Great experience for the whole family. Gift shop is pricey but expected at aquariums. The walk around the aquarium was a little shorter than expected though but the kids still enjoyed it. We went on a Monday after Christmas so it was extremely busy and was still pretty efficient in moving the large crowds through the exhibits. Animals on display were all in very good condition even considering some of them are rescue animals which is a great thing to see.

They can be proud of what they've built at this aquarium. It's not the biggest aquarium you'll ever visit but it's well maintained and has a nice variety of sea life to view. They have a lot of small exhibits with colorful fish as well as bigger tanks housing sharks and rays. Then they also have a penguin area with 2 species you can view and also watch them feed. They also have a shark feed on Saturdays at 12 but they weren't hungry unfortunately. There is a souvenir shop as well as a restaurant and coffee shop on the premises (Bootleggers). The staff is friendly and helpful. An adult ticket will set you back R235 and they have discounts for kids and pensioners, check their website. If you are South African, remember you can get in for free on your birthday or the week thereafter.

I loved the experience so much! General The place is so amazing! Ranging from the staff and services, going to the exhibits themselves. Most importantly, the pricing is so perfect and reasonable! Service Best customer service from staff and full support for all our needs. It's just a five star on this! No words! Exhibitions The experience goes to all extents of one's senses, you can see, smell, touch, and hear all the exhibits on show. This makes it feel like your part of the underwater ecosystem😅. Other The place is well navigational and full of life! It's the perfect place to be... whether friends, romance, kids or family, it perfect! You can get the more cheaper annual membership at R485 for unlimited visits rather the R160 (students) daily pass. Oh... and you can in and out as you wish, because a ticket purchase is actually a day pass as many times as you wish.

This is an excellent aquarium. I loved the variety of the displays, from the corals to the jellyfish to the penguin area and the shark tank. My mind was blown when I rounded a corner and saw the HUGE tank wall in the sitting area. I had never seen such a huge aquarium window before. I loved sitting and just feeling lost in the underwater world. The walking tubes through the tanks were equally enjoyable. There is a lot of appreciate about this aquarium, and it is one of the best I have ever visited. And a nice bonus is the seals that lounge outside on the harbor with the majestic view of Table Mountain in the background.

This is a very well-kept place and interesting. There is a beautiful tunnel that one walks through with stunning views of the fish. However, we were slightly disappointed with the size of the aquarium, we expected it to be bigger. Nevertheless, it certainly makes for a worthwhile visit when visiting Cape Town.

I had such an incredible time at the aquarium! It was more than just encountering adorable animals; the wealth of knowledge I gained while walking through each section was truly remarkable. Among all the exhibits, the jellyfish room stood out as my favorite with its mesmerizing mirrors, creating a sensation of living in the depths of the ocean. It was a truly magical moment that left a lasting impression. I must mention the staff too, who were exceptionally helpful and friendly throughout my visit. Their warm assistance added an extra touch of hospitality to the whole experience. All in all, it was a fantastic day at the aquarium, filled with wonder and discovery!

A wonderful experience at the aquarium. Clean and well maintained. Feeding time was so interesting watching the divers feed the stingray. Compliments to the aquarium for educating the audience on the importance of keeping our oceans clean. Apart from the sharks, stingrays and the bigger fish, there are several very interesting fish and sea creatures, like the sea horses and eels. Highly recommended for all ages.

The various exhibits are good. You need time to read about them and some interesting facts are shared. I would suggest about 4 hours. Would I visit again? Yes but maybe in a year or two. Nothing that seriously drawn my attention.

Beautiful exhibitions, very friendly staff, sharks are as always the main attraction. The only down side is that the prices are very reasonable for our overseas tourist, but a bit pricey for the local community. Suggestion: give discount to South African citizens. It is our country and yet I feel a vast majority South Africans can not afford to see our own attractions.

Beautiful aquarium! I just had to get the family annual passes for when we stop by for lunch at the V&A Waterfront. So many colourful displays with all kinds of fish, Stingrays, penguins, Sharks and educational talks during feeding time as well as updates on rehabilitation of some of the rescued sea creatures like the turtles. We love it!🐠🦈🐧❤️

We had an amazing time at the Aquarium. We visited in the silly season and during the after 15h00 special. It was really busy, but still enjoyable. There is definitely something for the whole family to enjoy. I love the little photo opportunities that is all over the aquarium. I would love to come again when it is a little less busy.

Very pretty aquarium! Would definitely recommend coming here for a good time , I'd say tho that you should come here not on holidays due to the obscene amount of screaming children that were there . It's a bit hard to enjoy the beauty when all you can hear are 2 year Olds crying. But besides that I'd highly recommend

  • 3/5 Magan L. 3 years ago on Google
It was a nice family outing. It was pricey in my opinion. $85 for a family of 7. And there was a lot of things roped off or otherwise closed. Which is understandable as covid is still a threat. But I do wish they would lower prices since you can't fully enjoy the entire aquarium. I was also confused to see the playground closed since all other playgrounds were allowed to reopen. But we did enjoy our day here.

Very nice aquarium with a variety of fish. There's a tank with so many nemos in it! The jellyfish for me personally were the most interesting to see. There's also a water tunnel that you walk through where the fish swim right over your head. The aquarium is great but since I've visited the Dubai Mall Aquarium I think it's better than Two Oceans but Two Oceans is still worth a visit. The kids will love this place to admire all of the different types of sea life. Also, if you don't want to go all the way to Simon's Town to see penguins, you'll see a whole bunch of them here.

Always a fun experience to walk round in the aquarium. The setup is great and lots of learning for children and adults alike. The exhibits have great information on them and you can always learn a thing or two for that next bar quizz. You can go enjoy a.nice coffee before are after you meander. The penguin feedings is also a good time to go to get more information around these fascinating creatures.

Fantastic aquarium, self guided walk through with very cool and interesting information up all over the place. Could probably spend 5 hours just walking through there and reading all the signboards! Lovely aquariums, and the shark tank was something else. Amazing how close you could get to those majestic beasts. Def A rank, must visit if you are going to Cape Town.

Visited the Two Oceans Aquarium last year during the worse covid period. I enjoyed the time I spent there very much. I got to take lots of awesome photos and got to learn many interesting facts about the creatures. They offer a lot of cool things in their store at the entrance as well. Even if you aren't interested in ocean life/facts I recommend you go there just for the beautiful sights.

A terrific aquarium with reasonable ticket prices. Depending on what aquariums you're used to, the number of exhibits might be small, but they are all well laid out and are in good condition. The I&J Ocean exhibit is pretty sweet, especially if you can catch them feeding the rays (we were there at noon). Bob the turtle is there in that exhibit too, but it sounds like they are hoping to release him into the wild, if he's able to pass the test. Highly recommend this.

The Two Oceans Aquarium is a wonderful place to go even if you don’t know trout from penguin. It can be a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town, too, and you’re bound to find some sea creatures to fall in love with. Home to more than 8 000 creatures and over 200 species, the aquarium gives both adults and little ones the chance to come face-to-face with predators of the deep, fish as multi-colored as the most vibrant rainbow, crabs the size of toddlers, and our favorite monochromatic feathered friends, the adorable African penguins. While the aquarium is all about fun and entertainment, it’s also devoted to educating visitors. Display boards can be found next to most exhibitions and installations with comprehensive information on the animals and efforts to protect them. Take time to learn the story behind many of the creatures’ existences and develop a greater appreciation for their fragile being.

Loved every minute at the aquarium! The vibes are immaculate, exhibits are well maintained and staff are friendly. Jellyfish exhibit is a vibe, not as many jellies as I expected, but still cool. The penguins smell, but they're cute, so it doesn't matter. Sharks are great, but the highlight for me was the kelp forest- I could've sat there for hours (see last pic). I spent 3.5 hours there, parking wasn't as high as I thought it would be after all that time either. The website is super informative re: pricing, times etc. 10/10 recommend.

Exhilarating is the underwater experience that you feel at the Aquarium. You have to realise that water is home to an overwhelming number of animals. The tour was well worth the price, especially considering the amazing sharks.

Great experience for the kids to have close interactions with penguins, watching them run to their pen, then our African penguins being fed lunch. Also educational for them to walk around seeing a huge variety of sea life. Di ving experience is also available, we didn't do it but it looks amazing

I enjoyed our visit today. The otters weren't in their habitat yet, but the building is open now and there are some animals floating around. Upset that their was no flags up outside or in any exhibits for Veteran's Day. Some people forget that we're supposed to be spaced out, and that we all want a turn. The staff is lovely though, everyone is really helpful! High touch areas are labeled, and hand sanitizer is placed throughout the aquarium. Gift shop is currently closed, but touch tank and the playground are accessible. Cannot wait to see the otters next time!

If I could give you more than 5 starts I would!!!! I love this place. In July I took my only living grandparent for his birthday and then on Monday I came for mine. The staff are friendly and super helpful. The space is neat and clean. The amount of tanks omw omw omw!!! Yes I get lost in anything to do with the ocean. Do not lie to yourself and think you'll do a 15 minutes tour. Nope nope nope. I ended up spending almost an hour in the aquarium because I just wanted to take in very very very thing. Awwww had such an amazing time If you wat to head there for your birthday, you need to use the ticket on the day you redeem it so plan ahead also you can use it for your birthday or 7 days thereafter. There are Santising stations everywhere. Not too many people in the Aquarium at once which makes you feel safe especially in this level where Cape Towns numbers have been high. Sadly due to covid 19 we couldn't crawl into the Neo aka Clown Fish tank but it's understandable. The person who planned out the walking tour route OMW!!! Thank you it helped soo much. You don't get lost like most spaces. It is easy to find your way around. Each exhibit has detailed information on them. Ofcause the penguins enjoy having you stare in awe at them lol and some even make some noises or do some dives and swim around for you My absolute favorite exhibit is the Jelly Fish!!!! I spend the most time there. Even did some slow motion videos of the jelly fish. Awww they are gorgeous. And all the information sheets help with identifying each of the jelly fish. Ps the space where it says Jelly Babies. Well it is exactly that. Baby Jelly Fish hehehehehe not the sweet. The real living creature. The wall art awwww love love love. The huge tank where the sharks are swimming around happily 😍😍😍😍 I can't wait for my next birthday. Think my wish will be for a all expenses paid diving experience at the Two Oceans Aquarium Love love love. 10 out of 10 for everything!!! Keep up the amazing work.

An absolute must-see! A lot of Jelly-Fish and anemonae - very difficult to have in an aquarium. Entry-fee is reduced to R150 after 0300pm for adults. Another must see are the two b_iiii_g main aquariums a bit representing the two oceans - however, one with turtles, stingray/manta etc., the other one with a number of sharks besides a lot of other fishes. Dont miss your visit here!

I don't know how I ever went places with young children. Today the Aquarium was filled with couples and families demonstrating just how energetic an experience that can be. And that's apt, because the Aquarium is one of those places that, on bad days your inner grinch will tell you is a cliché, but on any day will bring out your own inner child and give you a sense of wonder despite yourself. In amongst the children there were fish and education. Lots of opportunities to learn how the scary murky water is filled with amazing life that loves to be left alone. And you can drink your fill from the gorgeous displays, jellyfish exhibit, and sea tunnel. Not literally. Please don't drink the fish. You may get diarrhea. Or banned. Probably both. If you're using your GPS to navigate here for the first time, note that the traffic circle approaching the waterfront has been permanently cordoned off with temporary cones (tourists, welcome to one of South Africa's unique paradoxes). Panic not. Follow the path and backtrack to the parking from the next circle on. Bring patience for this part and pay attention to the electronic boards that announce parking availability. It's beautiful, and worth it. If you're bothered by lots of children, bring headphones and be nicer. If you're bothered by lots of fish, don't come.

A fantastic place for kids! If you can time your visit to start at 10:30, when the puppet show begins- you can have a whole day of fun and excitement for your little ones. Our kids had an absolute blast- from the puppet show to the various feedings they have, as well as the “touch and feel” exhibits- this was an incredibly entertaining and informative experience for our little ones. We will definitely be back when we visit Cape Town again.

The Cape Town Two Oceans Aquarium is really educational and cool at the same time. Awesome sharks, fish, penguins, sea turtles etc are all to be seen. Especially enjoyed the jelly fish room with all the different species. I think if you have a family with kids it's a great place or in my case even you and your girlfriend can go check it out. It's pretty fun and a chilled vibe/atmosphere while learning and seeing a bunch of stuff. Definitely deserving of an awesome 4 stars. Located in the V&A Waterfront.

Whether you're from Cape Town or a tourist looking for local attractions - I can't recommend the Two Oceans Aquarium enough! Covid-19 has stopped certain sections to operate, but it is mostly functioning with plenty of temperature checks and PPE like hand sanitizers. It's educational, filled with wonderment and beautiful exhibits.

Wow... what a great experience! We took a trip down in February and needed to keep the kids busy on a rainy day. We booked ahead online (very easy) and showed up during our time slot. There were plenty of Covid awareness signs and hand sanitizing stations throughout the whole complex. Everyone was masked. We felt totally fine spending the day here! My wife and I kept remarking to ourselves how much better all the exhibits were than other well known aquariums we'd been to. Very interactive for kids of all ages. My little ones loved it and we go through all of our pics every few days! It was a hit and we'll definitely recommend and visit again!

  • 5/5 Collin T. 3 years ago on Google
An incredible experience at the NC Aquarium! I was thankful to be able to buy tickets the same day as my visit. Usually this place is packed. Big kudos to the aquarium administration for following COVID guidelines and making it easy for guests to do the same. Was a very pleasant experience despite some exhibits/areas being closed. If you’ve never been to the Fort Fisher aquarium, I highly recommend you visit!

  • 4/5 Jeff R. 3 years ago on Google
The admission price is expensive-almost $40 for adult tickets. There are lots of things to do here, however and there are free tickets through local library's discoverandgo programs. The aquarium is beautiful and you can sit down on a bench and watch the fish swim above your head in the tunnels. The albino alligator is really cool to see. I was impressed with the kids room. It has a treehouse to play in, puppets, crafts and legos. My 3 year old spent a lot of time here. If you are lucky, you can sometimes find street parking in golden gate park, or you park in the music concourse parking, which charges a fee.

It costs $13 to get in during covid off season. A lot of things are closed and a lot of animals not in exhibit. Staff was very nice and explained the animals but not a huge place and you can probably kill an hour or two max. Could be expensive for a big family and not sure during covid if worth it.

  • 5/5 Michael M. 3 years ago on Google
Had a GREAT time here even though it was January. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back.

  • 5/5 Wynand P. 3 years ago on Google
Good time as usual, but some areas have been closed due to Covid restrictions. You can't take anything to eat or drink in and you can't buy any food or drink inside the aquarium. The kids play area is also closed as well as the touch pool. Bootleggers just outside the aquarium is up and running.

  • 5/5 Zaiyaan M. 3 years ago on Google
I love visiting the aquarium - by myself or with my 1 year old son. We always have a good time! Experiencing the wonder and magnificence of the ocean's inhabitants never gets old. The staff at the aquarium are friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend buying the annual membership since it makes sense financially and has many benefits. I also love the happy snappy photo booth which takes great quality photos at an affordable price.

Two Oceans aquarium still the same as 2018 when i visited beautiful and still an amazing place to visit if you find yourself in Cape town. With Covid 19some activities i had the pleasure of seeing the last time had to be stopped like watching them feed the stingray. What was new for me about this place was the Penguins and the fee to go in for adult is 200Rand and kids under age 3 go for free. So generally it is a really lovely place

Not bad. Always a fun excursion, especially with the kids. It is a bit small though. Wish there was a bit more to see. But it is amazingly beautiful. Mother nature is truly an artist. What a fantastic trip to the Aquarium 🐠. We arrived late afternoon and paid R175 for the after three special. Would highly recommended going after three, as it was not as crowded as usual. Observing the sharks swim around was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip. We liked all of the fascinating facts on the various fish and species for just under two hours while we were here. Both lovely and very educational, especially if you have little children. They’ll thoroughly enjoy the trip and be fascinated. There’s a cute snack station for those who’d like to grab a coffee or some snacks as well. Glad to have visited!

If the weather outside is bad, too hot or the visibility is not good for the table mountain, be sure to visit this aquarium. Lots of fish including sharks, several large aquariums and lots of interesting things about the ocean at a reasonable price. Also focused on ecology. I can definitely recommend visiting this place. They also have a children's corner.

  • 5/5 Theo H. 4 months ago on Google
It was really fun. After 3, there's an R60 discount on admission. The sharks are really cool. If day 2-3 hours is enough for it. It's also on the VnA Waterfront, so an easy walk to other places there.
