I’ve been to lots of Michelin restaurants across the world, but none can compare to the food we got at the Blue Mussel Cafe! This place is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every bite, from the appetizers to the mains to dessert, was absolutely delicious and mind-blowing. The seafood was so fresh and incredibly yummy. I’m normally hard to impress with food but all of our courses were a delight. Our server Tammy was super friendly and made sure our group was completely taken care of. Thanks so much to Tammy and the restaurant staff for taking care of us for our meal! I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting PEI, and we hope to be back for more amazing food!

added to the Yelp wait list on our way to the restaurant and only had to wait ~5 minutes before we had a table. the restaurant was so clean and organized, our server was quick to assist and super friendly. oysters were plump and fresh, the smoked mackerel on the charcuterie board was amazing, and loved the fresh catch of the day - its probably the only time I've enjoyed halibut. definitely worth the drive up and out, as well as the wait!

What’s not to like here? We came for an early dinner after seeing the lunch crowds. Promptly greeted and seated in the main dining room. It’s light and airy and not overly loud in spite of being full. It has a nice coastal ambiance and views of the water from most any table. Sam our waiter was prompt, courteous and did not rush us. Two glasses of wine to start along with the blue mussels to start. Mussels were perfectly cooked and wife who usually does not eat mussels loved them. For mains she ordered the chicken and bacon linguine. Great flavor and good portion. I had the seafood bubbly bake which came out in a casserole dish. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of seafood in it and finished it. It’s easy to see how the restaurant is rated so highly.

This is my first time to PEI. A friend of mine said that if you are going for the first time, you must go to Blue Mussel Cafe. He even said that even Justin Trudeau goes to this restaurant every time he goes to PEI. You have to put your name on the waiting list using Yelp. It was 45 minutes when I printed it. When I sat down at the table, I saw that it was 180 minutes. I ordered oysters first. The flavor was unbelievably good. Then mussles and lobster dip. I think I can say it was the best meal I've ever had. Employees do not pressure you. They let you enjoy everything when it should be. They are extremely kind and smiling. The ambiance is very nice. The location is outstanding. The only problem is parking. They need to give serious thought to the parking business.

Delicious seafood restaurant right by the water. I enjoyed all the dishes that we had there and would easily recommend all of them. Service is warm and the vibes chill. East coast Canada at its best.

Food was good, had some issues with service. The lobster thermadore was delicious but kind of salty. Pork tenderloin was too salty but good. Seafood bake had so much seafood (lobster, scallops, etc) crammed into it that it was well worth it. Chicken tacos were better than chicken linguini. Chowder was rich and delicious. Apple mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had.

BEST RESTAURANT IN PEI. I spent a week in PEI sampling countless restaurants on the Island and Blue Mussel Cafe rises up to the top. The seafood chowder is delightful - a perfectly balanced creamy, soup loaded with fresh seafood. The mussels are not to be missed - they were one of the freshest, plumpest mussels I've ever had. And the halibut is simply...exceptional. If there is one restaurant that I could have for the rest of my life...I've found it.

Seafood charcuterie board was amazing! Best dish we had by far. Really unique and every item was delicious. Steamed classic mussels were really, really good. Every single one was open and tasted great. Definitely not like any PEI mussels you might get and prepare yourself from the store! Had some issues with our halibut. According to our server, they had to redo it because they botched the first one. Took way too long to get this dish in the end (30+ mins). The most disappointing thing is the halibut was overcooked & rubbery. They obviously rushed it and ended up nuking the fish. It was end of the night, so I kind of get it (at this point, 8:15 pm, past their close by the time we received the halibut). But for $43.. expected better service/thoughtfulness behind the dish.

Absolutely delicious!!! In our short trip or just 6 days in PEI, we have already eaten at the Blue Mussel Cafe twice - once for lunch and once for dinner! Both times did not disappoint. Highly recommend the seafood chowder and the lobster roll! Everything is so fresh and made with locally-sourced ingredients. On top of that, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We came for dinner one evening that was quite chilly and we were seated upstairs on their patio, but their had brand new (powerful) heaters set up and our server offered me a wool blanket. Thanks Blue Mussel! The only small disappointment was the house greens. My husband chose the house greens as his side for his seafood bubbly, and it was incredibly salty, so much so that he couldn’t eat it. We mentioned it to our server and she said it’s the salted beets on top. We removed the beets and it was still unbearable. Seems a little strange for on a salad… and definitely unexpected. Just a heads up for anyone who doesn’t like too much salt!

Excellent seafood gratinee (lobster halibut n scallops in a cream sauce). I don’t usually like cream sauces but it had light flavor n you could actually taste the seafood despite the thickness of the sauce. The halibut was yummy with a nice salad. Loved the atmosphere n they had blankets if u were cold. Great wait staff n hostess. Make reservations the place always has lines.

They win you over not only through their food but by their whole service and experience. It is like one is getting top-notch restaurant experience on an island one did not expect. The money which one pays here gets you an experience which in a big city would cost a whole lot more. The whole ambiance is very inviting and lively. Coming to food, I am not a sea food expert, but I found the food here to be so tasty and appealing that I would become a sea food lover if I get such kind of food. We tried their lobster dip, which is very famous, and one bite of it made me realize how good it was. Chessey gooey but still has lot of lobster flavor and the picked onion with it elevated it to next level. Then we tried their scallops, and I must say what a great presentation, plus what a lovely sear on the scallops. The whole plate was balanced beautifully. Undoubtedly one of the best meals of my life, which I will always remember. If one goes to PEI, it is a must visit place.

This is a must-go restaurant in PEI! Every item on the menu that we ordered was delicious. The lobster dip and seafood chowder were highly recommended by staff, so we followed their suggestions and they were both fantastic! For main meals we had the lobster thermidor and the seafood bubbly bake which were also insanely delicious! We were seated on the second floor which overlooked the ocean and were able to see a beautiful pink sunset. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and the restaurant itself is very beachy and very clean. However, please note that they do not take reservations, but there is a wait list you can join online. The wait is usually quite long, but we enjoyed a gorgeous walk on the beach and on the pier right next to the restaurant while we waited. The restaurant also offers a bar (drinks and oysters) with a seated area while you wait. I highly recommend!

Had just visited Anne of Green Gables Heritage site. Quick drive to the coast. We were seated quickly with the well coordinated hostess and staff. Lots of great sounding options on the menu. We only chose a few but were excellent. The oysters were good (although a bit small) including the homemade mignonette and cocktail sauces. The seafood chowder was delicious and served with a large homemade biscuit. Had a good beverage menu, including custom cocktails.

I had been looking forward to coming here from the day I booked my tickets to PEI and safe to say it did not disappoint!! The food was fabulous! Presentation was on point and the food was so flavorsome. I got the lobster dip and the baked bubbly and shared a walnut brownie with my friend. I was stuffed and a very happy human when I left!

When I was chatting with a server in St. John bar, I mentioned that I'm planning to visit PEI soon. This guy strongly recommended me to visit The Blue Mussel Cafe. Thank you, unknown guy! It was the best food experience during my vacation. The food is delicious and looks amazing. The staff is extremely friendly, nice, and helpful. And this atmosphere... I want to come back to experience this moment again! My husband usually doesn't like mussels, but this time we were fighting for them🤣 Thank you!

I recommend this excellent restaurant, my husband and I had a wonderful dinner for my birthday (halibut / scallops are both delicious). The staff, especially our waitress Carla, is so nice and thoughful - she even wrote a birthday card to me! Thank you so much for making it special!!

Absolutely loved the Blue Mussel Cafe! 5 stars across the board, couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Food was fresh, mussels were full and local. Great selection of oysters, and good options for those who aren't seafood fans. The service was stellar; beyond friendly and checked in frequently. We didn't have an empty glass on our table. The spot is tastefully decorated and is right on theme. They also have gorgeous views on the patio to enjoy. Will return on our next trip to PEI. THANK YOU!
