The staff was extremely friendly. But even more important the food was beyond delicious. Had Fish, bammy and festival and being an expat its actually one of, if not the best food I've had since being back. The beach is clean, no garbage so that makes for a great atmospher...of course it's Hellshire Beach so there is some seaweed but that's mother nature. Definitely worth the visit and the food.

Such a relaxing experience. 3xcellent cooking at the restaurant on the premises. Good attentive ground staff and servers. Sargassum giving the coast line a fight to be great..

Cleanest beach in Portmore, good vibes, safe. You just gotta pay a lil money to rent the beach chairs. Shaded areas available, great scenery. There's also a restaurant on the compound that sells seafood (clearly) fish, festival, soup etc at an affordable price. You can bring your own food/snacks also and bins are there so you ain't gotta litter the beach. Nice chill spot, any day of the week.

Very nice and clean there. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I suggest you be specific when ordering fish by telling them you want it fresh. My fish tasted spoil and was not good at all. Beware of the fat bald security guy there. He will overcharge you to be on the beach especially if you are not from Jamaica and I think it's free. Overall it's a nice side of the hellshire beach stretch.

Its a nice beach to chill with the family, 500JMD per person at closed parking area, walking distance to beach area. Bar and grill is in the area 450jmd per cold Red strip. Fried Lobster goes for 3,500jmd and higher available at beach area.

Great Jamaican beach-side dining experience. Adequate facilities, overhead cover in case of rain etc. Food in general and fried fish and bammy in particular was fantastic and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the sea breeze and provided music as well. Hope to be back soon.

Water was SURPRISINGLY clean and sargussum free. A BEEEEAUTIFUL Sunday. Fish soup was done superbly. You could see the floor clearly for about a good 20-25 feet put from the shore. Nice calm waves and for those like myself that loves shipwatching, it's a beautiful spot to look out onto the Kingston Harbour and the Cays

Great view, great vibes. Could use a little entertainment for people who prefer listening to music on the beach. Entry fee: $300/adult and $200/child Edit: The owner said they don't charge entry fee but I paid the last time I went so, do I get a refund?

Went there for a semi- Nine Night. The rotting sargassum seaweed was appropriate for the occasion. Friendly parking attendant - only $200; well swept white sand; rustic gazebo architecture; well behaved stray dogs; and gentle contact breeze made landing difficult for the mosquitoes

Parking is limited... the beach though was awful.... Seaweed took over the really shallow aspect... it needed cleaning. The security though was very helpful and courteous. Hence the 1 star... Didn't get his name though. Not sure about the food, didn't purchase any.

The food was okay, but the rest rooms for both male and female were woefully distasteful and disgusting to say the least. Not even soap I couldn't get to wash my hands after consuming fish and other sea foods, plus using the urinal thereafter. As for the urinal, it was just pathetic. The operator(s) of this joint needs to understand that if people are to spend their hard earned cash (and the prices are not cheap), then they should as a matter of decency and principle clean up the facilities and offer a far better service. It's not just about collecting people's money!!

Beach is always clean and well maintained. Food is good and the staff is pleasant and we'll mannered. Music is always current and at a nice level to enhance the experience. This is now my favourite beach 'in town'. 24Jul22 - they no longer charge an entry fee, but there is a cost to rent beach chairs

Good food, good company with the best view ever! There is just one issue for me and that is the time between ordering and the delivery of my food. It takes a bit longer than I except. Overall, it's a great spot to hang out!

The beach here is great in the morning. Anytime after 11 am the seaweed starts coming in and it gets too annoying to enjoy the water. The food wasn't that good but it was edible. It was also somewhat expensive (like 1k jmd for nuggets and fries) The staff was courteous and very helpful. There's no where to change as their changing rooms were damaged in an incident, don't know if this is gonna be fixed anytime soon.

We arrived. We inspected. We left. This wasn't a fault of the staff of Waves beach, however. The beach was filthy and the water seemed as if there was an oil spill nearby- it was nothing short of disgusting. We could not have allowed the children to play in neither the sand nor the water. Hopefully it will clear up soon. We ended up going to Hellshire Beach afterwards which was surprisingly cleaner.

The beach needs to be cleaned very early in the morning to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for patrons. (Adjoining proprty >)The individuals who claim to live in the neighbouring community need to desist from harassing patrons. It is okay if a contribution is needed for cleaning up the beach. This should be voluntary. To insist that there is a specific charge for a community beach is unacceptable. The space has great potential to be a place of total relaxation but these issues must be addressed. Finally, persons should not be allowed to use glass bottles on the beach. One has to be very careful walking in the sand.

Lovely beach chill spot that serves up amazing food. Entry is $200 although if you are staying on the neighbouring beaches you can still come over and make purchases. They have a they have a nice bar with a good variety and options of alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. There is a covered dinning area for eating close to the bar and there is the option of eating on the beach. Make shift gazebo to keep you out the sun. The beach at times have alot of sea weed and debris but on clear days the beach is pretty amazing.

Nice beach and space if you want to get a quick get away from the typical Kingston hustle and bustle. It's not the fuss and expense like Fort Clarence nor the pestering like hellshire its a good middle ground beach

That day, the food could have been better. But the festivals were nice. Been there before and had curried fish and that was the bomb. Ambience is really nice and tranquil

The fish was a little too dry for my liking but my kids enjoyed it, the kicker was that my husband got cut by a glass bottle at the shoreline and the staff didn't have a first aid kit on-site but instead gave us rum to wash the wound.

The staff was friendly and accomodating. It was a good experience the fish was also fresh and well seasoned.

The place is rustic but free from harassment. You pay for parking on the beach and the food is a bit expensive. It's not overly crowded, and the service at our stall was friendly and good. I would recommend it if you want to get away from the upscale tourist area.

  • 4/5 Kishon J. 2 years ago on Google
I had steamed fish with steamed bammy, it was excellent. The service was excellent as well, no complaints there.. The only issue was that the sea was full of sea weed. But the vibe was great, and it's also kid friendly. Would have given 5 stars if not for the sea weed.

The beach has some nice wooden platforms that we put our beach towels on. And it wasn't very crowded for a Sat afternoon, but that may have been due to the enormous amount of seaweed on the shore and in the water. It didn't prevent us from getting in the water, but it was annoying at times. We also had fried snapper and festival for lunch on the beach from one of the local restaurants and the it was very good. All in all a good day.

I love this beach side fun spot close to Kingston. Its a short 20-30 drive from downtown. Always pick up a lfreshly cookef lobster dinner when we go. Chaise lounges are socially distanced and close to the water. Waterfront Bar and restaurant open with changing rooms available or just bring your towel for a quick dip and cool down.

The natural beauty of Waves Beach is lovely. Great for photo moments. The sea food purchased there was satisfactory. The service by the Security Officer was great. The beach was dirty. The mosquitoes came out to war after 5pm so we had to make a hasty premature ending to our day. The Security Officer advised to come from in the morning to avoid the mosquitoes.

Best beach in Portmore St Catherine, quite lovely not crowded or dirty. Adequate seating, shade and spacing available. To top it off there is white sand. Loooovvvveee it!!!!

  • 4/5 Marc T. 2 years ago on Google
Clean, pristine white sand beach. Chairs available for rental. Very affordable, try and support the bar/restaurant on site. Changing rooms / rest room facilities could be improved but not a deal breaker.

  • 3/5 Jheanell B. 2 years ago on Google
It's ok. As someone who enjoy being in the water I wish they would clean the seaweed off the beach and in the water. They have a restaurant and bar as well. You pay $200-$500 for seating.
