Julia Street Cruise Terminal

Cruise terminal

πŸ‘ This is where you board the cruise ships for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. The area is under construction right now so there is quite a bit of chaos with the traffic and lots of people everywhere. It's all pretty straightforward though from leaving your luggage with a porter and then checking in.... People often mention cruise, terminal, parking, people, nice, luggage, lines,

A very confusing experience! When associated with a cruise, this parking area is difficult to navigate. Additionally, after our 7-Day Cruise the attendant attempted to charge us twice the published rate. When challenged he quickly acknowledge the difference in prices and suggested it was because we parked in the Hilton section of the parking area. We refuse to pay twice the rate so he suggested we pay in cash. I do believe something less-than-positive was happening. I noticed that the parking lot had been divided by a yellow tape before we left for our Cruise. When we returned the yellow tape was on the other side of our vehicle . Someone had attempted to change our parking designation while we were on our cruise.I do believe there is a con artist at work somewhere in association with this parking area! At the very least it was a confusing mess to have to deal with - both leaving and returning from our Cruise.

The people are very kind, though sometimes in a hurry due to crowds. If you're not going on Carnival the parking is a lot about 2 blocks from the terminal. It's just an open lot, though fenced & guarded, but you have to walk back to the terminal no matter the weather. There's a part near some train tracks where there's literally no place for pedestrians walking to/from the parking lot to/from the terminal other than in the street. This should've been remedied years ago. The terminal is very functional, allowing for efficient movement of people through and on to the ship. The place could use a coat of paint, though. It seems dated and worn. But the true bright spot, the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 is because of the people. Almost everyone is remarkably kind, though some may be in a hurry, which is understandable. You won't get lost, someone will be wherever you need help, believe me I've been there a dozen times or more and it's been easy every time!

Spacious and clean. Staff did a nice job of moving thousands of people through the boarding process.

**cruisers be warned, bring cash** Got to the lot just fine for our Norwegian Breakaway cruise, very close and convenient for getting on and off. Our issue arose when paying to exit. At 9:15a on a Sunday, the attendant (who was very polite by the way) told us our charge would be $150 cash or $300 card. Hubby and I were in his Kia Optima. We had to ask her to repeat herself due to the shock of what we thought we heard, because we did not have any cash on us. Thankfully, we were allowed to back up and go into the mall to use an ATM. I'm not sure how this type of pricing is even legal. If the pay method rate differences were posted somewhere we definitely missed it.

When heading out to the wide open sea...not better port to leave from. Spend some time in NOLA before an after your cruise.

terminal for royal carribeen has no parking in terminal building. the outdoor parking lot is not well signed. when you see a parking lot, that is not for cruise passages. it is for the outlet shoppers.

If you're going out on a cruise, have your taxi/Uber driver drop you and walk up to the terminal, if you're able. It's only about a 5 min walk compared to a 40 min. wait in traffic to be dropped off in front of the building. We were dropped and walked our friends we dropped in front of the terminal and cost them a lot extra to sit in traffic. It's total chaos when you get there.

If you're early for embarkation, it's an easy walk to the outlet stores and food. When debarking it looks like chaos but it goes fairly quickly.

Horrible parking experience for our NCL cruise. Took over an hour. Incorrect instructions and people NOT willing to help at the cruise terminal.

Sailing on Royal Carribean. The setup for dropping off the luggage and then parking left something to be desired. Seemed rather disorganized.

Very unorganized. You can park & walk to the cruise terminal. Don’t wait for the shuttle in either direction. It’s awful! But, our car was fine and we did not have any problems.

Busy and packed, of course like any terminal during cruise embarkation. Check in seemed to go pretty seamlessly. Exiting is nice now, no longer have to wait in long lines coming back into customs. You picture now appears with your cruise card showing whether it's you or not. So much easier than processes prior.

The main issue with this terminal is the parking and the parking access, unfortunately there is no nearby parking and the traffic during the cruise days is terrible. Besides this everything else is just great, no complaints.

The elevators in the mall are disabled when disembarking the ship. You have to cross the tracks, take a different elevator, then cross a bridge to get into the mall. The cruise lines have made it clear that once you are off the ship they don't care what happens to you.

Been on numerous trips , and this terminal is by far the easiest to navigate. The great folks of N.O. are friendly and helpful.

Long, long lines. No organization. I've sailed out of maybe 50 terminals and I don't remember any being worse than that. The city should be embarrassed.

It's surprisingly efficient. Staff were not exactly super friendly but dealing with masses of people who do not listen can do that to you.

My favorite port. A shopping area next to dock. Tax refund for those who ask, remember to save your vouchers.

Very unorganized no direction. We got to the port early so we could board during our time period. We missed our time period due to car lines not being directed and forever long. We then parked and waited forever for a shuttle to take us to the terminal that we could have walked to πŸ˜‚. Then trying to check our luggage, the man didn’t seem to start loading our luggage until we put enough money in his hand. We all planned to tip him but he wasn’t touching the luggage until it was in hand and it was enough. Sadly the whole experience makes us not want to cruise from this port again.

It's OK, but it is much like alot of other cruise terminals, where people are herded into long lines to be processed for embarkation & disembarkation. Bring a mask, too many people, too close together & not everyone is healthy.

Rather chaotic and disorganised at disembarkation and embarkation time. Needs more structure in places. Lines of people cutting through queues, people cutting into queues. Hot tempers. Very frustrating.

The terminal itself was a little dirty, especially the bathrooms...yikes! But the people working there were super nice and helpful. The lines moved quickly, which is important.
