they are an intricate part to supporting and maintaining marine wildlife off our New England coasts. I wish the signage to the marine life had said where they were from. We love learning about where each animal comes from and there are not enough verbiage to educate. The staff needs to have a stronger voice to the ignorant and blatantly irresponsible patronage who do not follow the rules. Washing your hands, using the two finger pet rule and avoiding certain areas of the petting pools is so dang important. Repeating the rules in a passive aggressive manner does not make people listen. Back bones and strong representation to the aquarium recommended. Otherwise, a beautiful clean aquarium for the public to be enjoy. Kid friendly. Handicapable friendly. Educational to a point thanks to the staff.

You must go here!! One of the best aquariums I have ever visited! Seeing multiple beluga whales in person and interacting with them through the glass is something I will never forget. The aquarium has a huge outdoor section with several cool exhibits — beluga whales, seals, penguins. The indoor section is great as well with a large variety and tanks and exhibits. The sea lion “show” was both entertaining and educational, shedding light on some ways to be more environmentally friendly!

It was a great to arrive just after opening so there were no queues. It is an expensive day out and requires much more energy than my 73 year body can handle. However, their work in conservation is outstanding and their exhibits show their amazing breadth of experience.

Mystic Aquarium in CT exceeded all my expectations! It's an incredible place that blends education, conservation, and entertainment seamlessly. The exhibits are beautifully designed, providing a captivating and immersive experience for visitors of all ages. From the majestic beluga whales to the playful penguins, each animal encounter left me in awe. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating insights about marine life and conservation efforts. The touch tanks were a highlight, allowing me to interact with gentle sea creatures up close. The aquarium's commitment to marine conservation and rescue efforts is commendable. It's an ideal destination for families, friends, and solo adventurers alike. I had a memorable and enjoyable time at Mystic Aquarium, and I can't wait to visit again!

Oh my goodness! This is the best aquarium I've been in my life so far! I've been to a lot of aquarium Sea World in Australia and Florida and many places in USA this is by far the best so far I've been! It's an hour drive for us but is worth it! We watched 4D theatres twice inside Dino Seas which is seasonal from Florida we have to pay extra! We came to mystic for free for me and my 3 kids under the Ct summer museum program for residents! We watched sea lions show indoor arena! We will have to find Africa penguins later! There's so much to do here! It's amazing!

The seal show was great. The beluga whales were absolutely adorable, coming up to the glass and rubbing their heads on it like a puppy looking for pets. Deff is the best part of the trip

Amazing. Lots for the kids to do and fun as a grown up too. The California Seals show was great, but so were all of the other features of the aquarium. There's a lot to do outdoors there too.

Tickets are nearly $40 per adult, depending on the time of day. They offer free military admission as well! It was really cool seeing the outdoor beluga, seal and penguin exhibits!

You’re never too old for the aquarium! Amazing place to visit, big aquarium, tons of creatures! And there are areas that allow you to touch the sting rays! And it’s safe 🥹

Lovely aquarium with lots of great amenities for kids and families. Probably my favorite part was the beluga exhibit. I had last visited in the mid 2000s so that was new to me and very beautiful. The belugas are really awesome. I used discounted passes, otherwise I would say it's pretty expensive. Price aside, very fun, a good mix of stuff for adults and goofy stuff for kids.

great if you have kids!! As for us, a couple in our 20s, we definitely didn’t get as much out of this experience as a family would. But I’d definitely consider coming back when I have kids. We just felt it was a little pricey figuring we saw everything in about 30 minutes. We did stay for the 20ish minute sea lion show which was cute, and it’s indoors which is nice because it was freezing out. If you don’t mind spending the $ I’d say it’s worth a visit. Staff was all really nice

Very nice...Went on a family trip due to the fact the we can't travel cause of covid. We enjoyed it. A little too expensive 35.00 for less than an hour of viewing.

Always a joy coming here. Can't wait for them to reopen fully after the pandemic. Great selection of wildlife here. Hundreds of different species of fish and even certain mammals. Pretty reasonably affordable.

It's a nice aquarium. We went in the winter so we didn't do much wandering outside. It's smaller than I thought it would be. But it has nice exhibits.

What can I say? The aquarium is a class place and the kids really enjoy it. Very clean and professional!

This place is great! The touch tanks are always fun. My kids had a blast & say it's one of the best parts of our vacation. The staff continually remind guests to social distance and follow Covid guidelines. You have to wear a mask to enter. Thank you Mystic for being so vigilant and for doing such a good job during this difficult time!

  • 5/5 Jenny A. 3 years ago on Google
Smaller aquarium but still lots to do. Hands on tanks are super fun (although sharks were a bit shy on our visit which was a bummer). Our favorite was the penguins! You can look under water or above and the penguins seemed to want to play!

This is my favorite aquarium. I've been here many many times for a guy from Jersey; there's something just awesome about it. I've been to Baltimore numerous times over my life and it's cool, and others too, but I have so many memories of coming up in the summer as a kid and being so lucky to stop here and enjoy a day before my family continued up to Cape Cod.

  • 4/5 Julie C. 3 years ago on Google
The best part about coming here was remembering some of my favorite memories I made with a childhood friend here. Not the biggest aquarium but definitely a great day trip

  • 5/5 Randall R. 3 years ago on Google
Very well built location. It's captivating from the first views inside the gate. They cover a wonderful array of sea life. The touch pools are pretty cool if you're not afraid of sharks or sting rays.

I have been coming for over 30 years and i love they change it up. I love bringing my children and giving them a hands on experience. Normally i would give 5 stars but last time we went there was an unpleasant staff member. No smile, no friendly gestures, my 10 yr old was a little intimidated. I miss the dolphins too the shows are not what I remember. Although i understand there should be something to spice it up.

  • 3/5 Jose R. 3 years ago on Google
Experience was good for the 3 year old. Unfortunately even though they make you reserve a time it was too crowded for my taste. With Covid guidelines in place everyone was wearing masks. But when indoors we experienced people either forgetting or not caring about social distancing. People too close for comfort. Was disappointed on that. Markings were clear on viewing spots to exhibits. Staff was friendly.

Very clean and very informative Aquarium. When you first come in there are the Beluga Whales which are extremely playful. The down side even though social distancing is in place not many people follow it as they clamor to see the whales. It was very fun, most exhibits are outside but there was a lot of exhibits inside as well. Its not huge so it took us a little over am hr to complete (without partaking in the sea lion shows)

  • 5/5 Jonathan B. 3 years ago on Google
I always love going to the Aquarium.... Seeing all the different creatures that I would never see. I love the beluga display, they really seem like they are checking you out. The penguin display is adorable. The staff is very friendly. I would definitely say to visit if you get the chance.

  • 5/5 Katz E. 3 years ago on Google
We bought tickets ahead of time. There was no wait to get through the checkpoints. We did the Sea Lion show which the kids thought was cool. They also enjoyed the dinosaur area. The Beluga Whales, seals , and penguins were all out and about. It was not too crowded and people were practicing social distancing. They had a good amount of hand sanitizer stations throughout.

  • 5/5 paul b. 3 years ago on Google
Great place for visit. Boys love the fact they can touch the sharks and the stingrays. It's layed out well so for a pandemic it really works. Lots of cool animals to see and when you go to a display there is actually something to see.

$40 is lot for what you get, especially because there is no shows right now. I think it was too crowded at times. They should have staff members walking the floor making sure people social distance and it is moving smoother. They need to cleaning glass more and watching people so they are not tapping on the glass. They need to lower price for now. Offer a coupon or something.

Even though I am a member, (and it's kind of pricey to be🤯) I was denied entry. Apparently you have to purchase tickets online for a specific date and time or it's a no go. It Would have been nice to receive great customer service....if someone would have let me know this requirement in advance...... However, during normal/familiar life the aquarium is fun and totaly worth it.

The aquarium is great but was disappointed with follow thru on covid distancing and protocols inside. The exhibits are crowded and lots of traffic/Choke points. Admission needs to be reduced and more staff required to monitor distancing for indoor exhibits . Outdoor exhibits and 4D was great, 4D theatre spaces family’s out with 3-4 seats empty

  • 3/5 Carla M. 3 years ago on Google
I wanted to take my 6yr old here on 2/15. There were 10am slots available but once I put in the Feinstein promo code it only showed 2-3 or 3-4. I shouldn’t only be able to bring my son to your facility during those times just because he has that card. There are slots available earlier we should be able to be accommodated at those earlier times.

What can I say except amazing. This is one of my favorite places to spend time and let's start off with the amazing staff members who are both knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the animals here. It was my first experience with the absolutely adorable and intelligent beluga whales which you can see are treated well and are very playful (splash people playfully sometimes so be careful if it's cold out), then going inside I felt like a kid again being amazed by mostly everything especially being able to pet the smaller sharks. Seeing the sea lions play, the pulsing jelly fish, and being offered great facts about the animals on the descriptions. Overall this was a really fun time and one of my favorite experiences in Connecticut.

Bought advanced tickets for noon, called on the telephone to confirm...got to the Aquarium at 12:03. Notified as we approached the ticket counter that the Aquarium was closing for inclement weather at 12:30. At no point either, on their website, during my confirmation phone call, or during the ticketing process was their any notification that the Aquarium may close due weather concerns. Horrible way to treat the public.

  • 3/5 Jamie F. 3 years ago on Google
Good, but tickets are too expensive and current capacity is too high. We went on 2/14, which proved to be a very busy day. The animals were great and most of the enclosures were well maintained, but there were simply too many people for the current COVID-19 situation. Most people did not respect the markings on the ground for viewing and social distancing was not an option. Some of this comes down to parents not being able to control their kids, but some of it just has to do with the natural bottlenecks that happen with the layout of the aquarium. At the price they charge for admission, the experience should have been top-notch. Instead, our 1 hour walkthrough was filled with stress and frustration.

  • 5/5 Michael P. 3 years ago on Google
Love it here. We have annual passes for the family. Everyone always has a blast seeing the exhibits inside and out. Also, just across the way is a charming little shopping plaza with some very decent restaurants. Easy to make a full fun day here.

We had a couples membership when my oldest was under two and went regularly. The penguins were always a favorite. Going in the winter was a good family outing since it wasn't as crowded. Just a little disappointed that the penguins were busy nesting, so not many were out. Still, lots to explore and touching stingrays was exciting.

If you want to see a Beluga whale then come here. I don’t believe there is any another place on east cost that has Beluga whales. The penguin enclosure is also good. The sea lion show is entertaining and kids will love it. The main exhibits are normal stuff that you see in most of the other aquariums. You will have to pay extra to see the frog exhibit which also includes 4D theater.

Wonderful place, I applaud the creativity in the design of the exhibits, and the animals within the exhibits are truly amazing. I would have givin it five stars, but covid closed some exhibits I really wanted to see, no fossils (real ones) were shown, and it was confusing for me to know where to go. But other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

  • 4/5 Janet R. 2 years ago on Google
The good: Staff was friendly, the exhibits both inside and out were well done and creative. We loved the Beluga Whales (our favorite), and penguins and the swamp land area, which gave us time and space to linger. The inside aquarium had some pretty neat shark tanks. The Bad: We picked one of the busiest days of the year to visit, which brought out the flaws in the flow of traffic inside the building. There was no clear instruction on how to get up to the upper level. There was algae build up in the lower level of the Beluga whale exhibit, and with the crowds, made it impossible to get a good photo. We spent an hour an a half there, and might have stayed longer, except we felt pressed to rush through each exhibit so that others could have a look, too. Finally, as a person who's been to the National Aquarium in Baltimore on multiple occasions, I felt that you got more bang for your buck there.. I was going to give in three stars, but I feel its unfair that I kept comparing it to the National Aquarium. I might have given it five stars if I had gone when it wasn't so crowded.

The admission, was reasonable, I love the Boston aquarium, but let me tell you, Mystic aquarium, in Connecticut blows Boston away! **A MUST SEE!!** Good for the price, and so worth every second we was there! Such a cool place! I haven’t been to the Mystic Aquarium in quite some time and was so glad I went back. I have to say I was totally mesmerized by the jellyfish there. I could’ve sat there and watched them all day. The belugas were also super sweet and majestic. For me, the penguins were the main attraction and they just seemed so playful and happy in their home. Would definitely go back next time I’m in the area!

This is a nice but small aquarium. I've visited it twice with my wife and son. Summer is a better time to go because a good portion of it is outside. The colder months are nice because there's fewer people.

Amazing aquarium. The staff was very friendly and answered every question we had. The animals were well taken care of and the aquarium was super clean! I highly enjoyed this and recommend this place!

I am so happy we made the trip to visit. As soon as you walk in, you visit the friendliest beluga whales! Even though we visited during February vacation, we didn't mind the walk to visit seals and penguins. I highly recommend visiting at opening, since it is less busy but more importantly - you can watch staff hand out breakfast. The frosting on our visit was the fun seal show! This aquarium is well worth the entry fee.

Always a wonderful experience. We live the Belugas, penguins, sea lions ( they have a show) and the indoor aquarium has lots of petting areas to make it interactive. Great experience for the whole family.

Aquarium is awesome, especially the Beluga whales! Tickets to enter are grossly overpriced as well as the food at the Cafe, but I guess this is typical of these types of venues. Would have been nice for the dinosaur exhibit to be included in the park admission cost...$110 for a family of three - there was no way to justify shelling out another $12 per person to see the dinosaurs!

Overall a nice aquarium but the fact that they make you purchase tickets in advance for timed entry is a little frustrating considering you can still buy tickets at the door. The timed entry doesn't seem to matter anyway because it's still way overcrowded and you are bumping in to everyone. Also the fact the the $38 doesn't cover the dinosaur part is sad it's an additional $12 a person so $50 a person to see everything almost doesn't seem worth it. There is a small play space for 2-5 year olds that is relatively new but no employee near the entrance making sure much older kids aren't going in.

This was such a nice aquarium. The animals were very active and they even had a section where you could pet a shark and stingray. I didn't get a chance to go to all the exhibits but I had a great time!

It's always a good time at Mystic aquarium! The sea lion show is a must see very talented trainers and beautiful sea lions! It's great for kids and adults of all ages. They have a cafeteria too if you get hungry.

I was a chaperone for my daughters field trip and we had a great time with her school mates. Weather was good, the marine life was wonderful and the kids enjoyed the ability they could interact with some of it. Being able to pet stingrays, sharks, sea urchins, shrimp, etc enhances their experience. Every kid I asked said they had a great time. That's what matters.

I went twice this summer, once with just my kids, and then again with my mom, my kids and my son's boyfriend. Everyone had a blast seeing all the wonderful exhibits. The main aquarium is a little on the small side, and could use some expanding, but the main attraction is the outdoor exhibits. The beluga whales and their tank is very impressive, as is the sea lions, seals and penguins. There are two rare seals on display, that you can't see anywhere else but Alaska or Seattle, making this a really unique aquarium to visit. There are some upcharge things to do, such as a 3D theater, but we did not pursue these.

What a wonderful treat to see and experience! Excellent viewing above and below water. California Sea Lion show was quite amusing. Nice, contained space but not too small making you want more.

BUY TICKETS AHEAD OF TIME! Nice place. Smaller than the Boston aquarium. Fun interactive things to do and GREAT customer service!!! We went at 9am and people were already waiting in line. So pre-buy tickets! All the staff that we came in contact with provided excellent knowledge about the animals, facility and area. We went on a long holiday weekend. If I was to go again I would go at a time with less kids.

If you're going to go more than once, which I recommend, just get a membership. Tourist season in Mystic is impossible for any reason, and the aquarium is no exception, but it's definitely worth frequent visits the rest of the year. I'm still glad I get to see a variety of pinnipeds here, but I wish the California Sea Lions could be enjoyed in a regular habitat, not just the theater tank. The facility is tidy and the staff looks genuinely happy to be there.

Lovely exhibits I can't see down south. The keepers were knowledgeable and excited to talk about their critters! I was worried that 2 hours wouldn't be enough to see everything, but for two adults we comfortably visited everywhere and circled back to the belugas for more time there before they closed for the day. If you also go to the special dino exhibit or have kids, youmay need 3+ hours!

This was an interesting and wonderful day full of family fun. The animals looked well cared for, the shows were entertaining and the staff gave exemplary service throughout the entire park. They wer extraordinary in their cleanliness as well. Good to see so many elementary summer school groups happening there as well. Teaching them about the value of the Earth's creatures and conservation at their age is a great thing. Kudos to all involved for making this a wonderful day of memories for my kids and I. Their mama would have loved this day. Hoping peace is with her.

Took my toddler and 7&9 year old niece and nephew there with my sister in law last Saturday. We had a great time. We walked around the tanks for an hour and then saw the sea lion show. It was a great activity to do to get out of the house in the winter. We reserved tickets through our EBT cards and the admission was free!!! Definitely a plus😁

👍 Really nice property. great for families and pet friendly. Wine tasting is reasonably priced, tho the pours were slightly smaller than what we have had in the past and the information on the wine was a bit vague. 👍👍 I would like to tell you this vineyard is a beautiful, well-kept secret, but that'd be a lie. There was a ton of people here, but I completely understand why. The grounds and buildings are beautiful. The building itself is an old airplane hangar that was repurposed. There is still an old runway on t...
