Upon looking at Deanies you would think it is tourist trap chain. However we were seated right away and the actual restaurant was very clean, unlike most places in the French quarter. The service was very friendly and food was quick for a sit down. The portions are huge and the food is amazing. Not over priced for the portions. Probably the best fried shrimp I have ever had. The onion rings were fantastic. The batter on everything is very good not to greasy and has a good spice. The BBQ shrimp were also very nice.

Very good seafood. Nice selection. Good pricing. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms which were fantastic. The fried crab platter easily fed both of us and was delicious. Since they had fresh crawfish we got a pound as well and they couldn't have been better. Fully recommend checking this place out.

Was it worth the wait? Definitely not. 1hr 40mins Was it really that great? Nope. It was fried food. And instead of telling the mob waiting to be seated they were out of oysters, the main reason we went. They told us after we were seated. Cause once you are seated at nearly 9pm, are you really going to walk out. The bloody Mary was good though.

We liked Deanieโ€™s Seafood Restaurant a lot. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was colorful and lively and the restaurant is well laid out. Our rating would have been an easy five except for the receptionist. She was not at all friendly, never smiled and never made eye contact. This is a shame as otherwise everything was quite good.

Wanted to have crawfish, but unfortunately, we couldn't get here, but we could have other great dishes, fresh oyster, gumbo soup, and pasta, etc. Gumbo sampler is my favorite here now. Floor staff is very friendly and love atmosphere. I think this place is very popular place, so I recommend to have an extra time to get a tables.

I liked the ambiance of Deanie's. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with hefty appetites, but still managed to over order. We started with the BBQ shrimp, char-grilled oysters, and onion rings and that honestly would've been a satisfying meal. We also did a half seafood platter, which was way more than the two of us could finish at once. The complimentary seafood boil potatoes were a nice beginning. The barbecue shrimp was my favorite dish, and I ended up using the sauce to dip everything else in. I also really liked the fried crawfish balls. Service was excellent. I would go back.

First off, the atmosphere of this restaurant was so wonderful and relaxing. Our assigned server, Sophie, was so pleasant and had a positive attitude. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Sophie also continuously checked on us, and each time, she came with a smile and good conversation. Now, the food was magnificent and cooked and seasoned very well. My guy and I had the fried seafood platter (a piece), and it was so much food for one person that we should have gotten one platter and shared it. The platter included fried catfish, fried shrimp, and fried oysters, which they put back on the menu today after being off the menu for 2 years. I was so so excited. We were very pleased with our dinner. Also, the chicken and anduoille gumbo was very, very good. Along with the boiled red potatoes that's given to guests as a complimentary starter was tasty. I highly recommend Deanie's to those visiting New Orleans and are staying in the French Quarter to check this awesome seafood restaurant out.

The portions are definitely worth your money but I was expecting more flavor from my main course which was BBQ Shrimp pasta. The shrimp was just boiled & added to the pasta but no flavor was on them. The garlic bread was amazing, table potatoes that were complimentary was also awesome! My husband ate fried catfish dinner & they were very tasty...I'm sure it was the batter. Our waitress Kelli was a sweetheart & patient with our party of 15 which included a kids table

Went here for dinner, it was a 30 minute wait but we just walked around & enjoyed the sights, so that time went by quickly. Had a great feel, the waitress was cool, not overly crowded.. In all a pretty good experience. 20% gratuity was already added in on my receipt but I threw in a lil extra. Cost $165.

We lined up at least 20 minutes to be seated. It was worth the wait. The best are the oysters. The small mixed seafoods is good enough to at least 3-4 people like us. We ordered and appetizer. We didnโ€™t even finish our meal because we ordered a lot. It was a good experience. Must try when you are at the area. I suggest trying the oysters which is the best. We surely gonna visit this place again when we return. Make sure you come early especially during weekends.

I can't say enough about my visit to Deanie's Seafood Restaurant. The Gluten Free options are amazing. I enjoyed fried catfish, shrimp and French fries from a safe designated fryer. For anyone who must eat Gluten Free this is something special to find for sure. Tried to go for dinner and wait was about 1 1/2 hours so decided to try for lunch time next day. Score we were seated immediately and given fast & friendly service. Thanks Deanie's for making my Birthday a special one.

The Good Service staff very friendly! Patrick server very personable. I don't like oysters. But they were okay. Very nice presentation. My friend likes them. But she loves these, came out hot. Potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” as a free started, different but really good. Calamari is really good. Friendly staff for what has to be a long busy day. The Meh, My drank wasn't strong enough for New Orleans for my liking. $17 I would just pass and wait for one from the street, if your a drinker. But we ordered a fried seafood plate... baby where's the seasoning, I'm so extremely disappointed for this to be New Orleans. I'm home a day later, still in shock. I rather have Captain D's. I would call the place a tourist trap. Great portion size. It's lacking flavor, and now looking at other's photos, duh. You don't see any seasonings. The way they seasoned those oysters, though, they know what seasoning is. So, I'm guessing it's done on purpose. I let my server know, still paid for it. He said, he'll let chef know.

We shared calamari, 1/2 dozen charbroiled oysters, and a catfish and shrimp combo Platter. Both the food and service were amazing! These were the best oysters I have had in NOLA. The only disappointment was that they did not have sweet tea. They serve boiled potatoes instead of hushpuppies or rolls... we drizzled the sauce from the oysters onto ours. ๐Ÿ˜‹

So we ended our Saturday here after a golf tournament. There was a 45 min wait for a party of 6 when we got there around 5:30pm. It was packed but everybody was friendly about the wait because they wanted the food! We were able to have drinks and appetizers at the bar and then make our way to our table when our name was called. At the bar we ordered margaritas and the โ€œVoodoo Juiceโ€ as the waitress called it. They made sure to sit us next to our colleagues and boss who had arrived before us which was thoughtful. We ordered the infamous charbroil oysters, shrimp/seafood dip and seafood platter (half) shared between two people. Mostly every thing was clean and food came out in decent time. The only reason why I gave this establishment 4 stars is because they had closed off a whole eating section due to a rowdy bunch of people mad about the timing of service the night before that began to riot. The manager closed off the section and this created a longer wait time than necessary for all the people coming in the next day. It was pride weekend and several other conventions in town, like ours. I believe they could have opened it back due to it being a Saturday and larger crowd. I would definitely go back!

Today was busier than normal. Simply understandable. We really like this Seafood restaurant. My wife and I make it a point to stop whenever we are here in NOLA. We usually order the Half Seafood platter. Itโ€™s a lot and we always take a box to go. Today we wanted to try something different so we ordered the soft shell crab poo boys sandwich and the Stuff Flounder. They were both equally good. Our server was great. Very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was understaffed today but whoever showed up were in good spirits. Keep up the good work Deanieโ€™s!!

Nice restaurant with good service and decent seafood. Only dissapointing aspect was the amount of grit in the oysters and shell in the crab stuffed mushrooms. For the price it should have been better, maybe we were just unlucky. Potatoes cooked in spicy crab boil were delicious

We entered the restaurant with high expectations having read amazing reviews online. However, our experience did not live up to this in the slightest. The evening progressed with one disappointment after another. First, we ordered their specialty Bloody Mary and a margarita. The Bloody Mary, while dressed well, was both too sweet and too spicy. The margarita tasted no different to a lime Gatorade and was likely mostly margarita mix. When we tried to clarify that we did not want that margarita, and just meant a standard margarita (I.e. not from the specialty menu), the woman serving us rudely clarified that if we wanted a normal margarita we should have clarified the tequila we wanted and that this was the only way to have a normal cocktail. The food that followed took a long time to arrive, and quite frankly was primarily tasteless. They also forgot to bring us one of the dishes we ordered. Sounds to me like the place benefits massively from โ€œauthentic hypeโ€, when it reality the staff are rude and the food is mediocre.

We went here for our last official meal on our New Orleans trip. We were referred by a local that stated, we would "like the food and definitely not leave hungry." And I have to say they were correct! I was very nervous about eating a restaurant with seafood in the name given that I have a shellfish allergy. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The server assured me the catfish was cooked in a location away from the shellfish. I ordered a fried catfish poboy, and my bf had the fried catfish platter. When the food arrived, it had a nice (large) portion size, and it tasted great. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the French quarter area. Pros: *Large portion sizes *Reasonable price *Well seasoned food Cons: * 30+ minutes wait to be seated

Great location and the food was all delicious. The complimentary red potatoes are amazing when you cut them up and mix in the butter packets. We got the charbroiled oysters, half seafood platter, side of crab au gratin. I had been here 6yrs ago and it was so good that I made it a point to come back. Service could definitely use improvement. We sat for 23 minutes without anyone coming by. I was planning to order a second glass of wine but by the time the waiter came back we were long done eating already.

Only mistake was going on a Friday evening, waited 1.5 hours but seriously, totally worth it. I'm from the northeast and for the amount of money I paid, it doesn't come close to the portion size, this place did it right. Had the seafood platter, crawfish etouffee seafood gumbo and char boiled oyster. First night in New Orleans, and it was great. Service was great, friendly staff too. It seems like they are open only 50% capacity (COVID-19), but don't let that discourage you from going. If you are making a list of places to go and eat in New Orleans, this place needs to be on your list. If you are drinking remember to tip your bartender my friends.

Deanie's was incredible. The chefs were so nice, the server Myron, was attentive and pleasant, and the food was out of this world. Each item that we ordered was cooked to perfection, and tasted amazing. I have never had such an astonishing meal where every single item sang to my taste buds. We flew from my hometown to New Orleans primarily to try this food, and I will definitely be back. I strongly recommend that you try the cheesecake, the praline crust is a revelation. Thank you, Deanie's.

Lisa was a blast at the bar. She makes great recommendations. You can trust what she tells you. The fig vinaigrette is delicious. I had it on the Bucktown โ€œbluesโ€ salad, and that salad was on point. The shrimp and crab dip rivals what you might get in Maryland. And remember Maryland is for crabs.

Was walling around the French Quarter and downtown New Orleans area and happened across Deanie's Seafood. We were greeted by a smiling and friendly hostess. We had a group of 9 and she quickly accommodated our group. Once seated, our server was very friendly and attentive. Instead of bread, we were treated to boiled red potatoes. The had to have been boiled in seasoned water, because they had somewhat warm spice/heat to them and they were very good. The food we ordered came out pretty fast and was served at temperatures appropriate for the food selections. I don't eat much seafood so I got a burger and it was perfectly cooked, well-seasoned delicious. Those that ordered seafood said it was fantastic. A few of our group ordered chicken and commented that it was juicy and delicious. Menu prices were as expected and because of our group size, gratuity was added to our checks. The dining area was well-maintained and very clean. Would highly recommend Deanie's Seafood Restaraunt.

This was our first time... The 40 minute wait to get in was a little tough; but, was so very worth it! Just note, from where we were in line, that's how long it took... Sure each experience may vary! We were lucky! We sat down and ordered 15 minutes before official closing time, but yet = EVERYTHING was still Absolutely fresh and Yummy! Definitely a go the next time we are in town!! ๐Ÿ’œ

Food was okay. Drinks were awesome! I'd go just for them. The shrimp and crab dip was good. The seafood platter was massive, but DO NOT get the BBQ shrimp pasta. It may just be my taste buds but it reminded me of Chefboyardee. Red velvet cake was good, but nothing special.

Stumbled upon this place when taking a friend out to the French quarter the first time. It is an old-school diner vibe that serves sea food and it had really good food! The chargrilled oysters are getting to be one of my favorites down here. Heads up, the shrimp do have the heads on, our waitress made sure to warn us about this Bc apparently some people are creeped out by it. Our table was a bit dirty at first, but our server, Jasmine, was amazing and she took care of it right away. She did a really good job of taking care of us as well as her other tables.

We ordered crawfish bites which were awesome! The Bacon wrapped shrimp were very tasty as well. We also did the stuffed mushrooms which were OK, they had a bit too much Parmesan cheese for my liking and I wish they were browned a bit more on top. For the price you can't go wrong. They also bring you seafood boiled potatoes instead of bread which is brilliant.

The complimentary boiled potatos are really good. The catfish po boy was large quantity but low quality (muddy taste, and they didnโ€™t put any dressing/sauce). The bbq shrimp was better but small portion for the price. Good service.

Great food, great service and a good atmosphere. The complimentary potatoes were so good. We shared the onion rings to start which were the best I've had. You get a good amount of food fir the price but they are very light on seasoning the fried dishes. We had the half seafood platter with oysters, shrimp, soft shell crab, fries, catfish and crab cakes. It was good with sauces but needed a little bit of seasoning salt. It was a little bland. It was good. The drinks ( Long Island iced tea) were good. The charbroiled oysters...amazing!!!!!! Our waitress knew the menu and prices without looking. She didn't write down our order and got everything right. She was awesome!!! Good place. I'd go back

Loved dining here and it was clearly a NOLA favorite, there was a 20-30 min wait for a table on a weeknight so many people opted for full-service bar seating. Servers are generous and fast and food was really great! Particularly loved their soup trio that let me try a few different options! Their dish was fresh and savory, would definitely recommend.

Love this place! Great food and excellent service. Who wouldn't love starter potatoes? We ordered the BBQ shrimp, calamari, and stuffed mushrooms. Everything was so flavorful! My only regret was that we were too full to get dessert.

Deanieโ€™s Seafood.... Worth the 45 min wait in line to get a table and it's dang legit! I had the Crawfish Quartet - Louisiana crawfish prepared four delicious ways โ€“ crawfish รฉtouffรฉe, crawfish bisque, fried crawfish tails and crawfish balls. New favorite food is Crawfish Balls! My wife had the Giant Seafood Platter (1/2 version) - A bounty of fresh shrimp, oysters, catfish, soft shell crabs and crawfish balls, served with French fries. The fried seafood is amazeballs here and very fresh. My son got the Crawfish ร‰touffรฉe - ร‰touffรฉe - "to smother." Louisiana crawfish tails smothered in a buttery blend of onion, celery, bell pepper and garlic. Served over rice with salad and French bread. Kiddo approved. I had to get the giant souvenir Crawfish Cup of Hurricane! A New Orleans classic with Cruzan Guava and Cruzan Raspberry Rum, mix of fruity juices and Hurricane Mix. Strong, but really sweet.

Stepping into Deanie's is like stepping into a seafood lover's paradise. We began our culinary journey with crayfish by the pound, a delightful exploration of flavors, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Oysters on the Half Shell were a taste of the ocean, fresh and subtly briny. The Chicken Andouille Gumbo, steeped in tradition and flavor, was a comforting bowl of smoky, hearty goodness. Next, the Fried Oyster Dinner showcased perfectly crusted oysters with a delightful burst of flavor. The Fried Shrimp Dinner was an array of golden, crisp morsels, while the Barbeque Shrimp offered a smoky, succulent taste adventure. The Chicken Breast Po-Boy was a classic done right, the chicken perfectly tender and juicy. Deanie's isn't just a restaurant; it's a cornerstone of New Orleans cuisine. Unforgettable and highly recommended!

The only reason they get 4 stars, is there were no veggies. I did order the green beans. They were tasty. However, all of the nutrients were left in the pot. That is my only issue. Otherwise, the food was DELICIOUS!! BITE YA KNUCKLES GOOD๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Solid place to eat. It does feel commercialized compared to other places. Staff were kind. Food was good 4/5 for the fried seafood (catfish shrimp and oysters), char grilled oysters very yummy. Very good size portions. Every table gets a few baked red potatoes. Only vegetarian option was a salad. No vegan options.

The food was a hit and miss! My soft shell crabs lacked seasoning and my fries were old. The waitress had a slight attitude about my not liking my food but redeemed herself at the end. First time eating here during a visit to New Orleans. Came on a Thursday afternoon and got a table immediately. Staff was friendly, service was good, restaurant was clean, and the pulley system for the ceiling fans made for nice decor. Never had complementary boiled potatoes before but they were good. We had Voodoo Juice & a Hurricane for drinks. Both were sweet but good although I'm not sure they're worth $15. We mostly ordered off the lunch menu for food...Stuffed Shrimp, Crawfish Duo, Seafood Okra Gumbo, and Mate Platter with Catfish & shrimp. Several things came with a side of fries which were unseasoned and a bit undercooked for our liking. We didn't eat much of the fries. Everything else was good. Our favorite was the seafood okra gumbo which was very flavorful. My only real compliant is the sides. Noticed online after that there's a gluten free menu available which could be helpful for some.

Service was great, friendly and fast. The food was okay. Caeser salad had a lot of dressing on it, just a bit too much. The bacon on the shrimp needed to be cooked a bit longer. However, the shrimp was good.

I had two small complaints about this place but the food and service was not one of them. The food was absolutely amazing. More than enough plus some. However!! When we were seated the lady said that once we sit no one could be added to the party. Even though they were right behind us. That was later settled and we were ok. Another issue was no returns or money back. One of the plates was not satisfying and we asked for it to be taken off the bill. It was explain that if itโ€™s not the waitress fault it couldnโ€™t be taken off. Other than that you should definitely add it to places to try!

Party of 7. Had a long wait. I guess they keep one side of the restaurant closed because everyone who came in was given a 25 to 30 minute wait nomatter how small or large the party was and one whole side had empty tables. Now to the food. They were out of fried oysters but you could get raw or chargrilled oysters. SMH as to why you cant fry some raw oysters. Anyway, the flavor of my chargrilled oysters was very good but they were probably the gritiest I have ever had. I also had crab stuffed mushrooms which were ok. I take points away because shell or cartlage kept getting stuck in my teeth. The "Blues" salad was very fresh, ample and tadty but the dressing was a bit too sweet for my taste. The portion sizes were very large but I seemed to be the only person in my party who enjoyed their selection. I will say steer clear of the crab au gratin. Flavor is completely missing from this dish.
